  1. Wow you don't say ? This is a major shocker to me. I never saw it coming !
  2. Well if you bought into the competitive window lasting 10 years then I suppose we are in the middle of it but it ended when JR hired TLR and not only did he manage poorly but him and the coaches were solely responsible for everything that went wrong. But have no fear ,I have it from an inside source that Pedro Grifol is on a mission from God.
  3. LOL but what about the FA OFers we must have ?
  4. What is your source to say almost every had spent their next allotment as well ?
  5. Based on a lot more but spin it any way you want to fit your narrative. I could make 1000 posts about him telling you everything you want to know about him but if he isnt "ranked" he's a loser yet a good organization like the Dodgers has high hopes for him. If we don't get him and the Dodgers don't trade him or sign an OF would it be a terrible if the Dodgers played him and gave him 300 AB's or more ? That's what could happen. You guys act like I'm the only one who wants Outman. Plenty of other people around here rather have a shot at a good defensive OF w/ offensive upside than pay for the rejects currently available. Any plan you could come up with isn't going to happen either but if it does I suppose you'll be thrilled with Gallo.
  6. Better than your dream of wasting money on Gallo
  7. Yes he got more money but his intention was always to sign with the Sox. By waiting other teams could've upped their offered and signed him too but he chose the Sox. Plenty of teams wanted him.
  8. OMG yea we might have a -.3 and -.4 like we did with Vaughn in 2021 and 202 or the .1 WAR we got out of Sheets. The horror ! Conforto or some other OF for $10M+ will propel the Sox to the playoffs ! Maybe you should start thinking about what could go right. More money for other fixes and cost controlled players for 6 years instead of expensive rejects for 1 year and then you have to fix the problem all over again.
  9. People who want to sign those guys also want Colas to start the year at AAA. I also don't want 1 FA OF. Trade for Outman. Have 2 Rookies in the OF and get some OF defense flowing. I would have expected someone better than Payton for depth too. Same crap different year. If we put up with Vaughn in the OF for 2 years how can it be worse than he was ?
  10. Nope but nothing else substantial to discuss. It's Foodies bashing time. Same old same old.
  11. Yea the Sox shouldn't f*** with him. He bent over backwards so the Sox could pay him by waiting for them to have the money. He might already be starting his 2nd yr. in MLB if it wasn't for that.
  12. I have no problems getting OFer's just not the rejects who will cost more than they are worth. Hell I've been posting all of November about OF's. I already answered all your "or's". This team isn't going anywhere without about 8 guys we already have staying healthy and producing. If that doesn't happen having money to spend will make the transition easier in 2024. Kind of weird you weren't too worried about Vaughn's 1st year in what was then a much brighter window than it is now. Colas will put up a better fWAR than Vaughn did in 2021 and 2022.
  13. LOL It is crazy how divided we are. Plenty want to choose from the OF reject pile of FA's while everything is pointing towards that not happening. Very few trade pieces worth much of anything on the 40. The one guy who is still worth something, Hendriks, we have no clue if they would actually trade him. A lot of talk but there's a long off season ahead and we'll just end up hoping some how, some way that we never see Eloy in LF again, Moncada can find whatever it is he's missing, Robert can show he isn't still made of glass, Kopech can make major progress , Anderson can find the straight and narrow again, Giolito figures out what went wrong last year, Grandal can give us some positive WAR and Colas is a savage.
  14. These veterans on short term contracts do NOTHING for the Sox. The player gets all the advantages. They get decent money while the Sox spend money they profess not to have. Can we all agree that the Sox are not going to contend unless many of the assets we already have stay healthy and progress towards the promise of their pre injury or previous years ? The biggest of these are Giolito, Robert, Eloy, Kopech and Moncada. Then how do these veterans help if those guys can't contribute in a big way? If they do contribute in a big way then looking for young controllable MLB ready players who can possibly contribute just as much at a far lesser cost would more helpful now and in future years. If you get a vet and he revives his career then he's gone with or without the Sox winning. Go young. Stop the revolving door of throwing money down the drain. The Sox already have way too many reclamation projects on the 26 to risk money on more of the same.
  15. I'm still trying to figure out what Sox fans in their right minds would rather spend money and get Conforto ,Brantley, or Gallo and play him/them over Colas. IF you prefer that and still criticize Hahn you sound just like him.
  16. No , not really Katz was recently talking about how Lopez really likes the challenge of being a late innings reliever. That's the reason why I've been suggesting trading Hendriks. Just put Rey in at closer. Probably won't get you Hendriks like results but Hendiks might be the only guy capable of netting you a decent return that could net you a LH MLB ready OF and something else if they expand the trade a little it to include one of our prospects.
  17. I mentioned Varsho as one of my targets last year and he responded with a career year. Really solid offensive and defensive player . Good power still only 26.
  18. Nice he got another year . Who would've thunk it ?
  19. Isn't it unusual that there's nothing in Future Sox about our guys in Winter Ball ? Where are you getting game results from ? Just from your post I can see Perez already played 32 games with Margarita in the VEWL. Not sure that Venezuelan Winter League even has a AAA talent level but he is doing fairly well. But he is playing against older competition . Probably seeing some Venezuelan crafty vets.
  20. Agreed probably a few guys in the $1-$5M million range for the pen. Sign them trade Hendriks. Sox need to trade some guys while at their peak once in a while when the farm sucks, especially when the Diaz contract is making Hendriks look more enticing. They can go for MLB ready or guys in AA.
  21. Exactly. If you notice this about Reynolds from the story: "....having played just 13 games with Triple-A Indianapolis. During a breakout rookie year in 2019, Reynolds hit .314 with an .880 OPS across 134 games, with 37 doubles, four triples, 16 home runs and 68 RBIs,.." Colas has had 7 games in AAA and is perfectly capable of having the same type of year as Reynolds did his rookie year. Pay way more and get less years when you may just get Reynolds type production from Colas through his pre arb . Put some faith in the guy who has shown in just one season in the minors he has All-Star talent all while adjusting to the states and missing his family. Colas wanted to be a White Sox so such he waited longer so the Sox could sign him.
  22. You reap what you sow. Don't invest in scouting and development, don't go after that many Int'l guys under 18 , trade away money and on and on.
  23. Same thing I was thinking. Nimmo us Jerry ! yea right !
  24. The Disney money is burning a hole in the pockets of owners and GM 's now. They got it and they're spending it.
  25. Everything you're counting on this year to compete involves big risks but the Sox need money and they backed themselves into a corner handing out too much money to guys like Kelly in the BP. Unfortunately you sometimes have to pay for your mistakes by giving up a tradable player near his peak. If a lot goes right and they need BP help there's always the trade deadline. It It's all up to the guys from last year to stay healthy and perform better. By this time the Sox were supposed to have 4 or 5 guys better than ABreu but they haven't done so yet. The risk is will they ever do it all in the same year. That's what we are waiting for.
