  1. Ventura resigned or Aaron Rowand as the next manager. Prospects moved out for aged vets past 30 years old. or No moves besides a minor pieces for the bullpen because they believe 2016 was an aberration.
  2. Amazing how foghorn sprung back to life after they found someone to replace him.
  3. At the Louisville bats game. The pitch clock in the minors is interesting.
  4. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) LOL Hawk said Avi is a five tool player and he still has a chance to make it. All he has to do is continue to listen to Todd Steverson. Say goodnight, Hawk! Well he can join Beckham in the many tool players that are still searching for success.
  5. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) Sox dont need a total rebuild. Keys to 2016: Injuries: Austin jackson, Putnam, petrika, Avila Implosions: Albers, abreu Misc implosions / DL / disappointment : shields, Navarro, Lawrie, Frazier, Robertson , bench, farm system Biggest -WAR: Robin Ventura With a decent manager this team should be 5-10 over 500, if everything is clicking like it should we're right there with Cleveland WAT
  6. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) Concise and to the point and correct. You don't give away your core group of players for peanuts just to placate a segment I'd the fan base that melts down after every bad play, every caught stealing, every hit allowed or every loss. Its much better to continue the same course of action and hope for division wide regression and for the annual retread/player over 30 to do their thing on the back of the card and hope for the best. Its really a simple thing. You either have to develop talent in the farm system via the draft and international signing period and then develop them or spend gobs of money on free agents. You cant ignore both and hope that everyone around you fails just enough to squeak out a winning season. Enjoy the 77 to 84 win seasons for the next decade if thats our plan.
  7. They are going for it next year. They will add some veteran to replace Avi. Hahn and KW are looking at the back of the cards and hope for regression from the rest pac k in the AL central Chris Sale will be traded at the trading deadline of his final year after a very public contract negotiation when they will hope for a hometown discount. Basically this isn't going to change until the nepotism gravy train of former sox players having important positions in the organization is over. That is the post Jerry era. There is no plan right now.
  8. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:57 PM) David Robertson, Miguel Gonzalez, James Shields, Justin Morneau, Melky Cabrera are all still here.......why? World Series 2017
  9. Prospects for some random Cincy MLB player.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) I completely agree, but I'm just saying that Jerry probably thinks why trade those players when he thinks he can win with them in the future. Also Kenny is probably whispering in his ear about how we are primed to win the world series.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) Man I'd love to have Omar Vizquel here to work with Anderson. He's really helped Iglesias He picked the ball clean, it was on the glove to hand transfer that it got messed up.
  12. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 05:56 PM) I think they'll stand pat. Hahn will talk about how the right deals weren't there, and Kenny will talk about how it pays to be aggressive, but you can't spend a dollar if you only have 50 cents, etc. Just prepping for the worst, guys! I tell you though, if they bring Robin back next year, i'm done with the team. I see Spencer Adams and some other young talent moving out so Kenny can go after his 1% lottery shot. They will sell it as we are not just adding for this year, but for the upcoming years.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 11:01 PM) The Sox usually show up to play better teams. It's the last place teams they struggle against. And teams in their division.
  14. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family Jeremy.
  15. Having a bunch of grade school kids shagging flies is one thing. Having some 6 foot + kid robbing it at the track is s***.
  16. There was one slow mo where Frazier had his hands real tight, almost touching his chest and then the bat head lagged through. Drilled an inside pitch out. Amazing whip in that swing. Just wow.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 01:34 AM) Aren't the Sox like one or two over .500 with Anderson aboard? That's not exactly a great team. Folks, I worship Anderson. I have no complaints. But cmon. It's embarrassing to have a leadoff hitter with one walk in as many at bats as he has. He has no chance of drawing a walk which means the law of averages over 500 or 550 at bats is going to give him at maximum, about a .275 average. If he was selective and could walk a reasonable amount, he'd be AWESOME. he's got some pop, so mercifully move him to fifth or sixth in the order. If you must have him that high, bat him second and he can advance Eaton. If you are worried about Tim's strikeouts, again, bat him fifth or sixth. It's just beyond belief this guy can't get on base unless it's via bat on ball. MOVE HIM DOWN, ROBIN. It's just gonna be a matter of time the baseball gods thrust him in a 1-for-25 type slump and get that average way down. Why? Cause he won't walk. Thank god you are not in charge. So move him to second and what have him bunt or hit to the right side all the time because it fits some baseball formula you like.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 10:14 PM) No sir. I LOVE Anderson. But a leadoff hitter has to draw some walks and it's embarrassing, flat out embarrassing that he won't do it. Embarrassing? Really to who. Some random guy from Kansas on an internet board doesn't approve of his plate discipline. Maybe he will retire. LOL
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) They'll let Robin ride it out and only reason he'll be gone is his contract expires. To be replaced by some other legacy who played for the organization at some point. Hoping that those who used to have their posters in their room will overlook their lack of experience. This organizations plan is to try and catch lightning in a bottle and hope for regression by the rest of the division. They will never risk a full rebuild because of "these kids can play".
  20. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 08:26 PM) That was dumb but I think Eaton chose to do that one. Wasn't a suicide and Anderson was kind of caught off guard there He was moving down the line on contact. That was a play put on by the bench. If it was a bunt called by Eaton, Anderson wouldnt of broke down the line on contact.
  21. QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) While I'm on a roll and we continue to suck ass, can anyone f***ing explain why Cubs fans show up in their gear at the Cell? I could care less about the fans coming in with cubs gear. How does their homeless mascot get into the park with his cubbie pajamas.
  22. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) Another s***ty AAAA player Sox fans have inexplicably given savior status to. Way to make the play there Tyler. I am sure that in your little league you were the best shortstop evah.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 01:45 PM) That was just ridiculous. Sands against a righty who throws a lot of fastballs. This bench construction has made no sense all year. Considering that Ventura likes to bunt couldn't the pitcher have bunted there? Or the pinch hitter who cant hit? I guess we can only let that happen if the #3 hitter is up.
  24. They are not as good as the 23-10 team that we thought they were. They are also not as bad as the team that is losing like crazy and dropping like a rock. They are a mediocre team. They will right the ship and get back to .500 baseball for a while with a run here and there in each direction. The question is will Ventura make it to the ASB. And will Williams ship off half the prospects to appease the fan base and make it look like we are going for it.
