5/31/16 Game Thread: White Sox @ Mets
southsideirish71 replied to hogan873's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 31, 2016 -> 07:31 PM) We have good players going through a real bad stretch. What user with posts Luke referenced us it doesn't really matter rivthecauthor of Saud posts just what us happening. It could be a bad play, one game list or this horrible stretch and all you get is the same ranting. The team needs fan support as well as to rally around themselve. We don't need garbage from make believe fans Maybe we could get everyone to wear blue believe bands on their wrists to show their support. Or fly a W after wins, or blame a goat or a guy with head phones for losses. Maybe the team needs a hug. -

QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ May 17, 2016 -> 11:06 PM) I guess I don't remember this and remember it being a double play. Rule 6.06© Comment: If the batter interferes with the catcher, the plate umpire shall call “interference.” The batter is out and the ball dead. No player may advance on such interference (offensive interference) and all runners must return to the last base that was, in the judgment of the umpire, legally touched at the time of the interference. -

The batter would of been out and the runner would of returned to his original base on the interference. -

Jose is having a hell of a time with pitch recognition on the slider away. He had committed to that pitch very early. On that take his hands dropped to start rotation. He needs to clean that up or he is going to see a steady diet of junk away. -

QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:40 PM) nothing will top this game as the most frustrating I have NO idea what AJ was doing on that ball hit to center.. going to cost us the game Stop acting like this was some can of corn that he blew. It was a running play back to the wall. He jumped a bit early on that. Its a lot harder of a play than people are making it to be. -

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 1, 2016 -> 11:09 PM) Fair enough, but that's obviously not his point. No matter the experience he gets he'll never have played pro ball, he'll never understand the mental or physical side of the game, or anything relating to the human side of the game. To Benetti, the players aren't men, they're just amusing little mice with statistics. To Hawk, the players are living breathing men in the trenches of a war, with injuries, differing levels of intellect, different strategies, different levels of nervousness, different backgrounds etc. things Benetti will never be able to comment on. Thanks for telling me the guy's batting average benetti. I get it. He gets on base 34% of the time. That's what the number means. Oh, you want to use advanced statistics? How dare you act like you're teaching any of us baseball- you've never played. I'm sure he's a nice guy and he'll be great. This is just my hazing period for him. And rightfully so. No Sox fan should just hand over the keys without him earning it. It'll be hazing season for a while, hopefully a long while. He's trying to replace one of the most unique and iconic broadcasting figures this world has and will ever see. A true master and a true legend. On the meatball scale, this post is a 9.5 out of 10. The trenches of war. You can only do this if you played the game. Thats rich. LOL

John Danks should never start for the White Sox again
southsideirish71 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) This is real life, not a fantasy team. Baseball organizations need to be careful in how they handle veteran players who were once pretty good and won a lot of games for that organization. DFAing Danks after a few bad starts in April would be counter-productive from a PR perspective, especially after the LaRoche fiasco. Not to mention a waste of money as well. It would be much smarter for the Sox to move him to long relief. This is real life. And in real life pitchers who throw 86mph without deception, exceptional control and crazy movement wind up getting hit exceptionally hard in the majors. Its why we don't see a lot of these guys playing in the MLB. You want to put him in long relief? Why? Do you think his control, velocity, deception, or movement will somehow get better in this role. Wait till it gets warm at the Cell. Do you see a path for success for him. Or are you stashing him there so he can gracefully bow out. The money is a sunk cost. Move on. Next up. -
Why are the camera angles consistently behind some fans head or their hands are blocking the view. I feel like I am in SRO seating watching the game at times. Clean until something happens then everyone stands up. Nothing.
-
Nice Kill. Now its time for one of the superstars to put one in the back of the net. Plenty of time left.
-
A dumb penalty at a bad time. Lets go Hawks.

I am sure there are cub fans who miss Ron Santo and his quirky homer style as well.

Wow that was a clinic in what not to do on the bases. Magical failure there. -
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 12:15 AM) Arrieta will have a significant shoulder injury within the next year or two, guaranteed. He throws completely across his body in a manner developed by moving further on the pitching rubber. I see Andrew Miller whenever I think of Arrieta. If he was coming out of college everyone would be screaming injury risk. Granted, he may have a World Series win by that time, but no way I'd sign him to a long term deal His mechanics are relatively clean. He curls his lower half around that might give that illusion but lands straight and doesn't go across his body. Nice recovery phase. I dont know if his mechanics scream shoulder surgery to me.

A team as offensively talented as the Hawks has a hell of a time gaining entrance with the power play. Other teams can setup and take shot after shot on the goalie. This has been the same issue for years. Its mind blowing.

Love the camera angle with some dudes melon right in the middle of the camera.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 11:07 PM) Was there ever a doubt? They've now blown two 2-1 leads and a 3-1 lead in this series. That is pathetic Now too many men on the ice. Terrible.
