  1. Kings have been bad on the road in the playoffs. Hawks just carrying the play to this point. I'm glad the Hawks got by the Red Wings. The Wings played some dirty hockey that they seemed to get away with for the most part holding sticks, slashes and cross checks away from the play. Kings play it cleaner. And it was a redirect by Hossa on Keith's shot.
  2. Hawks out shooting Kings 13-2 but losing 1-0.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) It's hysterical that a supposed home run hitting team is 13th in the league in homers. Can't hit anything out lately. A least 4 game homerless drought.
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) So was Thomas in the pre game Frank wanted Viciedo hitting 3rd.
  5. There's the off speed stuff away on Adam , very 1st pitch.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) I've seen Keppinger play a lot in his career, and he was never this much of a stiff. You have to wonder how much the injury in the offseason has impacted him physically. In his defense he's been hitting.345 over the last 18 games.
  7. Spacing out our hits nicely. Maybe we can have a few men on again for the rally killer.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) He needs to pull the ball to the right side of the infield and try to advance the runner. You could hit into a DP, but that's the normal baseball perspective on hitters who aren't 3-4-5 guys in the line-up. We don't need outs we need hits and Conor is one of the few hitting the ball hard consistently and if you want to advance the runner with an out ,bunt. I'd rather not risk the DP .Ideally yes pull the ball and try to get it in the hole since the infielders are shaded up the middle. Unproductive outs are the norm not the exception.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) Gillaspie unproductive out. Is that a bit of sarcasm ? Unless your bunting in that situation you hit away . Looking for a hit there and to drive the ball. He hit it hard just at someone. Most outs are unproductive but if you're going to make an out with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs it needs to be productive.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 01:25 PM) Quintana making some brutal pitches with 2 strikes so far. This team is so incredibly flat this week. Changes have got to be made soon. Soon is not soon enough.
  11. Dunn must be an idiot . The very pitch he should be looking for (soft stuff away), he doesn't seem to be ready for. Granted that pitch was a ball . P K's.
  12. Kepp and Gillaspie and Pk only ones hitting and Kepp and Conor 7th and 8th in the lineup.
  13. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 09:17 AM) These numbers prove once again how stupid general managers are. Agents everywhere are laughing. That's for sure. If you're going to take on $70mill. , it's sure not going to be be on a guy like Upton.
  14. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 11:10 AM) He must not really care about managing. I really hope they show up today, I'm going to be really sad otherwise. I'm sure the Sox players are very supportive of Dunn ( and I know this is very farfetched) but if most of us are depressed with him maybe so is the Sox lineup and that's why it's so lifeless.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 12:34 PM) Where's Rios going to play? From everything you read, they'll move Kinsler to the outfield to keep his bat in the line-up unless they to find the right trading partner for Profar. Cruz is their regular RFer and you don't want to play Rios in CF again if you're the Rangers. They've got Murphy in LF. It's not like Rios can't play CF adequately or left for that matter probably better than Kinsler or Murphy out there . Kinsler would move back to 2nd base. Cruz is a couple years older than Rios and his days in the outfield are numbered.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) You do realize Alex Rios is as close as we have to a franchise player right now in our line-up? Either him or Viciedo, for the time being. Will agree about the way cheaper, but "maybe just as good," there's not much clear evidence yet of that. That's why you make the trade. Lot's of salary gone. Still have decent starting pitching. You let PK retire and that's more salary gone + the extra TV money. Martin has played a lot for the Rangers this year and has been pretty good and has a lot of skills. I doubt the Rangers would even consider giving up 2 of their top 3 prospects for so much salary , but you never know since they are hungry for a championship and Peavy and Rios could give that to them. We get younger cheaper and have lots of room to make more moves. Frankly ,I think it's a steal for the Sox and the Rangers would never consider it.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 12:11 PM) The White Sox can't compete in 2014 without Rios. They can, however, manage without Peavy much easier...and, they can sign a pitcher in the off-season, if necessary. Would still have a rotation of Sale/Quintana/Danks/Axelrod/Santiago/Johnson. 6 deep. Sure they can. Martin is younger and maybe just as good as Rios, way cheaper too. Plus there might be more moves after this since Alexei or Beckham or both could be moved if you have Profar.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 10:27 AM) http://www.rantsports.com/mlb/2013/06/01/s...icult-decision/ http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/05/31/3425...-jurickson.html Talks about how the Chris Davis/Hunter trade for Koji Uehara backfired but was done with the right intentions Peavy, Konerko + Crain for Jurickson Profar + another prospect from the Rangers Trade to be made ONLY if the White Sox are 8-9-10 games out in July. I must've posted in invisible ink : CaliSoxFanViaSWs... post Yesterday, 02:57 PM Peavy and Rios to the Rangers for Jurickson Profar and Leonys Martin.
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ May 31, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) Not sure what its going to take for Robin to try out something else..... Dunn's release.
  20. Peavy and Rios to the Rangers for Jurickson Profar and Leonys Martin.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2013 -> 11:31 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-201614409.html PROS 1) Would give us a more recognizable name for marketing 2) Could shift DeAza to LF and Viciedo to 1B/DH 3) LH power (to supplement Dunn's failings)....short porch in RF, similar to Yankee Stadium 4) Great human interest story/local ties 5) Experienced player who knows how to win 6) Phil Rogers would go nuts writing articles about him CONS 1) If the White Sox are more than a couple of bats away from competing, it could be a waste of money and block Trayce Thompson when he's ready (although Granderson could also DH when Dunn leaves) 2) Precious resources in off-season need to be spent carefully...other areas will be important, perhaps catcher or the bullpen 3) Granderson's age 4) Inability to hit LH pitching 5) Expectations might be too high playing so close to home.... 6) Granderson's a "name"/well-known player, but not a superstar and won't draw too many fans of his own without a winning team Not ideally suited for the Sox considering it would have to be multiyear and he's not likely to ever be as good as he was. Looks more and more likely the Sox will be eating the rest of Dunn's contract. If he plays all of this year and next I will be vastly disappointed. I might take a chance on him this year as a rent a player if he is healthy and Yanks want to move him but they would have to eat some salary.
  22. I really can't comment on all this because I am a MEATHEAD. The Sox are my team I look at them as objectively as I can. I hope they do well and if not I hope they can make the necessary moves to get better as quickly as possible. I believe in retooling rather than rebuilding. That is all. If someone can put the Sox logo on my avatar i would appreciate it just pm me.
  23. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:43 PM) Serious question...Is Carlos Lee retired? Would he come back to platoon with Dunn? Near vet minimum? Would it even be worth it at his age? He was awful last year but the year before he batted .348 with a 1.028 OPS against LHP.... It'd also be nice to let him finish his career where it started. He very well could be done and sitting at home getting all out of shape. Manny Ramires is still available. Just have to pluck him from Taiwan unless he would still have to serve time for his roids use. Said tongue in cheek , sort of, but the Sox rolling merrily along with Dunn is pointless.
