  1. Terrible hire and even worse if he has influence over acquisitions.
  2. I finally came to this conclusion too. As much as I distrust the ability of Hahn do to do well in trades, there are some guys who can get good pieces back. Abreu, Lynn, Giolito, Hendriks, Graveman, Kelly, Pollock , Harrison, even Burger and Sheets could get something. Target young fast 2 way players and pitching. Take any offers you get fro these kind of players even if it looks like you are getting the worst of the trade. Too many DH/1b types and not enough pitching talent in the upper minors. Give up on paying big money for relief pitching and dump TLR.
  3. This is how I look at it. Tell me another manager that does better with the people on the roster, underperformance and the injuries. Maybe another manager has the Sox at .500 . Big deal.
  4. I'm not arguing one way or another who should DH or who should play the OF. It's pick your poison any way you slice it. Vaughn belongs at 1st base. Abreu is in the way and he might be a valuable trade chip along with Hendriks, Gravemen, Kelly and Lynn. You might get a minimal return for Pollock and Harrison but they should be moved as well. I also don't care if they move Sheets or Burger just to rid themselves of DH types. At this point if trading Eloy and Moncada is not in the cards because of their nonperformance or injury and value being down the only way the Sox can compete next year is to roll with their upsides. If you trade so much pitching then you better get some in return and let Davis Martin pitch the rest of the season and perhaps you can get a few LH promising bats too.
  5. So are you recommending Vaughn, Sheets and Burger all sit or just Burger and Sheets sit ? I'm very unclear on your plan. Is the team better with Haseley in the OF every day and the best defensive lineup you can find ? It's one thing to say or the bad defense means extra pitches for the pitchers but how many bad defenders should be in the game at one time? How do you know who is going to get the ball hit in their direction more often in every game where it makes a difference ? If the season is lost play the young guys and who cares about the defense. Time to learn on the job and if the pitchers suffer so be it. Find takers for the older guys like Abreu, Hendriks, Harrison, Pollock, Lynn and see if you can get some more upper level arms. There is no time for sentiment.
  6. So the plan is to win games by scores of 1-0,2-1, 3-2, 4-3, 5-4 because of all the great defense you're going to get taking Burger, Sheets and who else out of the lineup ? Vaughn too ? Worst defensive WAR on the Sox by far. I'm sure you realize you are damned if you do and damned if you don't at this point. Harrison is the 3rd best Sox hitter in June by OPS. Robert leads the team in RBI by far with 14 in June but doing it with a .700 OPS. You put Vaughn and Abreu behind Anderson and you're begging for DP by one of them. Arguing for a better defensive team is pretty much the same as arguing for a better offensive team. Either the offense or the defense messes up good pitching performances. Or maybe because runs are scarce the 3rd bas coach keeps getting runners gunned down at the plate. Or just one bad relief appearance means a loss. The margin for error is slim regardless. I do agree Yoan has to play but if he's playing every other day what good is that ? Do you think Vaughn reaches the ball that barely eluded the 6'5" Sheets in the OF yesterday ?
  7. In the last 15 days who has more HR's ? A. Mendick, Zavala, Sheets, Harrison, Pollock. 151 AB for this group in 15 days. Season Total This Group has 14 HR's. B. Abreu, Burger, Moncada, Robert, Vaughn, Anderson. 227 AB for this group in 15 days . Season Total this group has 39 HR
  8. So in retrospect the Sox weren't bad enough during the rebuild and they aren't good enough after the rebuild. Is this what Hahn meant by mired in mediocrity ?
  9. Colas should be promoted to AA soon. He put a miserable May behind him and is just raking now. Time for him to be promoted to Birmingham. He'd do well there considering he doesn't appear to be just a basher. He likes to spray the ball around. That would play well in Birmingham. He's also been playing CF .
  10. Just to make one positive post in this truly miserable thread so far: Oscar Colas in June 94 PA: .379 .415 .563 .978 Colson Montgomery June 84 PA : .403 .476 .522 .955 He also got promoted to Winston-Salem (A+) . In his 1st 2 games he went 4/9 with a HR.
  11. .379 .415 .563 .978 Colas in June 94 PA. .403 .476 .522 .955 Colson Montgomery in June 84 PA.
  12. If that's the case why wouldn't he have told him before ? I think u guys make up scenario's in your head. No manager hopes any player under him fails.
  13. I didn't see anything wrong with the tag. Caught it applied the tag and held it on him. Mateo just beat it.
  14. Man Robert wanted that last pitch to crank it 500 ft. I'll take that swing.
  15. Damn you started it off good but I expected the Multiverse of Madness instead of Hell universe .
  16. Pretty much what the Oriole announcer said and "surprised" Sosa not starting.
  17. Orioles trying to rub it in the Sox faces and Sox bending over.
