  1. True especially offering a minor league deal . Some team will offer a million or 2. Folty here unlikely.
  2. Have you and Harold ever disagreed about anything ? You seem to walk in lockstep with him on everything. Are you 2 related ?
  3. Adam Eaton 2020 Sprint speed according to statcast 74th percentile =very good, outfielder jump 86= even better Joc Pederson 2020 Sprint speed 41 percentile= below average, outfielder jump 25=way below average Strange that both have an Outs above average of right around 20 . However Joc had 2 OF assists and Eaton had none and that does affect OAA. You would think with Eaton's much better speed and jumps it would be better than Joc. Maybe Eaton's better jumps could mean he reacts quickly but not accurately so his reads aren't as good and therefore that would affect the start of his route running which would end up being poor. I tested this theory by looking up numbers on route running and sure enough in 2020 Eaton's routes were a -1.4 Everything else was well above average related to his jumps, reaction, burst and feet covered. Joc gets bad jumps so his reaction time and his burst are bad but his route was 0.0 so better routes than Eaton but the lack of speed still hurts and and he doesn't cover as much ground as Eaton. Eaton was 11th in all of baseball so despite the bad routes he still covers a lot of ground. As another example we can use Eloy. Big dude slow to react, ultra slow burst but decent speed once he gets those long legs moving. Once he does react his routes are pretty good but the Burst is so slow he doesn't cover a lot of ground, less than Pederson. So by all this research I'd have to say Eaton is the better fielder. Of course I use 2020 and that's a short season. 2019 might be a better way to judge . You can use this link for the Jump leaderboard https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/outfield_jump?year=2020&min=q&sort=10&sortDir=desc This link for outs above average , just remember this stat isn't the end all be all of OF's because it's greatly affected by OF assists so in 2016 Eaton was 3rd in all of baseball in OAA while Joc's best ever ranking was 39th in 2019 when he had 5 OF assists and Eaton had 3 . https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/adam-eaton-594809
  4. Wasn't there a Tweet about it ? Then there was another Tweet about having offered 10M for Joc , he refused and Sox signed Eaton for $7 . That's a $3M difference . But then you have to figure they budgeted a certain amount for Hendriks that still preserved that $3M cushion.
  5. Hard to see it your way about the catchers. 1st the Sox desperately needed a good LH bat and OBP and they got both in Grandal. There was no guarantee McCann wouldn't test Free Agency especially if he put up back to back good years like he did. Saying just extend Mccann like its a given doesn't mean it would happen. If you're McCann and u sucked enough to get non tendered then this is your one big chance to shop your services to the highest bidder.
  6. Where have you gone Joc DiMaggio ?
  7. Why are people saying people are mad when I don't see a single post that is angry ? I know you are not a thin skinned dude.
  8. I don't think think far ahead . I'll be happy with a lot of hits this season. You and I might not be around to witness 3000 even in the unlikely event it happens.
  9. Spud Webb was shorter and he could dunk on a 10 ft. rim. I don't think a whole foot lower is out of the question for Madrigal to reach since you didn't say dunk . Still, 3000, yea good luck with that.
  10. So you think that if he starts in the minors and struggles you think he gets brought up anyway ? Or are you 100% convinced he won't be less than stellar in AAA or where ever he starts .
  11. Hey I agree it's a fun team just not quite what we thought it could be. Making excuses for Reinsdorf by trying to look at it from his point of view is admirable but strange based on his past behavior. I think saying Covid has a lot to do with it is the only way to look at it if you are going to give Reinsdorf an out.
  12. The five stages of grief are: denial. anger. bargaining. depression. acceptance. I think you are in the bargaining stage.
  13. So you are basically saying if the Yankees decide they eventually want Tanaka, such as at the trade deadline, they can just reach out and get him if they can come to terms. Tanaka probably doesn't do it with another team unless he gets a much better offer. So Tanaka willing to give Yanks hometown discount and forgive them for not signing him and forcing him back to Japan ?
  14. Well Jerry operates from a legal standpoint. That's the whole point. He doesn't care about the fans. Remember that post where I told you to use your head not your heart ? I love to get excited about the latest rumors from the Tweety Birds as much as the next guy. But I never show it because I know in my head we are talking about Reinsdorf. I might discuss how Wainwright wasn't a terrible idea or how Cruz would be a great acquisition because it's fun to think about. But I never believed it would happen as you can see from me reposting a few posts up that I doubted it would happen at the outset of the rumor. When everyone was all excited about getting Hendrick as I was also. I had another thought. Look at his contract. If that wasn't a clear sign that the Sox had reached their limit I don't know what was , otherwise why not just give him a 4 year contract without the deferrals ?
  15. Unlike all other sports with professional leagues in the U.S., baseball does not have to follow antitrust laws that govern player contracts, franchise movement and media contracts. The Supreme Court ruling said that baseball was a sport, not a business. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/why-baseballs-antitrust-exemption-isnt-a-strong-negotiating-tool-for-milb/
  16. The date on this was a week ago. Are we done ? Many believed this tweet. Should I believe in Nightengales tweet ? I believe we are pawns in a game that manipulates us. Covid keeps us from attending so owners cry poor. We don't show up as expected for mediocre teams , owners cry poor . Moral of the story : We say fuck you Jerry now but he's been saying fuck you to us for much much longer.
  17. I thought that but thought it might be short for business ;bih(sness).
  18. That;s some crazy stuff going on there. $18 3 weeks ago and now over $300 ? Big selloff coming like in minutes lol.
  19. The difference the between Sox offer and the Phillies when your going to get $125M is pretty negligible compared to the difference between let's say $11 and $15 for a 1 year deal. He got to go where he/wife wanted to be and get paid very well. I don't think any one was going under the premise that Philly was where he wanted to be before he went there.
  20. It's a pretty flimsy premise when you have a choice of going to somewhere that pays you better which is sort of the point of being a Free Agent.
