Official Love for the Milwaukee Brewers Thread
fathom replied to Greg The Bull Luzinski's topic in The Diamond Club
Seriously, can we try something new, and close this thread? The Brewers are 21 outs away from losing their lead in the NL Central. They have no energy left, and their starting pitchers are horrendous getting the 3rd out in an inning. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) Son of a b****, my extreme hatred for Jacque Jones is renewed. The worst thing is that during lunch today, I was thinking how he hasn't had a go-ahead hit for them during this good stretch of his. Oh well....I was looking at the WC standings today, and I want the Phillies or Braves to win it. This way, the Cubs would likely have to face the Mets if they make the playoffs. I trust the Mets more than other teams.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) You genuinely think he has bigger plans -- bigger, realistic plans? Obviously, he plans to add some talent, but how much is realistic? Getting rid of Jose and Garland's contract will free up a lot of money. It's also another reason to be excited about Buehrle's extension....we won't go cheap this offseason.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) I have no idea what Kenny thinks, and I'm quite positive I said nothing to that effect. In no way was I referring to anything you said....sorry for any confusion.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 08:36 PM) Boy.. I can only imagine how much work it much be to have to keep ones ass clentched so tight all season long... Ha, I know. I'm just saying that if KW thinks adding Eckstein is going to get this team back to the promise land of the playoffs, then he must have a lot more confidence in Crede's back being healthy and Richar's ability to hit in the majors. I'd much rather go into the season with Uribe at SS if it means upgrading in CF with a legit offensive talent. Also, don't forget that it's very likely Garland is dealt this offseason. I know a lot of us think KW has bigger plans this offseason that what's predicted here.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 07:15 PM) Hope you don't mind, but I sent this to a "friend" and got a "thumbs up" response. Sweet, 4th place, here we come!

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) Why can't Pujols hit the f***ing cubs christ sake. I hate Ron Santo so f***ing much. I was forced to listen on the radio there, and he made it sound like the greatest catch of all time. I then call a friend, and he said it was a routine play. Can there just be a season ending strike in baseball right now?
-
Go figure...the Cubs were denied the ability to trade Jacques Jones, and now he's their hottest hitter. Like I said, I hate this baseball season.
-
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) Why can't the Cardinals hit cub pitching? Cause the baseball gods are out to get Sox fans who hate the Cubs this year.
-
There's no way I'd make a prediction right now with Rowand not on the Sox.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) I was being very sarcastic. Santana good. But the answer to, "Oh, we're going to lose four to five games against him, oh!" is "don't lose." I don't look at Santana and say, "God, please, let him leave!11111111111" I say, Work him hard, get him out of the game and do damage against the pen. Figure out how to not get shutout by him every time you face him. I know Santana good, but our offensive approach against him doesn't help us out much, either. Yep, get Santana out of the game to face that terrible Twins bullpen. He's the only pitcher we face where our players seem mentally defeated before the game even begins. He's not going to stay with the Twins though, so it doesn't even really matter. He'll get a 6 year, 140 million dollar deal from someone. His fastball has already lost 2 mph this season, so that would be a terrible contract.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) It makes me feel good to watch hometown heroes stay in their hometown this year. Keep it going, Santana. You are a Twin. Period. You're the only Sox fan I know who wanted Zambrano to stay with the Cubs and Santana to stay with the Twins.

QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Eh, I don't know. I'd say Big Z is worth 4mil more per season that Mark. It's a nice deal for both sides (although he could have gotten another year or so on the open market if I were to venture a guess). Wow

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) Who do the Cubs remind you of this week? I brought up the KC comparison because I said that in May. It's going to be sad if they end up below .500 after such a strong start. Makes me appreciate the consistency of the Sox in 2005. -

The Brewers remind me so much of the Royals from a few years ago. They're so bad right now, and they don't have a healthy starting pitcher under 4.80. We better hope the Cards stay hot this wknd. They're going to face 3 lefties vs the Cubs, so I hope they bench Ankiel vs them. He looks brutal vs LHP. -
Sounds like everyone but Wieters has signed.
-
Has Hawk been complaining about the umpires every game lately? He sure seems ticked off about recent things.
-
That was impressive by Owens....but he almost castrated the 3rd baseman with that slide.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 03:35 AM) Honestly, is it really that baffling? The team consists of: Pods and Erstad (who we were both against carrying prior to the season) Owens (who I've called a future 4-5th outfielder for going on 2 years now) Richar (a guy I'd never heard of before we traded for him) Cintron (who was poor last year, had a LATE off-season surgery, and looked f***ing brutal on the rare occasion that he did play in ST) Fields (who looks great on occasion, but also looks really out of place at times) Uribe (who even though I was for his sticking around, is nothing more than a low-OBP power hitting slick fielding shortstop, who has seen his defense and power slide) Be thankful there's some major league talent on the pitching staff. Otherwise this would be the worst Sox team of our lifetime. It still might be. And add on Konerko's recent struggles, and Thome looking awful at the plate, and I can see where you're going with this.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 03:28 AM) At least they're defensively sound. It just baffles my mind how bad they've looked in the games I've seen recently.
-
Wow, what a horses*** effort by Pods out there.
-
This team is just so bad. They're going to have to spend a fortune this offseason to compete again. I do enjoy watching grind outs to 2nd base.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 03:25 AM) So what's the Brewers' record since the creation of this thread? I really wonder what happened to closing it. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 02:44 AM) There is simply nothing else he's going to learn in the minors right now. He's very raw, and has been at every level, but as he's grown into each level, his numbers have gone up. He's going to struggle for a while, but at least we have the option for him to struggle in the big leagues while we're not in a pennant chase. You know that I want him to be getting at-bats in the majors right now. It's sickening we have to watch Erstad, Pods, and Cintron still play.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 02:44 AM) How many times have we said that phrase concerning White Sox prospects? Richar must have been informed after leaving Arizona that immediate success just doesn't work for this organization. People really have to stop paying attention to AAA numbers....that league is such a joke this year. Richar's swing just looks incredibly weak.
