QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) My parents big screen blew out a few weeks ago. My dad is getting up at 4am to get a great deal at Circuit City. Crazy. You might want to have him check the online site now. I got my doorbusters online today from Circuit City. Its the same price that was advertised for the Black Friday ads.

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) Since when is shoving hot dogs down your throat not gay porn? Well for one, those hot dogs are not physically attached to a man's pelvis. -
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) This will be one of the sales on Black Friday at Target. If you're interested, you can go pick one up today or tomorrow and then bring the receipt Friday or Saturday and get a Price Adjustment. I've spoken to numerous managers and also have read of tons of other people receiving back the same info from corporate. They will do price adjustments on their Friday sales. Save youself the madness of Friday if you're looking for a good LCD deal. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html?asin=...amp;LNM=Primary This was a special online price that they put out last night and it sold out right away, but your local stores probably still have some they can sell before Friday. I bought this TV a year ago on black friday from MicroCenter for my bedroom. Not bad, no major problems. Paid something similiar but had to wait in line from midnight in the cold and the rain. Doing this from your house is a much better way to go.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 10:36 PM) Ernie Young, Chicago guy. I wonder if he grew up a Sox fan? I dont know if he was a sox fan or not. But he was a good guy. I played against him at Lewis. He was incredibly gifted at that level, he had a pretty good arm covered a lot of ground in the outfield, and looked like he would do something in the minors. Then he became a career minor leaguer. He was one guy that I thought would of progressed. He hit a bomb off of me that luckily hit a tree, or it may have hurt a car driving by. I thought he went to De La Salle, but he actually went to Mendel Catholic. So the probability is high that he was a sox fan. .

OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 09:59 PM) Just because the result was poor doesn't mean the idea was flawed. I assume this also means we're not going to get Yabuta -- or any Japanese reliever -- which I think is f***ing assinine. Cleveland just picked up a guy for a third of what we're giving Linebring and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Kobayashi outperform Linebrink. I wouldnt be shocked to see us still get Yabuta, and move some of the fireballers out in a trade. I think after last seasons debacle in the pen, Kenny is trying to get a different mix in here. -

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 10:13 AM) I like the Cabrera Trade. Very Good #2 hitter and dependable with the glove. Sould help Fields out and Richar. Hi guys, Long time no see Whats up kid. Long time no see. Good to see you on. Dont be such a stranger. -
QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 10:01 AM) The economy is now global in nature, business prizes employees who can speak foreign languages. Would it not make sense that the current immigrants are facing a world where speaking English just is not as important than 100 years ago and any trends would reflect that? Don't we receive what we reinforce and reward? I have worked for 3 international companies, 2 extremely large ones including a Dutch owned one. And one mid sized. At every one, the predominant language of the company was English only. It was rare to run into someone who cannot speak english. It was up to the location country personnel to be able to communicate in the local language. That was the entire reason that they were employed. I would say that only a small small minority of the executive or higher management teams could converse in more than one language. The international language is English.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) Glad to hear you believe he's really 33. We don't need another Contreras. Some Sox reporter should do an investigative piece on that one. He appears older than he's listed. Did you cut his head off and count the rings. How the hell did you come up with this. Are you an expert in the signs of outward aging. This is a stretch.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
southsideirish71 replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(That funky motion @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) According to a Yankees official, who asked not to be identified because he is not directly involved in the decision, the Yankees have inquired about Chicago White Sox closer Bobby Jenks to set up Rivera. Jenks had a strong season (2.77 ERA, 40 saves in 46 chances and a record-tying streak of 41 consecutive batters retired), but a deal is considered a long shot. The Yankees' best hope is that the White Sox fail to sign free-agent centerfielder Torii Hunter and thus ask the Yankees for Melky Cabrera or Johnny Damon in a trade. Hughes or Joba then we are getting somewhere. Jenks for Damon. This involves drugs. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 05:41 PM) How excatly would you approach that? Would you tell your kid that you will be monotoring their activity? Or would you spy on them? Remember I specialize in electronic surveillance and network security. My house is one large lab. I have an isolated wireless network that my wife can use without surveillance. She however has assisted in generating traffic for me by willingly going on the gauntlet side. Right now I am testing a new traffic reconstruction script that will tap traffic, hit on a keyword, then email me the traffic stream for analysis. So my kids dont have a prayer. You never tap anyone's traffic without their knowledge. To me, if they know they are being watched it helps craft behavior. When my children get to a point that they are on the internet I will give them a talk similar to the dont talk to strangers one. The internet is a dangerous place, filled with bad people. There is knowledge, and good stuff out there. But never forget what lurks behind the shadows. They will know that the network is monitored. The internet at home should be monitored, but parents should discuss this with their kids. Let them know, and then talk to them about it. You cant just put your head in the ground, and you cant just lurk behind the shadows. The people at my company know what I do. They know my role. Its out in the open, and when people get caught they admit that they knew that I was watching, yet they couldnt help themselves.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) Again, where did I claim I knew anyone or that this is anything more than specualtion on my part? Where? I have been a poster on here for 3-4 years and have never claimed inside sources. A deal is done. I believe that. It is done. It will be announced between tomorrow and Monday. I believe that as well. You can quote me on that as well. So when this happens and I am right - you can see who knew what. If I am wrong - then guess what - I was wrong. Big whoopdeedoo. Why someone would take what I posted as fact is beyond me - especially since I claimed no sources and said that from the beginning. Then explain to me why Torii was having dinner with Hicks last night. Is he hard up for a dinner.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 05:03 PM) Again, believe what you want to believe. I am telling you that I believe he is already signed and an anouncement will come by Monday, but quite possibly even sooner. My guess it will either be announced tomorrow or Monday. We already have him. My opinion. My speculation. I never claimed anyone told me or I got an inside source, I am just voicing my opinion. How does that lead me with egg on my face? Now if I claimed an inside source, like others on here, and nothing happened, then I would have egg on my face. Now, it is just one person's opinion against anothers. So be it. The problem that people have is your verbage. Saying "I believe he will be a white sox when all is said and done" is different than your quote. Saying the deal is done, right before Torii has a nice dinner with the owner of another team, his agent, their GM talking about Torii coming to the Rangers. If a team has a deal in place, he would of called off the meeting. You dont go an meet with another team owner, listen to their plans, have them woo you, at the owners house if you are signed already. He may come here, but to say a deal is done with what happened last night is a bit of a far stretch.

$99 Spy Software is the answer We spy at work, you should spy at home. Especially with kids.

His agent is Satan. He isnt that good.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 08:50 AM) Probably because you are a pessimist. I am telling you it is done. Believe it or not, we already have him. They are just waiting to announce it. Then why was Hunter at the Hicks residence last nice enjoying a nice dinner, conversation and talks of baseball.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) With the trade for O. Cabrera, it seems now that Uribe will be moved to free up more cash for the eventually signing of a big ticket FA. T. Hunter seems to fit that mold. So what can we actually expect to get for Uribe and who is looking for SS help? I found this: The best part is in bold. http://www2.tbo.com/content/2007/nov/20/sp...r-moves/?sports If Uribe can see his feet, he can catch just about anything out there. He just cant hit
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) I still don't understand why everyone wants Hunter so bad still. Do you all want to be the Giants of the American League? Take a look at the makeup of this team. What's one more old guy. At this point, you might as well just go balls deep.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) Right or wrong, Mexican nationals see the wall as an insult. The projected impact is very troubling to say the least. I see interviews on TV, hear them on radio, and see them in print. But no one is talking about that on the national level. It's as if we don't matter at all. It is rare to find any elected official on the border in support of the wall. Tourism is this area's #1 industry. The wall may directly hurt our ecotourism by blocking access to very desirable areas near the river. It may hurt our International Tourism. It makes the area seem dangerous. In no way does it help. I find the blatant disregard for our nations sovereignty a major insult. I find it troubling that their nation thinks that our border is a porous gateway. I find it sickening that they are complacent in the invasion of our country. They don't like the wall, I could care less. Tell them to stop invading our country, and disregarding our laws. I came here using the proper routes. If my family couldn't of gotten in, we would of made life in Ireland. Just like the rest of our family. We wouldn't of just decided, well they said no, lets invade. I have lots of family that have worked in all sorts of countries. The minute their work VISA expires they go back. Some of them really like the area.. But its part of following the rules of that nation.

QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) Well they do play in different leagues. Now read what you just typed, and then take a look at Mr. Ecksteins offense. Then project he isnt in the minor leagues anymore and he has to face good pitching in the American League. Being Irish, I have a special place in my heart for the wee people, and their magic. But let me assure you, Mr. Ecksteins magic pixie dust can be someone elses problem. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Any and all things The Wiggles related. I have taken every step to keep the wiggles and barney out of my house. I have introduced my son to Tom and Jerry, Woody Woodpecker, Chilli Willi, Droopy and the rest of the old time cartoons.

The way the score is talking, the sox are now looking to move Uribe. Now free up that money and this is looking better. Cabrera > Uribe -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 11:53 AM) You know what.......if you care.....I think we made a good trade for both teams. We have a GG shortstop and we have legitimate depth on the infield. I still think Uribe would be a GG 3B and the Sox can move both Fields and Crede this offseason if need be. The only way we move Fields is if we can get Cabrera. You dont move cheap young position players in a system devoid of position talent for more old players who make lots of money.
