  1. A sad fact on our minors and I realize it is a MLB prospect rating so take it with a pound of salt but his hit tool is rated at 55 (power 30). 55 is as high a rating as any of our hitting prospects in top 30. Collins and Fisher are the only TWO at 55.
  2. You save 7 million and get a guy who can play center and hits lefty. While he has little power, if he is a cardinal he will do everything else the "right" way.
  3. Boston has more star level prospects so Yankees would have to go quantity. Frazier,Torres, Sanchez,Severino couple fliers….Chance Adams, Jordan Montgomery, Dietrich Enns
  4. Call Boston and say if you want Sale and no one off your major league roster I want Moncada, Devers, Benintendi, and Kopech. Two of those guys are at AA and two at high A. Odds are one or two flame out, two are ok, and one may be good. I want at least that for 3 plus years of Sale. Quintana would also take all four as he is not quite as good but has another year of control. Robertson for best prospect offered. Lawrie, Navarro, Avilla, for anything.
  5. We can't pich hit for Shuck….We may need him to pitch!
  6. i am on game day. Missed hit and run or straight steal?
  7. Wish he started the inning. Most relievers especially mediocre ones do better starting a inning than having all the pressure on them.
  8. Does Robin run the pitching staff or does Cooper? Serious question. I already stated I would not have had him out but how do you leave him in after first hit? I understand if he had been breezing for the game but he hasn't been. He would of been out with lighter load on his arm.
  9. Here is where our injuries show. Eaton could use a day off but they can't give it to him.
  10. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 02:14 AM) I wouldn't send him out there. He's not in a great rhythm and at 102 PC. I wouldn't either. It is fun to discuss beforehand. Afterwards everyone bats 1.000 Might go to lower relievers as well.
  11. Sale at 102 pitches. Done for night or try to squeeze another inning? For his sake, I say done but scared of bullpen.
  12. I don't think Anderson has had to make a play tonight.
  13. Looks like he improved each year and k pretty much = walks. k=w not typical of our toolsy picks
  14. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) I like that we drafted a catcher with a nice bat. Catchers are allowed to hit?
  15. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 05:55 PM) Avi 1/4 yesterday with an rbi= bench Rollins 0/3 with 2 strikeouts= starts Maybe Avi not playing because in Shields deal?
  16. Jackson last played the 29th so with Melky gone, it would not have surprised me to have seen them put him on the DL retroactively and bring up Hayes to have another LH bat instead of DHing Rollins. It could have been about a week long trial so I guess Jackson very close to returning?
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 09:33 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/...3/ichiro-suzuki You'd have two HOF DH's, maybe. However, Ichiro only has a 578 during that time frame against RHP. Against lefties, 755...but that's reasonably what we would expect out of Rollins if he JUST hit against LHP, right? Maybe 3 years ago, when he could still play the OF quite well, but it's too late for him as a plus defender unless it's primarily a marketing move like Manny Ramirez down the stretch in 2010. Weird, doing much better vs rhp this year(possibly sample size) and I really wasn't looking for slugging from him. Just a two hole hitter that could keep things moving in front of bigger bats. He would allow Melky to prob hit between Abreu and Frazier. Could use Melky, Avi(insert any of a bunch of other discussed options) and Ichi as two of the three playing DH and LF depending on matchup.
  18. I have long wanted Derek Dietrich from the marlins but he would now be very expensive. He is playing second with Dee Gordon suspended and has an OPS around .899. Not a great glove and has played a little OF in past and third. I liked him as a LH DH and occasional play in field. 26 so controlled awhile but prob can't get him now. What I did see that was interesting and possibly cheap is a 42 year old dude. Could Kenny get his man? Ichiro is somewhat blocked in their outfield, but how would a .381 OBP hitting lefty dhing look in our two hole vs Rollins? Platoon if you want but it would be interesting.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) There's one compelling argument for Coats and even Hayes. It's if that you do survive and gauntlet of aggressive promotion through our system, you'll be rewarded with an opportunity. We saw that happen with the prolifically slugging 1B that most scouts had pegged as a AAAA player and the fans were clamoring for him to play in Chicago for some time...that one went to the scouts. The organization's to the point where they need at least one of Saladino and Anderson to be regular players, hopefully both if Tyler's bat can hold up over time. Sands might be the "veteran journeyman" like Shuck that Ventura feels more comfortable with, however. At some point, they need to try something else (DH-wise), and that's probably going to come before the July 4th holidays when the trade market starts to really take form. And, if nothing else, those players like a Kahnle get a sense of the increased pace and skill level of the game at the highest level, and can use their successes and more often failures as motivation to get back there. Same with Purke if he loses out in the numbers game. I think there is a second very compelling argument for both players. You already have them and they cost you nothing in terms of prospects or cash. It depends on our organizations evaluation of them I guess. I hope the front office is not like many fans who see that bright green player/prospect on another team over our own. Sometimes that green on the other side of the fence is just weeds.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 25, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) This Rollins things is quite ridiculous. He can't hit LH anymore. If they want to hit him 2nd vs LHP, whatever but not only should he not be hitting 2nd, he shouldn't even be playing vs RHP. You are not inspired by his current .483 OPS vs RHP?
  21. I was thinking the other night that Sanchez needs to go down and get at bats and Sands need to go somewhere. Did not expect a Kanhle for Sanchez swap, expect him to go back down. Need left handed options and looking at roster can argue two of Hayes , Shuck, or Garcia. Never thought I would ever advocate Garcia but we have had times where a pinch runner would have maybe not had guys thrown out at the plate with the caveat of only if we had put the runner in. I think its between Hayes and Shuck. Garcia does give positional flexibility and I noted in the minors forum Shuck has played a few at first. I have no idea how he looked. So I expect Leury and Shuck in the next two weeks. I would go for Hayes as a lefty DH about half time with Avi. Hayes also could spell Abreu at first with Abreu DH. I think Shuck vs Garcia tough. I go Shuck. I can see pinch hitting Shuck but never Leury. So I see Shuck at times pinch hitting (Rollins) and or using Saladino to run more. Personally, I am at the point of starting each 3 games a week.(often 1 off day) Let Rollins get previously good match ups, although not a lot as he was a career NL player. Maybe vs LHP. What we really need is two or more hitters to go on a hot streak.
