Nailed it. Tweet it everywhere . Maybe leave out the part about violence from TA though.

I agree with this a lot but I can always in my mind come up with something against the general consensus that managers don't win or lose a lot of games for you. Every decision has a consequence that no one can see it's true effects. Maybe it's a ripple that fades into still waters or maybe that ripple becomes a tidal wave. Can a show of confidence or lack thereof in a young player turn a career around that turns a team around ? Generally that answer is no but you just never know. Probably watched It's a Wonderful Life one too many times growing up .

Is there a press conference scheduled for Thursday or is all of this based on the rumors. I'd like to think you are right and I'd prefer neither but I'm not running the ship and I learned a long time ago to say I disagree and then wait to see how it all plays out. There's a lot of reasons not to like either one and a quick announcement just screams lack of vision moving forward and that usually is not something to look forward to but I'll leave the door open that in a year or 2 I could be wrong.

Just saying you can't make a blanket statement like the more pitchers you use the better chance one will screw it up. It's baseball. Sometimes your offense will cover for pitchers mistakes and sometime pitchers will cover for the offense. Sometimes all it takes is 1 bad pitch or even one out on a bad pitch or a fluke hit, broken bat, dying quail on a great pitch to win a game.

The Dodgers used 7 pitchers you know and it didn't cost them

Just reported that Justin Turner was taken out of the game tonight for a positive Covid test.

You put it on non pay TV and viewership would be higher. Just because people don't want to pay for it doesn't mean there isn't interest in it. It's supposed to be America's game let America watch it for free. You get bombarded during a game with commercials telling you what you should buy. I have to buy a TV to watch anything .I have to pay a monthly subscription to watch cable or premium TV. American's are poor and in debt because they are immersed in this "buy" culture. They cant cook, they won't read, they can't grow their own food, they can't start a fire without matches because no one teaches how to just survive . Very few have actual skills. If you want something you buy it, steal it or take it violently. America's enemies just have to figure out how to turn our electricity off and we will all, freeze, starve or kill each other. Ha ! Oops old man yells at cloud . Never mind we're all good . I'm gonna sit in my recliner have a beer and watch the old boob tube and get fat and stupid.

Trevor Bauer Thread (Mazara Free Zone)

I don't think it says anything except perhaps the people in charge were trying to get guys to play to their norms because then your lineup is much better for the playoffs. Unfortunately it went on too long. They started the season with 3 catchers but abandoned it thus cutting down on time McCann, Grandal, Collins or even Mercedes could DH. The Sox had 2 years to give Yermin a chance and nothing. They did the same shit with EE way too long. When you are 37 and playing a short season excuses for slow starts don't apply and they certainly shouldn't have applied halfway into the season. The Sox had hitters on the bench or not even on the team way too much and a great fielding, fast , grindy , hustling RF in Engel who was also hitting pretty well. McCann stepped up and proved he wasn't a fluke , Engel stepped up and neither was rewarded with more playing time. You have to sit guys who aren't producing or just get rid of them. RR and Hahn made some very bad decisions for the last 2 years regarding playing time for guys leaving or non performance. -
Shifting is just the playing smart defense. It has always been that way. With power hitters OF ers move back with singles hitters they moved in . You don't think the Of ers shifted on Babe Ruth to the right ? Basically shifting less is just dumb baseball. You have reams of data telling you where hitters hit the ball. Of course you are going to shift. It would be like telling a pitcher he cannot pitch away from a pull hitter. You play the game according to the strengths and weaknesses of your opponent . It's called strategy. That is inherent in any sport . Deal with it .

White Sox fan taunts Astros during ALCS

On the other hand you are coming off as some kind of psychoanalytical debate team coach infatuated with your own intellect. Maybe you 2 should just stop but who will be the adult and not insist on the last word. -

Well Ken yes bunting certainly is a lost skill. When you have the 3rd baseman playing SS , they basically are telling the hitter there is a free hit available if you can bunt. All you have to do is bunt hard enough to get it past the pitcher and keep it fair. You would think with lefthanders having a built in advantage by being closer to 1st base should all be taught this moreso than righthanded hitters. It apparently is harder to do and there just arent a lot of lefty hitters who would rather try to execute a perfect bunt than just swing away thinking the odds are about the same of getting a hit and surely you cant hit a HR by bunting. The other reason to do this every so often is, if done properly a few times maybe they dont shift on you as much. Im not sure how true that is. Does anyone recall any lefty who changed the shift against him by bunting for a couple of hits ? I think a hitter would have to show he can do it pretty regularly in order to get teams to stop shifting so dramatically on LH pull hitters. -
Its sunny southern california , you used to live here. Would seem very odd here if atmospheric conditions and weather were just bad on Sundays. After hearing from you I am now convinced more than ever that it's the NFL's doing.
-
Well I don't have a fancy antenna but since I can get those channels on every day but Sunday the strength of my antenna shouldn't matter right ? Does the number of people watching have any effect ? Shouldn't the signal strength be the same regardless of how many are watching ? I can watch CBS and Fox all week but Sunday.
-
I am quite bummed since I cut the cord that I can't watch The World Series on Network TV. No link here to watch it online either. I also find it very odd that I can watch the channels that football is played on but I mysteriously don't get reception of those channels when Sunday rolls around. I thought free TV was supposed to be free . I can't help but think somehow the NFL is making it harder to get the games on Network TV. Isn't that supposed to not happen ?

Isn't that just O'Dowds way of saying the new fangled ways that require math and computer analysts is a lot of knowledge but you still need older baseball lifer types who have years of experience insights and wisdom in areas of the game that require teaching , mental approach, lifestyle advice etc etc. -
White Sox fan taunts Astros during ALCS

Yea I mean if we applied "it's just a game" why get upset or show emotion about any of this ? Why have a message board. Why the outcry about Rickey ? Everyone just shut up . It's just a game. -

Or is it the Sox who will look like ass ? -
Yea definitely RR over TLR by a wide margin for me. RR did exactly what the Sox wanted him to do. He managed when the SOx sucked and got to manage them a year when they were good. I think the hate for him snowballed where it got to the point that he was blamed for the sinking of the Titanic. I think the players loved the guy and respected him also. He made a good pie.
-
Impossible to say what I would do . Assuming I'm managing a team , that means I've spent my whole life basically as a player who then became a manager, I would've been around the game for many years and had many influences.Sure I can act like all the morally upstanding church goers that fight hyprocrisy and injustice with their every breathe and written word but I'm not going to do that.

Class act. -
I don't think they can win it. Too many already view TLR as a racist. Not a good look. Too old . Too long retired, Already in the HOF because he completed his career. Do you want to risk offending our players , our fans, the fans of baseball all over the world ? What message would the White Sox as an organization be sending ? Does Hahn really want to speak over and over to defend his choice of TLR or Hinch. They don't need a controversial pick like Hinch or TLR, despite the old saying that "There is no such thing as bad publicity." That era is over.
-
I just don't see that happening. I see the firing as a sign that says maybe a new manger/pitching coach with the young players getting hopefully better and more experienced will get better results with the same payroll and what we spend will be commensurate with money departed through Free agency and those non tendered + arbitration raises.
-
This sentiment is being echoed throughout baseball. It's fairly obvious owners are telling fans and maybe even the players that teams will be biting the bullet. To me it tells the players sign early probably for less than you want or wait it out and see if there's any chance the pandemic doesn't make next season as bad financially as 2020 .The non tender deadline will be a major hint at what the off season holds in store.
-
So entering year 2 of the contention years, still in a pandemic and next year is CBA /possible strike how do you see the Sox payroll ? Do you think it ever gets up to $150M ? Is it higher lower or the same (Approx. $120) for next year ?
