  1. Kubat 26 yo lhp. Third start at AA. All seven innings. gives up first run so 21ip 14h 1r 0w 17k. Could we get some info on his stuff? Could we pretty please have a late bloomer on our hands who becomes something?
  2. Book spoiler: Clear departure, at the well the witch told Cersei that her children would die and she would die at the hand of her younger brother. Part of her hatred of Tyrion but Jamie was born after her(twins) making him younger also. I/many thought Jamie would complete his redemptive arc by killing her. Since neither brother did it was a clear departure.
  3. This is common in teaching hospitals. They will stagger start cases. The fellows or residents (who are doctors) will often open and close the wounds. The primary surgeon performs or directly supervises the critical portions of the surgeries. I have seen this all the time at multiple facilities. Major name heart surgeons often have rooms start about every hour and are present when the actual surgery on the heart is performed and the heart restarted. Fellows handle much of the open/close. I would imagine the same for major orthopedic surgeons ala Andrews etc.
  4. I hope I have really good lineup depth or a great pinch hitter cause if you bunt they are walking the hot hitter and it is the next bater that is going to matter.
  5. Any chance he signed the 45 day waiver clause?
  6. Stephens has been bad this year. Looked like a guy who might get up this year prior to this years poor starts. Great start to this game 8 pitches, 2 k's. Hopefully figured something out.
  7. Odd that Fulmer didn't get the win. Was pitching when they got thru five(came out after six) they were ahead and 2.1 innings with 1 run so wasn't completely ineffective.
  8. None of the remaining free agents will be ready opening day. At this point I don't think you see them sign with a team like us until draft pick compensation goes away. I think that is a few weeks.
  9. Could it be a prelude to moving one of our utility infielders, Leury most likely? He would provide insurance as none of the others profile at short defensively for any significant time.
  10. I think I saw in an Athletic article that since Collins and Zavala were both going to AAA that each said they were willing to play first so both could be in the lineup. If so it makes sense to get some practice there. It has been said nowhere that he is moving there permanently. When other teams do this, they are praised for enhancing positional flexibility.
  11. Strikes out the side. Well thats a positive no matter who batting. The bar is low!
  12. Dunning to meet with Andrews Monday.
  13. Think I saw he throws 95 but I agree doesn't seem to make sense. Maybe look at for a week until better options are put out there.
  14. It is a typical long one. It feels like forever because we never committed to the rebuild until a couple years ago. Spending money on aging vets does improve the current product but hurts your draft thus prolonging the rebuild. It would take us back to the late Kenny years of 70 some wins. IE limbo. Nothing is guaranteed so this may not work but we know limbo doesn't work. We should take this money and do everything we can to build up internationally and in our current minor leagues. Hell rival the Yankees under George where everything was "the best". Be so good structurally you become desirable as a location. It won't happen but I wish it would. Ive posted in the past on restructuring the minors from education, nutrition, sports science to coaching.
  15. The total lack of command/control with everything doesn't profile to anything if he doesn't get it back. Bullpeners are often the two pitch pitchers who can't develop a third pitch. The inability to throw a strike is career threatening. I really hope he gets it back cause he was looking really really good at one time.
  16. I am not sure it is Jay's fault we offered him the most money. He did what Machado did, he took the most money.
  17. Not very impressive when looked at. About the only assets you could have moved were an injured Rodon for pennies on the dollar and Abreu who is fulfilling the "mentor" role. As you stated there were some deadline deals that aren't included. We are now moving towards a bit of a 40 man crunch so I would anticipate some 2 for 1 trades and or trades for guys much further away. Looking back, not signing a ton of players in Roberts year really hurt. If you look at the Padres top 30 at least 15 are international signings (several signed by others and acquired in trade).
  18. I wonder if the fact the agent gets a percentage off of the gross not net that an agent might steer to what is better for the agent. Wonder if the agent lives in a no state income tax state if he avoids the hit or is it tied to where the player is located?
  19. I was under the impression he failed for Erythropoietin not epitestosterone. Erythropoietin increases the number of red blood cells. Used more by bikers and others in endurance activities to carry more oxygen to the muscle tissues and remove CO2.
  20. I wonder if a deal might be struck at three $ wise to get some harder signs later if no one clearly is exciting at three?
  21. This is gonna be another long year.
  22. Do I get a cookie or an upvote for predicting a tie pregame?
