  1. One guy re-instated from the IL. One guy recalled after his rehab stint after being on the IL. 2 guys placed on the IL. Then there's yesterday when Lamb was put on the IL and Hamilton off it.
  2. I don't mind disagreements when they are fair and you are not one to put words in my mouth. Do I trust the Sox that they can make the playoffs in 7 or 8 of the next 10 years? Hell no . I don't trust them enough to think they can do it next year. If they are going to keep trading youth for guys like Lynn they have no shot at sustaining success. I liked the Dunning/Lynn trade because it was a signal that the Sox were serious about this year. Now all of a sudden there are fans that act like this year isn't that important because of the future ? If that is the case why would the Sox ever trade 6 years of a good prospect for a rental ? It didn't work with Samardzija and people think the Sox brass has turned over a new leaf ? If they have I'm not seeing it since they did the same thing trading for Lynn. Does everyone want to put their trust in Reinsdorf all of a sudden and trust injury prone guys like Eloy , Robert and Madrigal to stay healthy enough to win in the future ? I'm not buying it . I never will. I have seen enough in his years as owner to know that the latest carrot he is dangling is the promise of the future . He got us to wait for a rebuild and now its wait for the future again. Pretty soon 15 years go by and the carrot is still dangling out of reach.
  3. And that's what Hahn meant when he said they have to discover if the juice is worth the squeeze. He also said winning is sacred and we will treat it as such. We can b**** and moan all we want about who the Sox give up or if they paid too much for a 1 shot deal at winning now. That's what all the discussion was about when trading for Lynn , Shields and Samardzija . In the end it doesn't really matter. What's done is done. There wasn't any bitching going on about Tatis in the deal for Shields. It was all pretty much that Shields sucked. The point is with prospects you never quite know if that throw-in becomes something or if the great prospect flops. While I might also have an opinion on who the Sox give up is too much or too little it has no bearing once the deal is done. Dunning was given up supposedly to give the Sox a chance to win the World Series this year. Some hated it some loved it. If that is truly the goal I would feel a lot better about that trade if Hahn does what is necessary to continue that goal. Hahn won't panic but like the rest of us doesn't have a clue on who turns out to be a good prospect and who doesn't . He can only use the info he has just as we do. Its a hard situation to be in as a GM. Basically anything you do that doesn't result in winning the World Series this year mean you lost the trade if all you are getting is rentals. The odds are against you from the get go. Was Lynn worth it if the Sox don't win the World Series ? Will any rental be worth it ? If the sum of trading for rentals ends up a 0 .How can you possibly hope to give up 0 in return ? It's impossible.
  4. A few weeks ? Maybe 6 weeks or more is a few weeks to you but not to me. So we disagree that the Sox aren't desperate. That's fine by me. I want better players who hit more HR's and pitchers who perform better in the pen asap. I want that to win as many games as possible because I appear to be one of the very few who actually wants to win enough games to secure a home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The one thing I know so far the Sox have been good at home. They are not good on the road. They are not good against. 500 or better teams. They don't hit any HR's and the bullpen is faltering. Making deals mid-season is the same as it has ever been. Contenders need help and pretenders want to get as much as they can for impending Free agents. There is a bit of desperation on both sides. The contender wants to pay as little as they can knowing they need him while the pretender has to figure out the difference between losing that player for nothing and maximizing his value. None of that concerns me . I don't make the trades. I don't have to worry if another team thinks we are desperate . As a fan I think the Sox need help badly. Call it whatever you want too. The semantics don't interest me.
  5. Amen. I know we have a lot of posters all with different takes and biases but facts are facts. They need more HR's. Can't keep kicking the can down the road. That's management type talk. We should always want professional hitters who can also provide some options for their use like Escobar. A 3 run HR can put you instantly back into a game instead of wondering with 2 men on when the next GB double play is coming.
  6. Jimmy Wynn !
  7. White Sox will be looking for their 3rd straight win and 2nd against the Twins after a nail biter in the series opener concluded with a White Sox 7-6 victory. Tonight's game will feature Bailey Ober pitching for the Twins and Dylan Cease for the Sox. Ober is 0-0 with a 4.64 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. This will be Ober’s second career game against the White Sox. Cease is 6-3 with a 3.81 ERA and 96 strikeouts this season. Cease is 0-2 with a 9.18 ERA and 18 strikeouts in his career against the Twins. On a side note we'll see if there is any drama carried over from the War of Words between Josh Donaldson and Lucas Giolito. LET'S GO !
  8. After belting his 12th homer of the season in the first inning, a two-run shot with no outs to give the Twins a 2-0 lead, Donaldson appeared to yell “Hand’s not sticky anymore” while rubbing his hands together as he crossed the plate. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2021/6/29/22556854/lucas-giolito-takes-issue-with-classless-twin-donaldson-hes-a-bleeping-pest
  9. Not confusing at all. You have to figure Engel and Eaton will be back before Eloy and there may be a RF coming at the trade deadline. Long way to go before who plays where in the OF is decided.
  10. It Takes a Team (of scrubs) to come back from an early deficit to take a 7-2 lead. Give up that lead then hold on for the win by the slimmest pf margins. Props to Sheets on his 1st 2 big league hits and contributing to the runs we got and the runs we gave up. But overall a successful debut. Major props to Vaughn for 2 hits against RHP. Props to everyone with an RBI as they all were needed. Props to Giolito for a gritty start and to Burr for a great 8th inning and the only pitcher who didn't give up a run. @hi8isfor his usual message of Fuck the Twins and Donaldson .
  11. I'll take it. I wasn't expecting 7 runs by the Sox nor expecting a blowout. This is the Sox team we have now. I'll take any win we can get and fuck the Twins and Donaldson !
  12. And you using a 1 game sample size to make a point. No ones loves a small sample size like Ray Ray.
  13. Duh the guy I quoted used a 2 AB sample size you screwball. I used16 X his sample size .
  14. And overrated Mendick. The early consensus around here was Mendick was fine and we needed a RF . I preferred Escobar but admitted that we needed both and relief pitching.
  15. So 2 AB's while he was batting .357 ,.455 OBP .643 Slg. and 1.097 OPS against RHP and you're done ?
  16. He's in Kanny now. Aggressive assignment for him so he's not doing well which was probably expected.
  17. There you go just like I said Vaughn, Goodwin and Sheets is the starting OF L to R.
  18. I never expected the idea to be well received. Only offered it for discussion because I thought I might actually get some discussion on it. Not the same old lines about it's stupid to trade your best starting pitcher without even thinking about how unlikely he is to pitch 200 innings this year. People say let the Sox ride him hard and see what happens. I ask why would the Sox want to ride him hard since they know he has barely pitched the last 2 seasons and the best way to win a World Series is for him to somehow last til then ? If the Sox think they can do that and keep him healthy there's no reason to trade him. Maybe the Sox start using him as an opener and use him also in relief like they are using Kopech or Kopech can replace him, at some point and Rodon moves to the pen .There's any number of ways it can be handled to make them both last . However they COULD ( not should) decide that if another team also thinks they can keep him healthy they too might take the same chance as the Sox are taking and be willing to give up a useful piece for him . I used the Dbacks as an example. They have Zac Gallen a young pitcher with a partially torn UCL who just came back after 1.5 months off and not a FA until 2026. It's possible he can pitch the rest of the year with that partially torn UCL. It's also possible he can't and will need Tommy John surgery . AZ. could decide to trade him now knowing he is damaged goods or wait until the off season in which he may have Tommy John surgery and have to wait 1.5 years for him to pitch again or trade him then or just keep him or see if after surgery he can come back and pitch well and re-establish his value. Now if the Sox want to take on the Gallen injury risk and also want Escobar maybe the Sox could make a better offer for the 2 of them . I don't know what that kind of offer would look like but I proposed Rodon, high end guy like Crochet maybe another couple prospects one of which would also have to be good like Burger or a younger guy like Ramos or Rodriguez. No idea if that is too much or too little. It probably should involve a 3rd team with that 3rd team getting Rodon probably a contender, which might not be good . That contender also gives up a prospect to Az. but at least you get some value for the good fortune you had from signing Rodon instead of losing him to free agency for nothing. Very small chance that AZ. would trade Gallen without insisting on Kopech or they just say no to the very idea of trading Gallen or that you find a contender willing to take on Rodon 's high side injury risk. Sox probably don't want to give up good prospects for an injury risk like Gallen either. All very improbable but not impossible. But at least the Sox get a pitcher to replace Rodon for this season and Lynn for the coming seasons if Gallen can stay healthy. Even if he ends up having TJ surgery at some point you could still have him for the last 2 years of his contract. I just thought it was fun to propose something outside the box that would involve a lot of pieces and seems impossible and defies conventional thinking. I know all the reasons not to do it. Was hoping for a little more than that . Instead people see trade Rodon and auto think I'm giving up on this season or act like Rodon is going to continue pitching the same way he has all year right up until the World Series.
  19. I think the admin could've hidden that post if he realized it was there. It probably should be. I would have if I could've but I can only edit the title and opening post as the thread starter.
  20. Maybe it won't be too bad. Might be funny if Billy bats RH against Maeda . Interested in seeing that just to see if he does anything besides K.
  21. You guys think Hamilton is going to play OF ? Remember it was said he would only hit RH when he came back and the Twins starter is RH. If Hamilton is terrible against RHP hitting LH you think he's going to play against them hitting RH ? I mean he could because can it actually be much worse than him hitting lefty ? But I'm looking at Vaughn ,Goodwin and Sheets from L to R.
  22. He's been pretty decent this year hitting RH. But Twins are starting 3 RHP and it was said when Billy Comes back he would only hit Right-handed Hitting RH against RHP which will be a new thing for Billy . He might not be in the starting lineup. Might be Vaughn, Goodwin and Sheets L to R.
  23. I wonder if he plays against RHP will he only bat RH since it was said he will only bat RH when he returns. Hitting RH is his strong side. Has he given up switch hitting or is it only due to injury and temporary?
