QUOTE (greg775 @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:02 PM) Good. Let KW hire Buddy Bell, some really dull, effective manager. Its much better to have spicy dumb moves. -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) It's Vizquel vs. Nix in that situation. They both suck. That by itself is depressing as hell, and KW has to have ssome blame for getting us a s***ty offense. I would take Nix everyday and twice on Sunday if we are talking DH's. The only value that Vizquel provides the team is as a defensive presence. -

Its time for Guillen to go. A 43 year old DH who can't hit. This is something that even the most drunken relative of Vizquel playing Xbox wouldn't think of. -

Our abortion of an offense can't muster duck snorts. Congrats Ozzie. Vizquel as your DH, what the f*** did you think was going to happen. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) This isn't a surprise, Ozzie said earlier in the week that he wanted to get Vizquel more at bats. If the sox sent down Beckham we would be treated to Vizquel hitting 2nd and playing 2nd everyday. -
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 13, 2010 -> 11:48 PM) :lolhitting :lolhitting You made me LOL. I know it's weird to everyone, but I find Tiffany Pollard's face attractive. lol, for real. Tiffany Pollard is a bit too tranny looking for my tastes.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 13, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) OK, I had to google search her to check this out. There is no way those are 32E's. They are real and spectacular..... and no she is not my number one by any means. But I wouldn't say no by any means..

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 13, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) lol, I just like girls with more curvaceous features. Katy Perry is sporting 32E's. Thats curvy enough for me.

Throughout Quentin's minor league career and his first year success here, he had a power stroke that was to right center. He drove the ball with authority and had great bat control. His power was generated from great swings. Now he looks like is trying to artificially provide power by swinging hard at everything and missing. He is a mess right now.

Another game that our inept offense fluttered away. -

I remember Singleton's PBP at Tampa Bay. The ball is pitched. crack....pause....and its hit, its up in the air, its over the fence....uh.....pause....thats a home run. yup thats a home run...... -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 12, 2010 -> 01:09 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...&id=5173365 I recently bought a Rawlings Renegade, and I've been trying to 'naturally' break it in for about 3 weeks to little avail. Then I tried a variation of Rowand's method and doused it in hot water, than put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. It's a lot softer now, and its sitting under my mattress with a baseball tied in it to shape it right now. Funnily enough, the tan parts of the glove went from tan to dark brown, and I like the look a lot more. How does everyone else break in their gloves? I have used the same formula for years and it has worked from little league through college. Just broke in my sons T ball glove for him using it. Warning!!!! The way I break in a glove will discolor a light colored glove, however I was more worried about it working than its look. You can use either the glove conditioner oil ( NEAT) or vaseline ( when I was younger and didn't know about the glove conditioner oil ) or some people even use shaving cream. Rub the oil or vaseline all over the glove and work it in. Place a ball in the web, then use twine to tie up the mitt. Wrap it in a clear ziplock bag. Place weights on it so its flat and leave it overnight. In the morning, place it ( still wrapped in twine and in its sealed plastic clear bag ) either directly on your roof or in the back window of your car thats parked out in the sun all day. The heat of your roof or the back window and the sealed plastic clear bag provide "cook in" of the oil into your glove. Repeat the ritual for 3 days. On the 4th day, bend the glove backwards so it looks like you are trying to turn it inside out. Tie it with twine, and put the weights on it, back in the bag she goes. Let it sit in the sun all day again, just like before. When you are done, the glove show pretty much lay flat on its own and open without any problem.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2010 -> 09:29 PM) Just catching up with game now.... What the heck's going on with Beckham? No change at all in his approach? This is not boding well for his season....well, hopefully he'll snap out of it somehow, he's simply too good not to. Two changes and both are not working. One is the use of the spread stance, and the other looks to be a change in hand position. Whatever they are doing its making things worse. Its time to bring in Walt before he gets ruined.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 11, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Exactly. I know what it costs for the plant. Very, very well. That was my job. And I also know what they do to try and compensate. Most people won't know the difference. They turn on U-Verse HD and it looks decent... I know what to look for, though. And the HD quality of Uverse is a lot worse then cable. Uverse However, I do know that Uverse is also trying to change their technology a bit. I think they should have done so before they rolled out, but they were in a race to try to capture homes passed so they could drive their subs up. Now, they have to go back and spend more money to do it right. Cable - one of the first things that Time Warner did when they came into this market was upgrade the plant. But the problem with cable is that they run the signal through the nodes and you can have some heavy hitters on a node, and the node on the next block will be hit a lot less, but that's the breaks. They were working on controlling that, but they really have a hard time with that. They were trying to split the nodes to address this problem, but they can't totally compensate for it, so you have a degraded signal in one neighborhood as compared to another. Again, most common people don't notice it, but it does happen. I have been working with some ATT engineers provisioning a new OC-12 for my datacenter. One of them stated that they are working hard on another medium for the last mile. Wifi /LTE/Wimax are being investigated due to the last mile issues and the cost of having to replace substandard copper at the prem.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Teahen really needs to just be in a platoon with Nix, he has no prayer against LHP not named Mark Buehrle. A platoon wouldn't be the worst thing. But you realize, that if any infielder outside of Kong are moved out of the lineup, Omar is Guillens next option.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 11, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) One of the things that they are really trying to do is find more bandwidth with cable. They're running out. The VDSL2 is a technology that heavily compresses video signal, but the converters should compensate. You cannot get a better signal then the FIOS because it's all fiber and no old technology. But at some point Verizon is going to lose their ass on it because it is very cost prohibitive. Once the depreciation on the plant wears off, unless they have a whole s***load more subscribers, I can't see where they can remain viable. Compression is always the providers answer to getting more channels over the existing last mile provisioning. Compression however becomes costly from a quality standpoint with all of the HD channels. The HD signals really are going to cause chaos with the available signaling in the cable plant. FiOS use of the three wavelengths to provision their service as well as providing native RF signaling instead of IPTV gives them the greatest room for growth for HD. The problem with Verizon is its hard to grow with such a large cost for new subscribers.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) You left off fiber, fiber > cable. I have Verizon and I am on 25 mpbs, the difference is the upload speed is also 25 mpbs. Why a home user would need more than that is beyond me actually. What's taking AT&T so long to get Uverse out? QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) Fiber optic doesn't go through a phone line... it's its own thing. Actually the phone line and the coax line come from the same box. Insert southsideirish at some point in this thread LOL The simple answer is sure, Fiber > Coaxial Cable. However all things are not simple when it comes to broadband. In the end, due to costs and as frequencies start to open up my personal opinion is that wireless technologies such as WiMax or LTE or Wifi will wind up providing the last mile of service some day. The problem is costs, flexibility and sheer time to provision physical medium services will prove to be a waste at some point. Right now, from a user standpoint there isn't a whole lot of differences between current speeds of cable/FiOS ( Fiber to the prem ), and UVerse ( Fiber to the block ). As far as how they provision stuff and the future of what they can do, thats a whole different animal. UVerse uses VDSL2 as its technology. Fiber is pulled into these large cabinets call VRADs. These VRADS take a while to provision, lots of power and some space. Once a VRAD becomes operational then it uses either the existing phone copper or a WiFi signal as the last mile. Everything in UVerse transmits over IP including the TV signal which is based on IPTV. FiOS on the other hand is fiber to the house. Services are provisioned over separate wavelengths in the optical spectrum. Here TV is provisioned over its own wavelength and uses more traditional protocols. Only on demand is run over IPTV. The fiber is singlemode fiber which is lit to the block and then split to 32 nodes on the block. Cable, cable uses coax as the medium and the signal is split amongst frequencies transmitted over this medium. DOCIS 3.0 allows for high speed signalling over and utilizes DOCIS 3.0

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 10, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) 1st blown save and everyone's on the ledge. The 2.17 WHIP, .352 BAA, and the 6.75 ERA are more reasons to worry than his BS count. Closing Time: Bobby Jenks makes a mess.

Sending Beckham down is a bad idea on multiple fronts. 1.) The confidence angle. For all of you who think that sending Beckham down is gong to take pressure off of this kid. I think you misread this personality. I think it will do more damage than good. We stuck with Brian Anderson for a lot longer than this, and he was hot garbage. 2.) The hey we can insert X player in the lineup. Well guess what in Guillens world X player is Omar Vizquel. Thats who will be playing day in and day out in that position. Even with Beckham in a funk, what kind of real offensive upgrade are you getting, none. Nix is buried on Ozzie Guillens bench today. Do you really think that Guillen is going to see the light and play Nix. Its going to be Omar and thats pretty much how it will happen. 3.) He can fix X down in Charlotte. AAA is not the holding spot for tier 1 talent. Its the place for some top talent who are blocked, and a large amount of AAAA filler that is basically hot garbage. You can survive with major flaws in your swing in AAA because garbage is throwing to you. If anything he will come up, and have another adjustment as he starts to face good pitching again. Here is my suggestion. 1.) Drop the kid down in the lineup. The fact that this hasn't been done yet is a joke. Stop with the speeches about what the kid is or isn't and drop him down. 2.) Bring in Walt Hrinak or some other roving instructor to work with him. I am not getting into a debate about the hitting coach, but obviously this kid who is pretty damn valuable for the organization needs some specific help. A different voice is needed. 3.) Spell him based on matchups. You don't have this kid face Roy Halladay, etc until he gets his s*** together.
