White Sox vs. Twins, 5/30/07 (L)
Ozzie's doing what every other manager would. On the road, you save your closer in case you get the lead.

What a fantastic 0-5 for Erstad. I'll tell you what, he isn't a good hitter, but he's one of the best players you'll ever see. What happened? Someone rob Iguchi of a homer?

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:33 PM) No hits for 5 innings. Amazing what a bullpen can do, just ask John Danks. This reminds me of the J. Jones walk-off homer game against Koch about 4 years ago. We got a big lead early off of Cy Mays, and then they brought in Rincon I believe, and chipped away and eventually won.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:32 PM) Dont forget Frank Thomas and Jaques Jones on the bad arm list Shockingly, Jones has made some great throws this year. He's also had some horrible throws as well. I meant from a pure velocity point with Cintron, Iguchi, and Hall.

A lefty bunting against Neshek? That's a smart move....not!

Did Hunter make a nice catch on that? And Ozzie needs to get Hall out of the game now.

Good job by Ozzie not letting Garland start the 7th inning. And yes, Cintron shouldn't be out there. He's still injured, and is a major liability. With Cintron, Iguchi, and Hall playing together today, we might have 3 of the worst arms in baseball (along with Damon and Pierre).

QUOTE(juddling @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) Cheap??? yeah...but boy do they throw hard!!!!! Do they? I'm still waiting to see a fastball from Aardsma, Sisco, or Masset over 94 mph.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) its almost getting to the point, where we need to revamp the whole team. Good thing we're in a position where that can happen after this season....and I'm not being sarcastic.

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:22 PM) The Sox revamped bullpen is worse than last year. I think the offseason can officially be declared a failure. I think it's been declared that for a while. As Dick Allen likes to state on here, this is what you get when you go cheap.

The Time To Act... Unfortunately is Now.
Please don't trade any of our young guys. As much as they're not ready, it's foolish to think this team has the ability to make a major run in this division.

White Sox vs. Twins, 5/30/07 (L)
No way in hell I'd let Garland start this inning. He's already over 100 pitches, and we know how well that went last game.

White Sox vs. Twins, 5/30/07 (L)
If the Sox go on to lose this game, it will be the 9th game they've lost when leading in the 6th inning or later. That's f***ing pathetic.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) Strikes have definitely been an issue this year. Especially with the bullpen. Even when they aren't walking guys they are getting hammered because its 2-0 or 3-1. Who would have ever guessed that would be the case?

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) But the baseball genius fixed a bad bullpen. Everyone throws 97. It's amazing how poorly this roster is constructed. At least we lead the league in reserve infielders.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) seriously, what percentage of runs in this series got on base due to a walk? I think already 4 walks have scored for garland today, at least 3 for both Jose and Danks It's inexcusable to walk any Twins hitter besides Morneau and Hunter. Throw it down the plate to the other guys, and let them hit it as hard as they want.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) A good gm shakes the team up right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! god f***in dammit Nope, a good GM waits another month to see if this team shows any fire. If not, then you become sellers instead of buyers.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:06 PM) The offense was nice early in the game now they have gone away completely. They will lose this game because the offense can not stay on the field for more than 10 pitches. Sorry but the offense is why they lost last year and why they will again. They can not takethe other team out of the game by continuing to score. 6 runs is nice but the Twins pen will end the game with 6 shut-out innigns. This what happend in the Oakland series. This happens about twice a year vs the Twins. We'll jump out to a nice lead, they'll pull their pitcher, and then a couple of no name relievers for them will come in and shut us down. Meanwhile, our starting pitchers can't get a big out to save their life. In the past, it was relievers like Rincon, Guerrier, and Perkins who would shut us down. I guess we can add Miller to the list.

Well, this makes 4 straight horrible starts for our starting pitchers. This team has no confidence at all right now.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:49 PM) Man, harping on someone who is 2 for 3 today because he popped out in an at bat? Sorry, a guy with an OPS on the season aroung .600 doesn't get a free pass just cause he has 2 hits in a game. It's pathetic how many pop ups he's hit to the right side of the infield this year, and it's because he's dipping his back shoulder on the swing. It's the main reason that he rarely hits line drives anymore.
-
White Sox vs. Twins, 5/30/07 (L)
There's no one that pops up more to the right side than Joe Crede. He's such a terrible player this year.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) I'm not a stat head. I watch the game. Now I don't watch a lot of Twins games, but in the ones I do watch Hunter usually comes through in the clutch, both at the plate and in the field. He also seems to be a spark plug for his team. I wish the Sox had him. Hunter's been more clutch against the Sox than any hitter over the past 4 years or so. Hell, he makes Mike Sweeney seem like he's nothing now.

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) Well you could put Terrero out there for Erstad. Then who's in left field, Mackowiak?

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Isnt Baker a righty?? nevermind, I paid no attention in bettwen calls that they brought Miller in. Yeah, but they brought in a lefty to retire Thome.
-
White Sox vs. Twins, 5/30/07 (L)
Here's the question I have about our roster right now: with the way things are constructed, don't we basically have to play both Erstad and Thome against every LHP we face? It's not exactly a good thing to have two miserable hitters against LHP in the lineup every game.
