It feels funny to me to criticize Ozzie for not giving his starters enough rest, but I really thought he'd mix in some guys like Anderson and Gload into the lineup once during this KC series to give Everett and others a rest. BTW, what's the weather expected to be at the Cell tonight? Any chance of a rain out?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) I love this post more than anything. You some how managed to piss off and confuse numerous people with quite possibly the most sarcastic post you've ever produced. Congrats. Yep...it's funny just reading the reaction it's getting.

Free Brian Anderson!!

Brandon Inge K's with the bases loaded to end the top of the 7th. He's left 7 guys on base today.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) Pods, LF Iguchi, 2B Everett, DH PK, 1B Rowand, CF Dye, RF Uribe, SS Widger, C Ozuna, 3B Garcia, P Ozzie's sure going with the starters day in, day out now. I'm surprised that Everett wasn't given a day off.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) I hate cereal. Damn Tigers...we had to knock them into a slump right before they played Cleveland. We can't really b**** about the Tigers, because they were just awful when we played them also.
-
3-2 Indians. Good thing we've been on such a good run lately, or else this could have become real close.
-
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) 2-2. Indians just tied it up! No reason for the Indians to have a chance in this game. Tigers have left just a ton of runners on in scoring position, and the Indians have 2 runs on 2 hits.

Tigers have blown numerous chances to blow this game wide open.

Posada's story was on HBO Real Sports a few years ago, and it was just awesome. He's definitely a class-act.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) + Quicker trips to the head, shower, nacho line, & beer tap! Lasts years attendance average was how many? & we still managed to create this team? That's fine....then just don't complain if PK signs elsewhere, and we have to trade someone like Garland or Contreras to clear payroll.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) I have said this before and will say it again. I would much prefer having only 15,000 diehards in the stands than 40,000 corporate wannabefansforanightwhositontheirhandsandeatnachos. I never get back to chicago for a game, but when i listen to the games on mlb radio or tv it is louder with only 15,000. It allows the obnoxious diehards a chance to move down closer to the field and really band together. I love small crowds. And then you'd have a mediocre payroll.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) I apologize for the blanket statement. I guess I should have qualified it. The sentiment stands. There should be more than 15,000 people at these games. I definitely agree with this. Like you, I have my reasons for not going to these games this week. I don't see why some people are getting so upset that you're calling them fair weather. First, we know that these people aren't fair weather fans, and you didn't call anyone out by name on it. Next, why would anyone really care what someone says about their team affiliation? Hell, I laugh any time that people on here suggest that I root for the Sox to lose. I could care less what the attendance was if it didn't impact our payroll. Like I said earlier, we just gave JR a perfect excuse if PK leaves.
-
Neither....Duque will still be in the game.
-
Kudos to AJP for actually sticking up for the Sox fans. I don't know what PK and Buehrle were trying to prove with what they said/didn't say. Out of everyone, those two should appreciate the amount of fan support the Sox have received this year.

Anyone watching this tennis match?
fathom replied to WilliamTell's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Awesome match, awesome environment. I was rooting for Blake after all the s*** he's been through. -
Two things: 1) Do we know the crowds will be higher for this wknd, or is that speculation? 2) Maybe the players should step back and realize how great the fan support has been for about two months now, and realize that maybe this was just a bad series for attendance?
-
I hope I'm wrong, but I think the last few days just sealed what excuse the organization will use if we don't resign PK.
-
I wish Dusty....sorry, I meant Ozzie....and the rest of the team would shut up and play the game on the field.

QUOTE(kevin57 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) I already have to modify my "hope" of Ozzie learning from his mistakes. I just heard on CLTV that Ozzie plans to stick with Marte "because we're going to need him in October." God help us all! What else is he going to say?
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 03:18 AM) Marte stuck out Ortiz in a big spot the toher day. I'm not excusing Marte, and I'd go with Cotts, but just saying. I was referring to 9th inning situations.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 03:17 AM) But that's what I'm saying. If he was making tons of guys and putting people in situations where they didn't succeed, we wouldn't have the best save percentage in the league. So while he's made some dumb moves, most of them have worked out. You don't have hte lowest blown save percentage by getting lucky. You have the best save percentage because of one thing: Dustin Hermanson! Thus, if it's a save situation, put his ass in the game. If you're going to warm him up with his back problem, put him in the game.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) You can get away with stupidity like that against the Royals. But against the A's, Yankees, Red Sox, Angels? I think not. He's done similar things against the Yankees, Red Sox, and Angels this year, and Marte needed to be bailed out by another reliever or the Sox offense in the next inning.
-
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) I almost puked when they said on the radio he was playing the percentages... If you look at the stats, chances are he's going to suck in that situation... That's my favorite post of the night.

Can I just say that we should all be happy that we won, even though Ozzie seemed clueless with the bullpen. We can only hope it might adjust the way he manages. Better to have won with bad managing than to lose with good managing. No such thing as a moral victory at this time of the season.
