RICK HAHN MEETING WITH REPORTERS AT 2:30
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ok much ado about nothing but a little wishy washy on Moncada. -
I've made posts over and over regarding this topic and so have others many others regarding the need for Left handed power and why we continue to be in 1st place. The Sox have fattened up on weak teams in the division and have great starting pitching. They also play extremely well at home. They aren't so good on the road. They are 22-6 against against MN, Det., and KC . Right there is your 16 games above .500 . Against the rest of baseball they are .500. They will not be playing Twins. Tigers or Royals in the playoffs.

Hey if the Sox can get Escobar for Forbes I'm all for it. What if Moncada broke his hand and is out for 6-8 weeks and you have to outbid 4 other teams for him ? Escobar instantly becomes one of the better Sox hitters for a guy that isn't that great and can play 2nd or 3rd. I know nobody want's to give up much for any trade but something has to give. Either the Sox give up pieces people won't be happy about or they don't do much of anything and pray no starting pitcher gets hurt and we go limping in the playoffs for a 2nd straight year.

RICK HAHN MEETING WITH REPORTERS AT 2:30
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Could be that too but wasn't it just a 2 weeks ago that we heard that he was in the 4 week baseball activities phase of his rehab and after that a rehab assignment ? I'm asking because I honestly don't know how ago it was we heard about the 4 weeks baseball activities phase. -
RICK HAHN MEETING WITH REPORTERS AT 2:30
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not so sure. Did we actually ever hear that x rays were taken and came up negative ? Until I see or hear that , it could be about Moncada. -
I think you are one a very few who think the Sox have enough hitting especially power LH hitting. They also don't have enough relief pitching. The weak division is secondary . Unless there is a total collapse by the Sox they are winning the division. The concerns are more about going way beyond winning the division.
-
But the Sox do need power and RF and 2nd base are the only 2 positions you can put acquired power. If the Sox had to eat Eaton's contract or dump Lamb and Goodwin it wouldn't be that hard to do.
-
Gallo is primarily a RF plus he has 20 HR's hits LH and is a very good defensively while also being under contract (arbitration eligible) for 2022. Almost .900 OPS 145 OPS+

Burger Called Up, Eaton Activated, Burdi/Yermin Optioned
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am the biggest Yermin fan around but I have to be objective here. He's been bad and the Sox have bench pieces actually hitting and fielding a position even if not so well among some of the OFers. But damn the Terminator with the thumbs up is classic and fits the situation so well ! -

That is some weird shit to be saying if he said it ? I mean why would Hector Gomez be the 1st to quote this when we have Chicago writers all the time around TLR and Gomez is in the DR ? Edit: Thank you Rabbit. Gomez was reading a satire of TLR and took it to be real. This is the kind of shit that happens when there's too much TLR hate. -

Oh that's good ! -
The White Sox will be looking for their 5th win in a row after sweeping the "pests" from the Twin Cities. This is the opener of a 3 game Series with the Motown Maulers. The Sox will take their new found power strokes on the road along with Jake Burger who should make his major league debut some time in this series. Tonight we have RH Lance Lynn 7-3 2.06 ERA against Casey Mize 5-4 3.46 ERA. Mize features a very good slider and groundball rate and without the injured Yoan Moncada, Mize could be quite a challenge. The Tigers have put together back to back winning months and are 27-21 in their last 48 games. Lance Lynn should be equally challenging to the Tigers. On 6/3 in Chicago, Lynn pitched 6 innings and gave up just 1 run in a 4-1 Sox win. Mize started that game and Moncada, Grandal and Lamb all homered off him. The Sox have won 8 of 10 from the Tigers this year and the last 4 in a row against them. LET"S GO !!

I've already talked about a couple moves like that but I think he just wants to cover his bases since Jerry has supposedly given a green light to making the moves necessary and he's aware of how aggressive the Sox have been and the something big rumor out there that Blackout Friday started . They do need to replace Lynn and Rodon for next year. They could work on that now with a young controllable pitcher. There could be a blockbuster 3 way trade. They could trade any core piece that anyone would be shocked we traded. Trading Abreu would shock everyone. Beyond our wildest dreams would mean something that would also be crazy like trading our injury prone guys like Eloy, Madrigal, and Robert and getting a haul back .Basically what we seem to want around here is not remove anyone from the team except Goodwin, Eaton,Lamb, Mercedes, Marshall ,Foster, Luis Gonzales, Rutherford, , Ruiz and guys whose names we have to look up for everyone we need to fill 2nd base, RF ,bullpen and another starting pitcher in case one falls out from no sticky stuff , IP limits or injury. Everyone is afraid of trading away the next Tatis or Semien. One guy here is afraid of trading Adolfo. No matter what happens you know somebody isn't going to like it very much.
-
Samardzija another symbol of front office ineptness and a lot people actually wanted to extend him .
-
James Shields was hated the minute he got here. He sucked and continued to suck and has become the ultimate symbol of Tatis not being on the Sox and of front office ineptitude.
-
Floyd took a lot of whippings. The "Deer in the headlights" look I must've heard 1000 times. Jose Quintana actually got whipped often too for his "smoke and mirrors" act and for nibbling ,but he became good enough to net the Sox Eloy and Cease !

I love when you educate !

Better than being known as the guy who hates Vaughn when I actually don't . I'm still getting punked by someone who takes great pleasure in giving me laughing emojis on stuff I say. I'm pretty sure I know who it is but just watch I'll get like 2 laughing emoji's just for bringing it up again. But I'm fine with them . More points !
-
No if it was up to me he would play at least half the time against RHP and even more now that he's hot . I never once said in all my posts about Vaughn that he should be a weak side platoon. Look it up if you'd like. I have said his stats are terrible against RHP . I have said they are even more terrible on the road against RHP. Most of what I have said is don't send him down because we need him against LHP as opposed to others who said either play him every day against all pitchers or send him down. I have always wanted a happy medium without sending him down. I think I said once way back at the beginning of the season that he would be sent down once guys got healthy but the OF really never did get healthy. I have said you over rate him as a fielder. The one column you used in Total Zone has fluctuated from the 12 it was when you used it, back down to 8 and now 98 based on him throwing out Cruz. That's quite a fluctuation in a small sample size based on a couple of weeks since you used that stat. Would you now like to use that 98 to proclaim Vaughn as the best LF of all time ? Goodwin hasn't looked good I can admit that. But he did catch a ball that Vaughn might not have, going to his left and falling to the ground and also replaced Vaughn just as LF was becoming difficult to play because of the sun. Goodwin got an error on the throw home but it wasn't a terrible throw by any means. Kiriloff stopped at 3rd. The ball went over Vaughns head as a cut off man and 1 hopped the plate and Rodon took a swipe at it. Why Rodon was there I have no clue but he could have blocked Grandals vision. It was a throw that was missed by 3 guys all lined up to catch it . Usually a 1 hop throw not that far offline is caught by some one. But then again SSS so I would expect you to use it to proclaim Goodwin as not a capable MLB OF. I think he's just as good as Vaughn out there . But just like with many of our bench guys I am more than happy with the offense from them in their small samples and will continue to say defensive stats should not be used by amateurs. Sure Goodwin might be gone when Engel , Eaton, Eloy, Lamb and Robert all return but he has created value for himself as a hitter against RHP. For now that has made him a very useful piece when the Sox needed it most by hitting very good against RHP, being a plus on the bases, and being able to play all 3 OF positions. I don't think he's any worse out there then Lamb or Sheets and all 3 of them have had time in the OF so why not Goodwin ?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Welcome to the Chicago White Sox Jake Burger !! -
Probably have to ask @chw42. He's one of those guys who throws 6 pitches and gets a lot of chases, Mainly sinker, slider, changeup ,cutter. Would cost a bunch just because Gallo is hot and Gibson is having a career year. I think they are more likely to move Gibson because they may not want to risk him falling off next year. Getting both + Kennedy at TX. asking price is probably more then the Sox would be willing to pay. But for one stop shopping that helps this year and next year those 3 would be very good.
