  1. I broke my hand once playing 3rd and slapping a high throw tag on a runner. I had to bat the next inning. Basically hit 1 handed n got a hit on a dribbler down the line .
  2. Moncada always getting dinged is a very good reason why I wanted Escobar more than an OFer. And today isn't the 1st time I've said that.
  3. You are somewhat perplexed because projection systems do not rate the young highly until they have some proof that they are good. You constantly over rate him as a defender in LF in a small sample size. He will not get any faster and the longer he plays there the more he will become exposed when he isn't throwing out a snail like Cruz who made a stupid decision to test him and was gunned down by a mile. Until you have a substantial enough amount of chances in LF and he can prove he can hit 75% (RHP) of the pitchers in baseball at a better than .700 OPS the projections will not improve. I tried telling you this earlier and now you are perplexed and think he was dinged for 1st base because he should 've got a bump for his defense in LF ?
  4. I give you a good chance of being right. The Sox don't often think big especially when they are still PT Barnuming us the future. They could think a little bigger since they have quite a few pitchers on pitching limits and will lose Rodon and Lynn to free agency next year. They could go after Gallo and Kyle Gibson with the Rangers. Both have contracts that include 2022 and the Sox will need another starting pitcher for 2022 and a LH starting RFer. Then they could include Ian Kennedy for the bullpen who is a FA after the year. Sox can't keep giving up prospects for rentals . A least looking to the future for 1 more year would be good. Texas supposedly asked a lot for Lynn last year. They could do the same for Gallo and Gibson and hold onto them. But it is something the Sox should be giving serious thought. I also like the idea of taking Gibson off the market for any team to grab. 3 players would mean TX would ask for a bundle like Kopech and more so it would be tough to pull off but 2 yrs apiece from Gallo and Gibson might be worth it.
  5. No one want's to hear it but the Sox will eventually trade someone from the core, guys on the roster now or prospects nearest to MLB like Sheets, and Burger . When you look at all the 1st base DH types you have Abreu, Vaughn, Eloy, Mercedes, Sheets and possibly Burger it's inevitable.
  6. Just make it a blockbuster and get Gibson and Kennedy too.
  7. I thought it was the future and this year could be sacrificed to save all our wonderful prospects in our top ranked farm system so the Sox can continue on a decade long run of dominance with Cease, Kopech, Giolito and Keuchel (aged 34-35) for 2 more yrs while our as yet MIA pitcher Vera and studs Kelley, Thompson, Dahlquist all become quality MLB starters in a span of 3 years. Trading for 1 year of Lynn was just for fun . After all look at what a short period of time it has taken Cease , Kopech , Lopez, Fulmer and Dunning to become the horses in the rotation they are today.
  8. I like this for the term bum-slays. That's exactly what he and the Sox did while at home. On the road they haven't been so good at bum-slaying.
  9. The White Sox slaughter of the Twins last night put them a whooping 13 1/2 games up on the Twins in the Central Division. It also puts the Sox at 7-1 on the season vs. the Twins. The Sox have got incredible contributions all year from unexpected sources that have been forced into action by injuries. This continued last night as Gavin Sheets, Brian Goodwin and Andrew Vaughn all homered in the 13-3 rout. Vaughn also singled and drove in 3 runs. Sheets HR was the 1st of his career in only his 2nd game. Yasmani Grandal continued his torrid June by hitting 2 HR's and driving in 5 runs. He now has 14 HR's on the season to lead the Sox. Jose Abreu also homered to give the Sox a season high of 6 in a game after only homering 5 times in the last 10 games. As far as a response to the Josh Donaldson /Lucas Giolito controversy goes, the Sox let their bats do the talking. The crowd was thrilled to see Cease strike out Donaldson twice after he initially homered in the 1st inning amid a chorus of boos. The Sox have won 3 in a row and look to thrust a dagger into the Twins today in the final game of the series. Today's daytime action will feature RH Jose Berrios 7 - 2 3.42 ERA vs. LH Carlos Rodon 6-3 2.06 ERA LET'S GO !
  10. Anyone starting to get the idea yet that home field advantage would be a big deal for the Sox in the playoffs ?
  11. White Sox Sheets all over Twins in Grandal fashion. Goodwin.
  12. I don't expect HR's from Madrigal but now that he's out there is an opportunity to get HR's from that position.
  13. Every day someone doesn't like someone in or out of the lineup. You're always dealing with short sample sizes when it come to all these guys. You can play who is hot, you can play matchups , you can play better defenders , you can play guys in slumps you want to break out of them. There are no perfect players . Anyone in the lineup can be the hero or the goat on any given day. Hopefully enough of them do enough good things to get a W.
  14. One guy re-instated from the IL. One guy recalled after his rehab stint after being on the IL. 2 guys placed on the IL. Then there's yesterday when Lamb was put on the IL and Hamilton off it.
  15. I don't mind disagreements when they are fair and you are not one to put words in my mouth. Do I trust the Sox that they can make the playoffs in 7 or 8 of the next 10 years? Hell no . I don't trust them enough to think they can do it next year. If they are going to keep trading youth for guys like Lynn they have no shot at sustaining success. I liked the Dunning/Lynn trade because it was a signal that the Sox were serious about this year. Now all of a sudden there are fans that act like this year isn't that important because of the future ? If that is the case why would the Sox ever trade 6 years of a good prospect for a rental ? It didn't work with Samardzija and people think the Sox brass has turned over a new leaf ? If they have I'm not seeing it since they did the same thing trading for Lynn. Does everyone want to put their trust in Reinsdorf all of a sudden and trust injury prone guys like Eloy , Robert and Madrigal to stay healthy enough to win in the future ? I'm not buying it . I never will. I have seen enough in his years as owner to know that the latest carrot he is dangling is the promise of the future . He got us to wait for a rebuild and now its wait for the future again. Pretty soon 15 years go by and the carrot is still dangling out of reach.
  16. And that's what Hahn meant when he said they have to discover if the juice is worth the squeeze. He also said winning is sacred and we will treat it as such. We can b**** and moan all we want about who the Sox give up or if they paid too much for a 1 shot deal at winning now. That's what all the discussion was about when trading for Lynn , Shields and Samardzija . In the end it doesn't really matter. What's done is done. There wasn't any bitching going on about Tatis in the deal for Shields. It was all pretty much that Shields sucked. The point is with prospects you never quite know if that throw-in becomes something or if the great prospect flops. While I might also have an opinion on who the Sox give up is too much or too little it has no bearing once the deal is done. Dunning was given up supposedly to give the Sox a chance to win the World Series this year. Some hated it some loved it. If that is truly the goal I would feel a lot better about that trade if Hahn does what is necessary to continue that goal. Hahn won't panic but like the rest of us doesn't have a clue on who turns out to be a good prospect and who doesn't . He can only use the info he has just as we do. Its a hard situation to be in as a GM. Basically anything you do that doesn't result in winning the World Series this year mean you lost the trade if all you are getting is rentals. The odds are against you from the get go. Was Lynn worth it if the Sox don't win the World Series ? Will any rental be worth it ? If the sum of trading for rentals ends up a 0 .How can you possibly hope to give up 0 in return ? It's impossible.
  17. A few weeks ? Maybe 6 weeks or more is a few weeks to you but not to me. So we disagree that the Sox aren't desperate. That's fine by me. I want better players who hit more HR's and pitchers who perform better in the pen asap. I want that to win as many games as possible because I appear to be one of the very few who actually wants to win enough games to secure a home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The one thing I know so far the Sox have been good at home. They are not good on the road. They are not good against. 500 or better teams. They don't hit any HR's and the bullpen is faltering. Making deals mid-season is the same as it has ever been. Contenders need help and pretenders want to get as much as they can for impending Free agents. There is a bit of desperation on both sides. The contender wants to pay as little as they can knowing they need him while the pretender has to figure out the difference between losing that player for nothing and maximizing his value. None of that concerns me . I don't make the trades. I don't have to worry if another team thinks we are desperate . As a fan I think the Sox need help badly. Call it whatever you want too. The semantics don't interest me.
  18. Amen. I know we have a lot of posters all with different takes and biases but facts are facts. They need more HR's. Can't keep kicking the can down the road. That's management type talk. We should always want professional hitters who can also provide some options for their use like Escobar. A 3 run HR can put you instantly back into a game instead of wondering with 2 men on when the next GB double play is coming.
  19. White Sox will be looking for their 3rd straight win and 2nd against the Twins after a nail biter in the series opener concluded with a White Sox 7-6 victory. Tonight's game will feature Bailey Ober pitching for the Twins and Dylan Cease for the Sox. Ober is 0-0 with a 4.64 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. This will be Ober’s second career game against the White Sox. Cease is 6-3 with a 3.81 ERA and 96 strikeouts this season. Cease is 0-2 with a 9.18 ERA and 18 strikeouts in his career against the Twins. On a side note we'll see if there is any drama carried over from the War of Words between Josh Donaldson and Lucas Giolito. LET'S GO !
  20. After belting his 12th homer of the season in the first inning, a two-run shot with no outs to give the Twins a 2-0 lead, Donaldson appeared to yell “Hand’s not sticky anymore” while rubbing his hands together as he crossed the plate. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2021/6/29/22556854/lucas-giolito-takes-issue-with-classless-twin-donaldson-hes-a-bleeping-pest
  21. Not confusing at all. You have to figure Engel and Eaton will be back before Eloy and there may be a RF coming at the trade deadline. Long way to go before who plays where in the OF is decided.
