  1. I've already talked about a couple moves like that but I think he just wants to cover his bases since Jerry has supposedly given a green light to making the moves necessary and he's aware of how aggressive the Sox have been and the something big rumor out there that Blackout Friday started . They do need to replace Lynn and Rodon for next year. They could work on that now with a young controllable pitcher. There could be a blockbuster 3 way trade. They could trade any core piece that anyone would be shocked we traded. Trading Abreu would shock everyone. Beyond our wildest dreams would mean something that would also be crazy like trading our injury prone guys like Eloy, Madrigal, and Robert and getting a haul back .Basically what we seem to want around here is not remove anyone from the team except Goodwin, Eaton,Lamb, Mercedes, Marshall ,Foster, Luis Gonzales, Rutherford, , Ruiz and guys whose names we have to look up for everyone we need to fill 2nd base, RF ,bullpen and another starting pitcher in case one falls out from no sticky stuff , IP limits or injury. Everyone is afraid of trading away the next Tatis or Semien. One guy here is afraid of trading Adolfo. No matter what happens you know somebody isn't going to like it very much.
  2. Samardzija another symbol of front office ineptness and a lot people actually wanted to extend him .
  3. James Shields was hated the minute he got here. He sucked and continued to suck and has become the ultimate symbol of Tatis not being on the Sox and of front office ineptitude.
  4. Floyd took a lot of whippings. The "Deer in the headlights" look I must've heard 1000 times. Jose Quintana actually got whipped often too for his "smoke and mirrors" act and for nibbling ,but he became good enough to net the Sox Eloy and Cease !
  5. I love when you educate !
  6. Better than being known as the guy who hates Vaughn when I actually don't . I'm still getting punked by someone who takes great pleasure in giving me laughing emojis on stuff I say. I'm pretty sure I know who it is but just watch I'll get like 2 laughing emoji's just for bringing it up again. But I'm fine with them . More points !
  7. No if it was up to me he would play at least half the time against RHP and even more now that he's hot . I never once said in all my posts about Vaughn that he should be a weak side platoon. Look it up if you'd like. I have said his stats are terrible against RHP . I have said they are even more terrible on the road against RHP. Most of what I have said is don't send him down because we need him against LHP as opposed to others who said either play him every day against all pitchers or send him down. I have always wanted a happy medium without sending him down. I think I said once way back at the beginning of the season that he would be sent down once guys got healthy but the OF really never did get healthy. I have said you over rate him as a fielder. The one column you used in Total Zone has fluctuated from the 12 it was when you used it, back down to 8 and now 98 based on him throwing out Cruz. That's quite a fluctuation in a small sample size based on a couple of weeks since you used that stat. Would you now like to use that 98 to proclaim Vaughn as the best LF of all time ? Goodwin hasn't looked good I can admit that. But he did catch a ball that Vaughn might not have, going to his left and falling to the ground and also replaced Vaughn just as LF was becoming difficult to play because of the sun. Goodwin got an error on the throw home but it wasn't a terrible throw by any means. Kiriloff stopped at 3rd. The ball went over Vaughns head as a cut off man and 1 hopped the plate and Rodon took a swipe at it. Why Rodon was there I have no clue but he could have blocked Grandals vision. It was a throw that was missed by 3 guys all lined up to catch it . Usually a 1 hop throw not that far offline is caught by some one. But then again SSS so I would expect you to use it to proclaim Goodwin as not a capable MLB OF. I think he's just as good as Vaughn out there . But just like with many of our bench guys I am more than happy with the offense from them in their small samples and will continue to say defensive stats should not be used by amateurs. Sure Goodwin might be gone when Engel , Eaton, Eloy, Lamb and Robert all return but he has created value for himself as a hitter against RHP. For now that has made him a very useful piece when the Sox needed it most by hitting very good against RHP, being a plus on the bases, and being able to play all 3 OF positions. I don't think he's any worse out there then Lamb or Sheets and all 3 of them have had time in the OF so why not Goodwin ?
  8. Welcome to the Chicago White Sox Jake Burger !!
  9. Probably have to ask @chw42. He's one of those guys who throws 6 pitches and gets a lot of chases, Mainly sinker, slider, changeup ,cutter. Would cost a bunch just because Gallo is hot and Gibson is having a career year. I think they are more likely to move Gibson because they may not want to risk him falling off next year. Getting both + Kennedy at TX. asking price is probably more then the Sox would be willing to pay. But for one stop shopping that helps this year and next year those 3 would be very good.
  10. I am the greatest GT starter of All-Time ! Suck it Twinkies !
  11. I broke my hand once playing 3rd and slapping a high throw tag on a runner. I had to bat the next inning. Basically hit 1 handed n got a hit on a dribbler down the line .
  12. Moncada always getting dinged is a very good reason why I wanted Escobar more than an OFer. And today isn't the 1st time I've said that.
  13. You are somewhat perplexed because projection systems do not rate the young highly until they have some proof that they are good. You constantly over rate him as a defender in LF in a small sample size. He will not get any faster and the longer he plays there the more he will become exposed when he isn't throwing out a snail like Cruz who made a stupid decision to test him and was gunned down by a mile. Until you have a substantial enough amount of chances in LF and he can prove he can hit 75% (RHP) of the pitchers in baseball at a better than .700 OPS the projections will not improve. I tried telling you this earlier and now you are perplexed and think he was dinged for 1st base because he should 've got a bump for his defense in LF ?
  14. I give you a good chance of being right. The Sox don't often think big especially when they are still PT Barnuming us the future. They could think a little bigger since they have quite a few pitchers on pitching limits and will lose Rodon and Lynn to free agency next year. They could go after Gallo and Kyle Gibson with the Rangers. Both have contracts that include 2022 and the Sox will need another starting pitcher for 2022 and a LH starting RFer. Then they could include Ian Kennedy for the bullpen who is a FA after the year. Sox can't keep giving up prospects for rentals . A least looking to the future for 1 more year would be good. Texas supposedly asked a lot for Lynn last year. They could do the same for Gallo and Gibson and hold onto them. But it is something the Sox should be giving serious thought. I also like the idea of taking Gibson off the market for any team to grab. 3 players would mean TX would ask for a bundle like Kopech and more so it would be tough to pull off but 2 yrs apiece from Gallo and Gibson might be worth it.
  15. No one want's to hear it but the Sox will eventually trade someone from the core, guys on the roster now or prospects nearest to MLB like Sheets, and Burger . When you look at all the 1st base DH types you have Abreu, Vaughn, Eloy, Mercedes, Sheets and possibly Burger it's inevitable.
  16. Decent chance of seeing Fry and Kopech today.
  17. Just make it a blockbuster and get Gibson and Kennedy too.
  18. I thought it was the future and this year could be sacrificed to save all our wonderful prospects in our top ranked farm system so the Sox can continue on a decade long run of dominance with Cease, Kopech, Giolito and Keuchel (aged 34-35) for 2 more yrs while our as yet MIA pitcher Vera and studs Kelley, Thompson, Dahlquist all become quality MLB starters in a span of 3 years. Trading for 1 year of Lynn was just for fun . After all look at what a short period of time it has taken Cease , Kopech , Lopez, Fulmer and Dunning to become the horses in the rotation they are today.
  19. I like this for the term bum-slays. That's exactly what he and the Sox did while at home. On the road they haven't been so good at bum-slaying.
  20. The White Sox slaughter of the Twins last night put them a whooping 13 1/2 games up on the Twins in the Central Division. It also puts the Sox at 7-1 on the season vs. the Twins. The Sox have got incredible contributions all year from unexpected sources that have been forced into action by injuries. This continued last night as Gavin Sheets, Brian Goodwin and Andrew Vaughn all homered in the 13-3 rout. Vaughn also singled and drove in 3 runs. Sheets HR was the 1st of his career in only his 2nd game. Yasmani Grandal continued his torrid June by hitting 2 HR's and driving in 5 runs. He now has 14 HR's on the season to lead the Sox. Jose Abreu also homered to give the Sox a season high of 6 in a game after only homering 5 times in the last 10 games. As far as a response to the Josh Donaldson /Lucas Giolito controversy goes, the Sox let their bats do the talking. The crowd was thrilled to see Cease strike out Donaldson twice after he initially homered in the 1st inning amid a chorus of boos. The Sox have won 3 in a row and look to thrust a dagger into the Twins today in the final game of the series. Today's daytime action will feature RH Jose Berrios 7 - 2 3.42 ERA vs. LH Carlos Rodon 6-3 2.06 ERA LET'S GO !
  21. Anyone starting to get the idea yet that home field advantage would be a big deal for the Sox in the playoffs ?
  22. White Sox Sheets all over Twins in Grandal fashion. Goodwin.
  23. I don't expect HR's from Madrigal but now that he's out there is an opportunity to get HR's from that position.
  24. Every day someone doesn't like someone in or out of the lineup. You're always dealing with short sample sizes when it come to all these guys. You can play who is hot, you can play matchups , you can play better defenders , you can play guys in slumps you want to break out of them. There are no perfect players . Anyone in the lineup can be the hero or the goat on any given day. Hopefully enough of them do enough good things to get a W.
