  1. The way Alexei stands when he bunts is just terrible . All batters attempting to sac bunt need to squat and keep the bat knee high. Any high pitch you let go. ALexei stands almost straight up with bat up.
  2. I hope someone has tweeted as many of our draft picks as possible giving them links to Soxtalk and other tweetsites.
  3. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) It seems as if the arms we have been targeting tend to be very fresh. I wonder if that's something they look for? Guys with lesser experience so they have a better chance of shaping their pitching minds and tendencies. Also less injury proine I would assume. That's exactly what I noticed. Guys who have fresh arms haven't been pitching long meaning they are babies in term of pitching yet already do it well. So upside might be way higher.

  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) That has him listed as an OF and they called him a RHP above? Not much current info on him : PRIOR TO LSU Played the 2010 season at Yavapai (Ariz.) College, batting .267 in 55 games with nine doubles, one triple, three homers, 22 RBI, 24 runs scored and six stolen bases ... worked 10.2 innings on the mound in eight appearances, recording a 1-0 mark with a 2.53 ERA, one save and five strikeouts.

  7. Quenville with a great coaching job. Switching lines up at the perfect times to get results.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) Man it is very very unlikely but Dominic Smith at #17 would be the best case scenario tonight. I didn't think the Sox had a chance at Hawkins last year and they got him though. I will keep my fingers crossed. I think it could happen . He isn't projected to go too much before the Sox pick and I've seen him slotted much lower also .
  9. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 12:33 PM) Creating this thread due to the following concerns: I didn't see Mike mention Saturday while posting his concerns so if he is talking about days other than Saturday all games should be available because that's what you're paying for with Extra Innings When the SOx are on WCIU just have to watch the other teams feed of the game . When on WGN either you switch to WGN , channel 307 on direcTV or again get the other teams broadcast of the game.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 11:05 AM) I'm sure if you asked the players, they would all say Robin has their back. Ironically, the same probably couldn't be said about Ozzie, a guy who did tangle more with umpires. I do agree players shouldn't be babied, but I think some take Robin's demeanor as meaning he lacks the ability to discipline and/or doesn't care so much, and doesn't really want to manage. I think that is assuming an awful lot, and I believe the assumptions are probably very wrong. The fact is we all baby these players from time to time. We all have come up with excuses about their failures from blaming the weather to saying it is a coach's or managers fault they didn't execute. When Robin gets angry enough to get loud, it probably is very effective, but yelling really doesn't work when it is an act or when it's overdone. Robin being Robin will ultimately work a lot better than Robin being Ditka. Logically you're right arguing with umps results in nothing being changed 99% of the time so why do managers do it ? Plenty of effective managers do it when they know it changes nothing if only because you have to let an ump know you think the call sucked and you're hurting my team. You hurt my players, my team and I hold you accountable. That does mean something to players as does not going out there when you should.
  11. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 11:18 AM) Alex Rios & Dylan Axelrod for Wade Davis, Eric Hosmer & a prospect Crazy, yes, but I'd do it. Take the flyer on Hosmer since we don't have any 1B plans, see-ya Adam Dunn, and Coop fixes Wade Davis for us, so that way even if we trade Peavy we've just got RHSP between Beck, Johnson and the rest. Trading within the division and 2 non contenders. Crazy indeed .
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 08:31 AM) I've seen a lot of posts wanting Ventura yelling and screaming at players and umpires, thinking that makes a difference. Where you work are the most effective bosses people who yell and scream at their employees if the results haven't been what they expect? Do you yourself respond better when being yelled at? I know I said yell at umps but all managers use this to some extend to show players he's got their back. Never said do it all the time nor yell at the players. You're a team of highly paid professionals who are out there to win and supposed to be united in a common goal. An ump who makes a bad call is the enemy. It's not a drastic or unsportsmanlike move to show anyone who interferes with winning not on your team deserves scorn. This in no way that should translate to employees getting yelled at by employers or to win at all costs on any kind of amateur level be it college or little leaguers.
  13. Got to see this http://www.southsidesox.com/2013/6/5/44008...ty-dumb-history especially Dumb Thing No. 7: Adult fan plows over small child to retrieve the grand slam ball.
  14. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 08:31 PM) Since peavet went down and while the blue Jays are not having a grea season how about making some kind of a trade for Buehrle. He might not win us a bunch of games but will bring thre team together in the clubhouse. Ending his career with the sox A noble idea but the Sox need young position players not an old guy past his prime . Not only that but taking on that contract is not a great idea either.
  15. Well on his way to "I think Gordon's full potential is .300, 25 HR, 110 RBI (per year) " from that risen from the dead thread in which you posted .
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) That's great, but I'm sure you didn't have, you know, trainers around you to help you with something like this. I thought the same thing but maybe this team mate ,if true ,had done it before successfully.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 05:09 PM) So is shooting jump shots with a baseball easier than shooting with a basketball? Not sure what your point is. The sport might've developed differently if the ball was baseball sized. Might not even be what we now call jump shots. A ball that small creates a whole other game, maybe a smaller rim or higher up . A ball that's 1/2 inch (guessing at the difference) smaller in circumference like the women's ball doesn't create any difference it the way you shoot the ball . You'd only have to get accustomed to the difference in weight but shoot the shot in the same way. Plus you can't dribble a baseball. If your baseball basketball game is allowed 50 years to develop and the rim is the same size and height ,however they end up shooting the ball , whatever technique is perfected and grown up with , then yes I think that smaller ball would result in better shooting percentages.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 07:04 PM) It's the sqwert magic. A long winning streak has just begun. Don't push it , you're lucky you got one
  19. How do you feel about your chances of making the 1st cut ?
  20. Hope you had fun watching the 16 inning crazy game today Marcus.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 03:46 PM) So I take it we will continue to f*** with Santiago then? Hey you got your wish. He's a starter now.
  22. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 05:07 PM) Dan Hayes said on Twitter that it may have happened from a teammate cracking Jake's back... Is that a joke?? I've had people do that to me and you fold your arms in front of your chest to protect it as they lift you from behind while you exhale.
