Jake Burger Thread
Is there an exemption in the rules for Rule 5 exposure for guys with severe/long injuries? I think I remember that somewhere. Would help with Dunning and Burger and Adolpho perhaps.

7/1 Games
https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/prospects/stats/affiliates?date=07/01/2019 RE: Bailey and even a couple others might be ready. I guess it is a balance as he is only seventeen and obviously a very different culture awaits in Arizona. Maybe better to bring a couple or if there are players in AZ he has played with it could help him assimilate. No idea his maturity, language skills, personality etc

Cease starts game 1 on Wednesday
Last year Kopech came up when he went thru struggles then was dealing. Not sure I have seen Cease straighten back out. If he is bad, I hope it doesn't hurt his confidence. I do not disagree he is probably the best option right now. I wouldn't mind Kubat at some point. Relatively soft tossing lefties have had success before.

Do the White Sox have too much starting pitching?
Wow, looked back at the original post. Of 13 pitchers identified, 6 are currently pitching in our organization. Gio and Cease doing well, Lopez, Fulmer, Hansen, Guerrero all struggling. Three, Kopech, Dunning, and Rodon out for the season. Two, Stephens and Clarkin are out of the organization in non trades so we gained nothing for them. So as everyone pretty much agreed, You can't have to much pitching!

Prior to TJ surgery a torn UCL was a 100% career ender. I think the current stats are about 85% return though I am not sure if that is to their previous success rate or just back to MLB for some time. So 15% don't make it back. We have over six TJ guys so odds are one or more is toast statistically. The comment some come back stronger makes sense due to some fixing/rebuilding mechanics or no longer having a elbow that may at times give you twinges/pain you didn't really report or were managing.

2nd Tier Palehose
I believe he was with Cubs at the time but I remember a drunk Harry in a doubleheader second game started trying to pronounce the players names backwards beginning with grudz.

2nd Tier Palehose
Nyls Nyman, Harry Chappas, Kevin Bell, guys who were supposed to be good but flamed. Solid guys I liked, (Bucky Dent, my fav as a kid), Jim Spencer super dead pull. Anyone remember Buddy Bradford, if Reggie Jackson was Mr October, Buddy was Mr April.

Sure but not like there are a lot of alternatives.

Interesting that Palka and Tilson played in both the AAA(before suspended) and MLB game. I double talked at first also.

With the way this day has gone with injuries probably making sure there wasn't a car or plane crash.

2019 MLB Draft and Signing Tracker
If Glass does sign then only 15th rounder Caleb Freeman rhp hasn't signed out of top 27 picks. Pretty darn good and maybe he signs as I think he is listed as a signer per the future sox draft tracker so impressive. So while typing SH posts Freeman signs...Cool!

2019 MLB Draft and Signing Tracker
So if Glass is coming in at 200 that eats up 100k so that leaves a max offer of 127,525 to any of the remaining six. the 27,525 probably not enough to sway a high schooler. Oops wrong math. evidently 125k is the max before pool so 152,525 which below goes to Freeman

He's a bigga boy! Maybe the guy who subs at catcher/1b and primary DH is still in the minors?

Yonder DFA'd
Not defending him, but Hahn should be judged by all aspects of his job. Saying anyone can make those trades isn't true. Theo even said Hahn insisted on Cease and held out. Maybe someone else doesn't. If Alonso hit his career average he would have been an overpay but would have provided some L-R balance. If he catches on and does significantly better maybe being the recipient of all the Machado shit did affect him. He didn't ask to be here and man he fell off the cliff. Wish he had done well and been flippable, glad they cut bait.

It always is especially if they say "it's not about the money".

ptatc love your input here. I am also medical. Agree something is weird here seeing olden day pitchers go 300 innings and in the last ten years we are to the point 200 is becoming rare. Is it the off season rest as kids the elders got while working second jobs? Ala Andrews thinking year round throwing when young is a big factor. In Japan, I think they throw a lot more between starts, any studies on their rates of UCL that you are aware of?
