QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) He didn't need to tell her to sit the f*** down? Why not? Why didn't he need to tell her that? If she is ruining his enjoyment of the game why doesn't he need to tell her that? because civil adults don't act that way. when you swear at someone, you are escalating the conflict and inviting it to be taken to another level. that was unnecessary. the guy i heard on dan patrick's show who was right there (he was in the frame in a blue shirt) said davis's wife was getting stoked, standing up and cheering for her team. the guy told her something to the effect of "hey lady, sit the f*** down." if you tell me that, we have a problem. if you say it nicely, we don't. i'm not saying davis's wife was right. she wasn't. neither was axelrod. as i said, adults behaving badly.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) Wisconsin down 16 to North Dakota state with under 2 mins left in the first half. EDIT: At home might I add. i doubt it holds, but if it does that is the upset of the year right there. -

QUOTE(spiderman @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) I could be wrong, but hasn't Cowley moved on to the SunTimes ? I could have sworn I saw an article or two later this winter by him. Anyways, either way, Cowley is the best. From the radio side, I think both stations in their updates tend to report anything in the paper as their own stories, by using the 'sources say'. Levine seems more intune to trade rumors, most of which turn out not to happen, but he does hit once in a while...Ofman, to me at least, seems to be behind Levine, in digging up information, but he's the Score 'equal' to Levine. the sun-times and southtown have the same corporate ownership, so they have the rights to run each others stories. cowley did have a story in the times, but he is not a staff member there. -
i've always thought cowley of the southtown does the best job. he seems to have pretty good sources and generally i like him when i've heard him talk about the team. gonzalez of the trib did not impress me this year. padilla from the sun-times was ok, but he just left for the la times. it will be interesting to see who the s-t pulls in to cover the team this year.

bears/t.o. meeting reported, but unconfirmed

it's interesting. dan patrick had a guy on his show yesterday who is in the video and was sitting near the incident. he said the guy had "definitely" been drinking. the guy said he wasn't, and said he "never" drinks at games. hmm.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) I agree she has the right, but if she does then she has to expect something to be said to her if she is on the road against a known rival. Axelrod did not get out of his seat to confront her. Why she felt the need to do that is beyond me. well, it happens. you mean to tell me you've never seen anything like this happen at a game before? it was adults behaving badly. she didn't need to confront him and he didn't need to tell her to sit the f*** down. that word really starts a lot of people.
-
not surprising. i kind of thought something would happen after the last arbitron's came out and the score made up so much ground.
-
after hearing numerous accounts of this, it's clear to me that this was just a case of two adults behaving badly. mrs. davis has a right to get up and cheer the team she's rooting for, just as mr. axelrod has the right to ask her to sit down. i've seen situations like this happen often at just about every kind of game i've attended. it's clear to me that both allowed the situation to escalate past the point it should have. in this respect, security should have been on the seen quicker than they were. reports i've heard say they did not arrive until a.d. was on the scene. regardless, as much as i like a.d. his actions have made this more of a story than it probably needs to be.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Was this started on the poo board? (Chicago Bears Official Message Board) actually, i heard it from my brother. he works down at the cboe and said some guy on the floor said he'd heard it that day. i saw it later on the bear board. damn internet rumors. blame al gore i guess.

nothing in the papers about this today. hooray for me for starting a bulls*** thread.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) Oden looks unstopable. I can't wait to (hopefully) watch my school take on Lawerance North in the state championship. oden is a beast. i mean, what can really be said about him that hasn't already been said. he finished with 33 points, 16 boards and five blocks. he is dominant and will be a stud for osu and then whatever team is lucky enough to have the no. 1 pick in 2007. conley is a nice player. not flashy, but solid. he had 16 points and six boards. had a nice play where he broke the press, drove the length of the court and drove right in for a basket. he will contribute at osu, but he isn't going to come in and start in front of jamar butler, and butler will be there for two more years after this year. and eric gordon is a total stud. i haven't commented on him too much in the past because i hadn't seen him play, but he was impressive tonight. 27 points, more than seven boards and one of the nastiest shot blocks you'll see a guard have. gordon has great hops, can score in a lot of ways and i thought played pretty good defense. i also like his demeanor and the fact he plays fearless. it was just one game, but if this is an indication of what he can do, illinois potentially has a great one.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) I rather have my Cowboys pick him up. I'll give Angelo mad credit for having the balls to go after T.O. i like that he's at least checking it out. i've always wished angelo thought more creatively when putting together the team (think kw), and this is the first example i've seen of that.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) T.O. was quoted as saying "while it was a good dinner, it would have been at a better place if Ted Thompson(Packers GM) was at the table instead." then he said the meeting abruptly ended when angelo did not pass him the salt quickly enough.

am1000's mark malone reported angelo had dinner with t.o. last week to "talk."

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) Greatest day ever, I repeat. There were 2 crying Illinois fans living below me at the time. It was a great win. Probably the most exciting game of that year. Big win for the Bucks last night, but there is a tough road ahead. The teams in the big ten have ALOT of challenges to overcome down the road, even a good team could lose bunches of games down the stretch. It should be an exciting race. Its really any teams conference. don't get me wrong, a great game. unbelieveable game. it just sucked. i have to give credit to osu fans, though. most were pretty classy as i drowned my sorrows and got totally faced at the varsity club. -

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 04:44 AM) Big win for the buckeyes today, they have easy sailing on out till the big show down with Illinois in March. No reason they should not win every game up to that one. illinois and osu play feb. 12. i don't think i'd chalk up road wins at iowa and michigan just yet. -

two wisconsin players to miss osu game -
i don't know what's worse, illinois fans getting overly defensive or people who don't like illinois and have agendas in any post they make regarding them. regardless, i'll avoid getting into some long-winded discussion with people who are always going to find fault with illinois regardless of circumstance. i'll just say i'm confident in illinois coach, in its recruits and in the overall direction of the program. i'll leave it at that and let others get into the dogma.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) 7 220 Wilson, Rodriques SS 6-1 227 South Carolina -- F : Not even on the team anymore. he is. he got injured in training camp and ir'd for the season. he played well in camp and could challenge for a roster spot next year.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) Illinois is not going to sniff another big ten title after this year for awhile. Bruce Weber cant recruit and has had his success with players that were there before him. He doesnt even have a class on the top 25 incoming while OSU, MSU, and Wisco do. http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=477059&sid=910 here is the updated rankings. the class is thin. there is another scholarship out there that could go to patrick beverley, ramar smith or deonte vaughn. either of those three guys would bump the class up. expect the 2007 class to be among the nation's best. as it stands, it is very easily a top-10 class and the addition of rose would make it top-5 or better. illinois will be fine. also nice to see one of weber's first recruits (shaun pruitt) stepping up and having a huge game against the big ten's best big man last night.
