Edgar: 'Now there's something you don't see every day. ' Chauncey: 'What's that, Edgar? '

After the 1st AB when everything was in on hands and lately that was how they were pitching him . He's also less likely to flail away on the low and away pitches if he thinks he can't reach them.

Moved a little farther off the plate and it's made a difference for Luis.

I don't see why every hit and run shouldn't be a straight steal. Engel has the speed to make it work on a swing and miss. Shouldn't be hitting and running unless you think your guy can steal 2nd.

If you're not playing matchups you're not taking advantage of the 3 hitter rule for pitchers.

Still hasn't really had a full season worth of PA's in his career. He's still figuring things out based of that small adjustment he made after his 1st plate appearance. I'm not sure I've ever seen Moncada change his stance.

Doesn't matter. The possibility of the catcher throwing through in that situation is slim unless he wants Tim to steal home. Plus maybe the 2nd baseman covers 2nd and that ball goes through for a hit then and it's 1 st and 3rd , another run home and still 1 out.

2nd pitch was the perfect time for Robert to run. The pitcher didnt even look at him. If you cant run Robert on 1st and 3rd with Tim on 3rd and Abreu up when are you going to run him ?

He did move a little bit further off the plate so he wouldn't get jammed as much after his 1st AB

Damn it I wanted Robert to run on that 2nd pitch .

He's never been a 500 AB's per season guy. He does well ususally when he does play whether its 200, 300 or 400 PA . Outside of when he was 27 and got some MVP votes and close to 700 PA's he just hasn't stayed on the field long enough.

Not true at all Caulfield . His OPS since he was 30 is better than his career OPS. Probably closer to .830

He's actually had a pretty good career when he's not injured ,. Career .280 BA , .478 Slg and .813 OPS.

Actually Yo knew he had the relay throw beat no matter what. I would actually do the same thing sometimes trying to draw a throw in the hope they would throw it away. Of course I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt of that . But it's not a good look for sure.

KC may suck but they are hustling and recognize the Sox lack of hustle.

I don't know why any of these guys are expecting a fastball down 1-2 in the count.

Menechino is movable
Other teams manage to hit plenty of HR's . The Astros had 5 in one inning the other day and the Yankees have 3 guys with 10+ HR's. 4 of the 5 during that 5 HR inning were pulled. Kyle Tucker hit 2 in the game and both were pulled. JD Martinez hit a HR and it was pulled. 2 HR's that game weren't pulled Big Yordan Alvarez hit one oppo and Rafael Devers hit one just to the right side of CF.

Last year I complained the Sox weren't hitting enough HR's.

5/18 Games
Colas hit his 4th HR today. What's genuinely impressive is that this is his first year of competitive baseball since hmm 2019 maybe 2020 . Hard to tell by his stats page. Get him up to somewhere around 125 AB's and promote him .

Hahn’s 2022 Offseason (So Far)
How could TLR's usage of him be stupid? We had a closer, a very good closer. Trading for Kimbrel was just another way to avoid paying for a bat and trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Atlanta picked up 4 bats and look what it did for them. And after a full off season we still didn't get any LH bats. Every move Hahn's made since Kimbrel and Hernandez has sucked so far except for Graveman.Harrison, Leury 3 yrs, Velasquez, injured Kelly, picking up Kimbrels option, trading for Pollock, no QO to Rodon, no LH batters added, no starting pitcher of significance, prioritizing relief pitchers over improving the lineup. That kind of record of futility is quite impressive.

Sheets is really the only one that consistently tries to pull the ball. At least he knows his strengths. Grandal tries to pull it too but he's slowing down. The whole team just isn't seeing a lot of fastballs they can crush because pitchers are wise to their free swinging ways.
