The meltdown from Sox fans that is about to happen over Joe Musgrove is going to be epic ?

Especially from about 80 pct of them that have never seen him pitch

Figures

I like him but I'm afraid of what we would've given up.

I don't think he's such an upgrade over Q, for example, to give up pieces when you could have another SP for just $.

Much rather he goes to Padres than to the Twins

I’ve been one of the biggest proponents of trading for Musgrove, but I’m not upset by this. Go sign Quintana now.

one of the reasons I’m grateful for Sox shift to working budgets to get top prep guys - head was given 3 mill in third round in 2019.

As we saw in Padres other trades, getting young, athletic, toolset guys in system hold value for a long time and can be converted well in trades.

Man. That’s nuts.

The Padres ain’t fucking around.  Pretty nuts they have added Snell, Darvish, & Musgrove and still have a half dozen top 100 prospects.

Is Hudson Head the equivalent of Jared Kelley, as far as rankings/prospect status?

You mean over-slot college hitters in the second aren’t the way to go?

The Padres are doing big things. Good for them for attacking it the way they have.

Waiting for the “who cares about the Padres” posts when they or the Dodgers are the teams the Sox would have to face in the World Series...

Also doesn’t help that all the outfield prospects didn’t pan out from the Rutherford, Gonzalez, Adolfo group

And one could say it’s better he’s not on Twins or Jays, as this makes the path easier for the Sox

Respect to preller. Part of this you can see is after last year they weren’t going to have an important year of their window just handing spots to young pitchers. Braves have had same struggle but then they all put it together in September/oct.

Im of them mind that it’s ok to let those dudes force their way in to a spot when they’ve shown they can command and get AAA hitters out and aren’t just throwing their top stuff all over the place and relying on inferior hitters to get themselves out.

And the fact we traded none of them other than Walker and even then we have nothing to show for it.  Still can’t believe we couldn’t extract an older lottery ticket type prospect for Basabe, although I guess we can add that to the long list of ways the Padres have fucked us...lol.

Padres are not fucking around.

So prospect numbers 7 & 17 (so far) from the Padres system.
