  1. You can challenge anything thats challengable if you haven't used your challenge in any inning. If you have lost a challenge you can still ask for one and the umps pretty much always will allow it .
  2. I'm more confident in Ruiz than Heuer. 8th inning hasn't been great for Ruiz but it wasn't been great for many others either.
  3. No such thing as an auto challenge. It has to be asked for.
  4. It's rare for any RH hitter to put up the kind of month Yermin did in MLB because of the proliferation of RHP . Luis Robert started out great then his slump was just as bad as Mercedes but he still provided a great deal of defensive and base running value. Being older and not having a position to play means they had to replace him. You can't carry 1 one dimensional player whose 1 dimension is broken. Vaughn is another rookie who has struggled against RHP all year but not to the depths that Merecedes or Robert did. If you are considered a key piece to the organization's future you are allowed to play your way out of slumps and adjust to MLB on the fly while the team is still winning . Vaughns case is different than Robert's and Mercedes in that before this season he had not advanced beyond A ball in the minors and much of his development was conducted in Schamburg last year when there was no 2020 season for him. The general consensus on Vaughn is that he will be a special hitter and needs time to hit RHP well. He already hits quite well against LHP. The slew of injuries in the OF has forced the Sox to play him out of position and into the lineup . Neither the April or slumping Mercedes is the real Mercedes. It's somewhere in between. There is such a vast difference that figuring out where that mid level is and seeing it consistently is problematic when you don't play a position and are not regarded as a future corner stone of the organization. I never actually thought he would get a shot with the Sox or much of one with another team. It was great he got that chance and did the most with it and unfortunate it could not be sustained . He was feast of famine in a position that didn't allow for famine unless the Sox paid $10M a year for him like they did Edwin Encarnacion.
  5. So you think 26 other teams the Sox are playing .500 against are all good teams ?
  6. At this point with injuries and a RH on the mound the only choices to bat middle of the lineup among LH hitters is Grandal, Sheets and Goodwin. Grandal is 4th already. Sheets is batting 2nd . That kind of only leaves Goodwin and his 1.193 OPS against RHP.
  7. Ok much ado about nothing but a little wishy washy on Moncada.
  8. I've made posts over and over regarding this topic and so have others many others regarding the need for Left handed power and why we continue to be in 1st place. The Sox have fattened up on weak teams in the division and have great starting pitching. They also play extremely well at home. They aren't so good on the road. They are 22-6 against against MN, Det., and KC . Right there is your 16 games above .500 . Against the rest of baseball they are .500. They will not be playing Twins. Tigers or Royals in the playoffs.
  9. Hey if the Sox can get Escobar for Forbes I'm all for it. What if Moncada broke his hand and is out for 6-8 weeks and you have to outbid 4 other teams for him ? Escobar instantly becomes one of the better Sox hitters for a guy that isn't that great and can play 2nd or 3rd. I know nobody want's to give up much for any trade but something has to give. Either the Sox give up pieces people won't be happy about or they don't do much of anything and pray no starting pitcher gets hurt and we go limping in the playoffs for a 2nd straight year.
  10. Could be that too but wasn't it just a 2 weeks ago that we heard that he was in the 4 week baseball activities phase of his rehab and after that a rehab assignment ? I'm asking because I honestly don't know how ago it was we heard about the 4 weeks baseball activities phase.
  11. I'm not so sure. Did we actually ever hear that x rays were taken and came up negative ? Until I see or hear that , it could be about Moncada.
  12. Are you kidding me ? If 4 or 5 teams are after Escobar I'm pretty sure a few of them will come up with more than Forbes including the Sox.
  13. I think you are one a very few who think the Sox have enough hitting especially power LH hitting. They also don't have enough relief pitching. The weak division is secondary . Unless there is a total collapse by the Sox they are winning the division. The concerns are more about going way beyond winning the division.
  14. But the Sox do need power and RF and 2nd base are the only 2 positions you can put acquired power. If the Sox had to eat Eaton's contract or dump Lamb and Goodwin it wouldn't be that hard to do.
  15. If Leury needs more rest then Burger will start. But a Burger/Mize matchup , RH vs. RH, is a tough 1st assignment.
  16. Gallo is primarily a RF plus he has 20 HR's hits LH and is a very good defensively while also being under contract (arbitration eligible) for 2022. Almost .900 OPS 145 OPS+
  17. I am the biggest Yermin fan around but I have to be objective here. He's been bad and the Sox have bench pieces actually hitting and fielding a position even if not so well among some of the OFers. But damn the Terminator with the thumbs up is classic and fits the situation so well !
  18. That is some weird shit to be saying if he said it ? I mean why would Hector Gomez be the 1st to quote this when we have Chicago writers all the time around TLR and Gomez is in the DR ? Edit: Thank you Rabbit. Gomez was reading a satire of TLR and took it to be real. This is the kind of shit that happens when there's too much TLR hate.
  19. The White Sox will be looking for their 5th win in a row after sweeping the "pests" from the Twin Cities. This is the opener of a 3 game Series with the Motown Maulers. The Sox will take their new found power strokes on the road along with Jake Burger who should make his major league debut some time in this series. Tonight we have RH Lance Lynn 7-3 2.06 ERA against Casey Mize 5-4 3.46 ERA. Mize features a very good slider and groundball rate and without the injured Yoan Moncada, Mize could be quite a challenge. The Tigers have put together back to back winning months and are 27-21 in their last 48 games. Lance Lynn should be equally challenging to the Tigers. On 6/3 in Chicago, Lynn pitched 6 innings and gave up just 1 run in a 4-1 Sox win. Mize started that game and Moncada, Grandal and Lamb all homered off him. The Sox have won 8 of 10 from the Tigers this year and the last 4 in a row against them. LET"S GO !!
