  1. Maybe Clayton Richard will resign with his old pitching coach Donnie Cooper.
  2. He collapsed more than likely because he had pitched a lot more innings than the year before. He was the guy I wanted and I think I was the only one to predict he would get 2 years.
  3. You just gotta believe they will signor trade for some more pitchers that can do a decent job among everyone out there . Relax a little bit. Belief is all about faith so have some faith.
  4. The writer is on drugs. Boston is not in a power position because they are already over the luxury tax threshold.. They are in a very weak position especially by already adding an extra $9M to their roster with Peraza and Perez.
  5. You think Ryu is a 4/5 ? The guy came in 2nd in the Cy Young in the NL. I understand the injury concerns but he's at least a 2 when healthy. A 2 on the Sox for sure. Keuchel would be probably also a 2 on the Sox. Who would be ahead of him besides Giolito ?
  6. We have no idea how long Boars drags things out looking for the right deals. Have to act now on Miley , Wood, McHugh to have some strength going into negotiation with Boras or even with other teams like Boston on Price. If you wait and sign no one that's when you look desperate especially at the rate some of these guys are being snatched up.
  7. Just go after everyone. Keuchel. Ryu, Wood, Miley ,and McHugh and put McHugh and Wood in the BP if need be. No sense being picky about Ryu or Keuchel . Also don't care if you have to go to 2 years on Miley. Need pitching make offers that get some.
  8. We all know JD Martinez had difficulties too . He didn't break out till he was 26. He started out with the idea that he couldn't believe other guys were so much better than him. He studied his own swing and studied the swings of guys like Trout , Pujols, Miggy (all RH like him) and said my swing doesn't look like those guys swings. Then he proceeded to revamp his swing and tried it out in Venezuelan winter ball and couldn't believe how he started hitting in a way he had never hit before.
  9. I don't think this is the video because guys like Verducci will appear on MLBN all day and often talk about the same subject. This appears to be a short version of what everyone is taking about.
  10. No they are auctioning off Kluber .Clevinger not for sale. Also no because in the same division and they still want to compete even after they lose Kluber .
  11. Me neither. just throwing out some stats so people don't have to look them up . Might be a real good righty reliever add. You know me, add as many guys from the junk heap as the roster will allow as quick as you can and still see if you can add one of the big three 3 still left at a reasonable deal.
  12. McHugh has only started 20 games in the last 3 years combined and did his best work in those years as strictly a reliever in 2018. He hasn't pitched over 75 innings since 2016 .
  13. I speculated on that earlier saying that since he had bet on himself that should mean he doesn't limit his locations on where he signs. He may still prefer So Cal so if the Padres or Angels have interest maybe they would have a better chance. Or if he wants to play with Choo in Tx. Since Boras is his agent he will certainly listen to offers from as many teams as he can and use them to drive up the price and make the places he prefers to play pay for it.
  14. Who did the segment ? Was it Mark DeRosa ? I remember he had said earlier he thought his hands were a little too busy.
  15. And I wouldn't be surprised if his agent didn't do that either since we are already pretty sure the Sox made the highest offer.
  16. It's still 20/20 hindsight and reactionary to not getting him. There's no guaranteed he would've signed with the Sox even then. You are only saying that based on how the pitching market looks now. He was the 1st good pitcher to be signed and they made the best offer. Any way you try to spin it isn't going to make you're argument any stronger when you have the advantage of now knowing how much is being paid for starting pitching and the Sox didn't .
  17. Maybe so but it's unfair to say they should have overpaid more when they already tried over paying. At some point you just have to draw the line. I don't generally like to give the FO too much credit but I think in the Wheeler situation they made a great offer and it was rejected. Saying they should have offered more is just a big ole 20/20 hindsight. If you made any post before he was signed saying the Sox should pay more than what he actually signed for please show me and I will consider you a visionary .
  18. So you want to pay the we suck tax and the we suck a lot tax on top of it ? If they truly offered $7M more they tried paying the we suck tax . At what point do you decide whats too much to pay? I saw one post that said well we didn't get him at $7M more but we would have got him at $12M more. If we had paid $12M more and didn't get him what's next ? Well we should have paid him $20M more ?
  19. Bloom is trying to get his price now. Give it a few weeks or a month to come down. Right now he's just looking for a fish to take the bait. Hopefully no one does until he gets realistic. Boston has been quiet this off season because of the luxury tax. Let them keep sitting on the sidelines or trade Betts if they want to save money. Let's see how that goes over with their fans.
  20. Yep that's just more pie in the sky wishful thinking. Boras is 2 of those guys agents and they will get very close to what they are seeking whatever that number is no matter how long it takes.
  21. AH ok as future GM you have to work on being clear and concise when you face the media
  22. Your 1st sentence is probably where we differ. Not real sure with Boras and perhaps preferences for the NL and California that I can have confidence in their availability . These guys might be the ones Boras takes his time with, taking advantage of the markets desperation . That might be why we are seeing many of the other guys like Wacha Roark Lindblom Perez being snatched up quickly. It might be time to act on a Miley now.
  23. We also have to remember that it's not 2018 in terms of what pitching is costing. So many teams are prioritizing it now. If Hamels at his age can get 1/18 2 years for Miley at $20M seems low to me.Remember we are talking about acquiring him not paying what's fair or realistic in your mind.
  24. It might be the price you have to pay but relatively small amount for a guy who can hopefully pitch 165 inning and give you around a 4 ERA.
  25. So basically what I said 2 yrs and $30M. Let's say we get one of R/K/B how do you approach 5th starter then ? I really like what the Mets did with Wacha low base salary filled with incentives based on performance and durability . That could also appeal to Miley though he's probably near the top of the class of leftovers and probably looking for more guaranteed money.
