White Sox vs. Royals 5/8 6:40 NBCSC
He played yesterday and went 3 for 3 with a walk and HR. He's nearly ready. I'd say he's back in the lineup tomorrow. Editing this to say since there are no Minor League games today and it's close to game time and he's not in todays lineup that maybe they want him to play in another game before he comes back so maybe Wednesday he'll be in the Sox lineup. I think he would've been back already considering the Monday off day.

Opening up my mind to giving the season a clean slate
Nice post Richie. Despite the obvious flaws in the bullpen it would help immensely to either sweep or take 3 of 4 against KC. Of course just when we start to think they can put a little run together injuries and inconsistency rear their ugly heads. Have to win the 1st game against KC.

The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread
Congrats @Harold's Leg Lift ! You took a lot of s%*# sticking by Kelenic. I don't think any of it came from me. As a matter of fact I suggested the Sox try to trade for him this past off season among my many young LH OF suggestions over the last couple of off seasons. It's still early but so far so good for him.

2023: MLB news not AL Central-related
As of yesterday Outman has 1.7 fWar which is tied for 10th in baseball and is playing CF without any errors. LH, Power, speed, defense, high OBP . Precisely why I wanted the unranked rookie. The highest White Sox position player is Luis Robert, Jr. 1.1 fWar who is 49th in baseball. https://dodgersway.com/posts/can-dodgers-james-outman-miguel-vargas-go-toe-to-toe-in-nl-rookie-of-the-year-race-01gzh4m9paqz https://dodgersway.com/posts/can-dodgers-james-outman-miguel-vargas-go-toe-to-toe-in-nl-rookie-of-the-year-race-01gzh4m9paqz

And That's a White Sox 17-4 Winner !
I was thinking that myself. Unfortunately. Someone else would have to break that down. They'd have to find 5 key position players on each team who have similar injury histories over either a 2+ or 3+ year period. That by itself would be difficult. That's 5 of 9 starting position players and we all know how bad RF and 2nd base have been in that time so it's effectively 5 of their best 7 position players. But that 2 of 162 in 2022 where they all played together is ridiculously low. The best ability is availability.

And That's a White Sox 17-4 Winner !
There's a ton of blame for the rebuild crumbling and deservedly so. Also a lot of blame for the team looking terrible so far this year and also deservedly so. However, besides Hahn and management's refusal to build any kind of depth, I'm here to remind us all that near the top of the list is injuries. I know, I know ,a lot of teams have injuries and building depth helps good teams survive it. However I will throw some injury stats at you concerning 5 key players to the Sox rebuild, Moncada,Grandal, Anderson, Jimenez and Robert that I stole from a CHGO episode after the 17-4 win. Games Played from 2020-2023 Moncada 308/418 74% Grandal 268/418 64% Anderson 267/418 64% Robert 255/418 61% Jimenez 219/418 52% 45 games all 5 played together or 11% 25 games in 2020 (Covid 60 game season) Record 16-9 12 games in 2021 Record 9-3 2 Games in 2022 Record 1-1 7 games (so far) in 2023 Record 5-2 If we eliminate the Covid year in the last 2+ years those 5 have played together 21 times in 358 or just around 6% of the time and went 15-6 . The podcast wasn't sure if the total number of them playing together was 45 or 46 games from 2020-2023 but the overall record of those 5 playing together was 31-15 and most of that time Eloy and Robert never were at their peaks together. Eloy is also out for 4-6 weeks now so those 5 won't be playing together any time soon but they've already eclipsed the 2 whole games all 5 played together in 2022 and despite the piss poor pitching and record this year , amazingly enough, they are 5-2 when they are all playing together in 2023.

And That's a White Sox 17-4 Winner !
Charlotte won 18-11, Moncada 3-3 with a HR. Colas 10 for 23 since he was sent down although it looks like the Sox have coached all the HR's out of him. He does have 5 doubles in his 10 hits. Still seems like he's not barreling up balls that much. He just muscles balls all over the field. Hendriks pitched an inning , gave up 2 hits and a run.

Hahn has to be gone after that botched rundown
I know you didn't pick it out after the game I saw the post was from 2 hours ago. Look you follow baseball, I just don't see the point or the connection between a botched rundown and Hahn needing to go. Hahn needing to go was established many years ago and baseball games are 9 innings not 1. Seasons are also 162 games not 35. Things are bleak. I think we all get it.

Really ?

Hahn has to be gone after that botched rundown
So we're into picking out a bad play in one game ? I saw the highlights from the Angels game yesterday. They threw the ball all over the place. It's baseball. Seems like they got over it since the the Sox won 17-4.

Nightengale: Gio won't be on 2024 White Sox
??? Great timing started playing decent baseball and Nightengale comes out with this ? It's like Eloy and Robert are both hot at the same time, quick, put something in Eloy's drink and give him appendicitis and knock him out of action for 4-6 weeks. Burger picking up where he left off hitting bombs and even playing OK at 3rd base ? Bam strained oblique ! Who's next from the Sox ironmen that would hurt the most Cease? Vaughn ? Benintendi ? Hmm a starting pitcher going down right when Hendriks comes back seems about right .

5/7 Sox @ Reds 3:10 CDT
Nah the whole Sox history as a franchise is like that. The Reinsdorf era isn't much different than the last 100+ years.

And That's a White Sox 17-4 Winner !
2 series wins in a row . Cutting into the run differential deficit. One brief shining moment ?

Glad to see Vaughn have a good game. How the hell did he get a triple ? He's been hitting the ball hard and hasn't had much to show for it.

5/7 Sox @ Reds 3:10 CDT
It's like me hoping in ST that all the core guys could stay healthy and tap into their potential because Robert and Eloy could never stay together and play together at their peaks. It still isn't happening and the team is still piling up injuries. But for one game against bad pitching it looks pretty good. Eloy and Robert barely started to get hot at the same time and look what happens. Eloy gets an appendectomy right out of the blue. It's like some sadistic baseball God hates the Sox .

Eloy Jimenez has appendix removed, out 4-6 weeks per Grifol
This is both funny and sad.

Wow I can't believe I just dropped in and here you are saying the same thing I said at basically the same time.

Probably not but when the ball is hit on the left side you're not supposed to advance to 3rd .Better safe than sorry . It wasn't a bad baserunning play at all. He's already in scoring position. I think you are nitpicking.

I was thinking that also since he was moving away from 3rd and a throw back towards 3rd would've been difficult but it's possible since it was so close to 2nd that he could've flipped the ball to the 2nd baseman who would then throw to 3rd. He would've made it to 3rd if his 1st instinct was to go to 3rd but in that situation he was probably right heading back to 2nd base. The ball just got to the SS very quickly since it was hard hit.
