Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
Brad Hand for Cleveland is maybe as well some might say better . He has more saves and a higher WAR and lower ERAbut he also has 2 losses and while his WHIP is great Colome's is even greater. Hand also strikes out more guys than Colome which is what teams trying to get out of tough situations look for.

The path back to .500 in our sights?
I'm actually not otherwise I wouldn't have made the post. Maybe it's not in this thread. maybe it is but I have seen posts about bringing up Cease,Robert,Madrigal getting Keuchel and Kimbrel and going for it this year.

6/1 Games
Actually I think there's a good chance he gets promoted to Charlotte this year and starts with the Soc next year. To many on Soxtalk who thinks he should be called up this year, mine is the more conservative approach. Yours is ultra conservative if he continued on the path he is right now. Beckham has nothing to do with Robert.

If he keeps this up how long will he stay in Birmingham ? I'll just guess til slightly after the the Baron's All-Star break.

The path back to .500 in our sights?
Yes next year but not a chance in hell this year. When I responded it wasn't meant for you per se just all the pie in the sky hopes I was reading for contention this year. So I am sorry if you thought I was calling you a Kool-Aid by the gallon drinker. Your earlier post was actually more along my line of thinking about Keuchel although I thought 3 years would be 1 two many.

The path back to .500 in our sights?
Only Covey Banuelos ? ( We actually won the those games. Nova pitched well and lost that one. }Then Gio and Lopez again. Basically 4 of our 5 starters can't be counted on for much better than a 5-6 ERA . The fact that we got 3 decent starts in a row from Covey Banuelos and Nova has those residing on Cloud 9 in a celebratory tizzy. Seems as if there's only the pessimists and the eternal optimists around here. I am the cautious optimist but you have to be blind not to see the faults in the rotation. Sure I love the idea of Keuchel on a 2 year contract to support the guys coming back from surgery like Kopech , Rodon and Dunning because they are young and also there's a very real chance they don't pitch effectively or have setback like Burdi has had. Who knows if Hansen ever can become an effective starter again ? He can't even consistently throw strikes so far in relief. 1 one year deal for Keuchel would be ridiculous while also counting on Cease to be effective and have them both be effective enough to get the 2nd wild card. I'm all for going for it next year but that would mean signing Keuchel for more than a year and also getting a very good starter via free agency. Might be Cole, Bumgarner or even Quintana. I can be optimistic about that even though every bone in my body says no way it happens because even if it does happen we still have young pitchers coming back from injuries and Cease while not injured hasn't proven anything. I can only drink so much Kool-aid not the gallons some of you seem to be swallowing.

Rumor: Cease will be called up "very soon"
Ok cool I guess you won't be too disappointed when once again he doesn't surprise you and there's no Keuchel or Kimbrel. Carry on from Cloud 9.

Rumor: Cease will be called up "very soon"
.How far back does Fisk go when they got him 1981 . So you can name 3 guys in 38 years. Hooray for Jerry.

And That's a White Sox Winner
Covey's 1sr win as a starter this year and 1st one since July 21 , 2018. 5th win in a row. Tied Cleveland for 2nd place in the division. 1 game below .500 May record of 16-15 for 1st winning month since last August. 1 game back of the 2nd wild card. 4 players with 2 hits. Moncada , Alsonso Tilson 2 RBI double and Sanchez RBI single. Abreu sac fly RBI now leading the AL in RBI with 50. Seby Zavala with 1st career hit then sent back to Charlotte. Osich and Minaya 3 scoreless innings of relief. Tim Anderson 14th stolen base. Nova on the bump Saturday to try to extend streak and get the Sox to .500.

Rumor: Cease will be called up "very soon"
As much as I'd like to believe this the only ones I think happen is the Cease promo and Vaughn selection. If Robert is promoted it'll be to AAA . Sox are not going to sign K n' K.

How soon is now ? Soon could mean after the All Star break.

Dallas Keuchel signs one year deal with Braves
Unfortunately I haven't heard the Sox linked to him at all. I think he'd be a fool to pass up a multi year deal no matter who it's from. Boras is the agent so I don't have a clue what's going to happen with him. But supposedly many teams interested.

2019 MLB draft thread
Ethan Vecrumba. Makes you wonder what round someone takes him and if he would sign . Guessing he might go around round 10 . Sure worth finding out his thoughts. Gotta wonder how committed he really is to Indiana.

Quetzalcoatl is this what everyone used to call him an Aztec god ?

And That's a Double White Sox Winner
Almost 2 whole months all of July and most of August. 9 starts. See above.

And That's a Double White Sox Winner
He did actually. From an article dated August 27, 2018 : Rodon is 5-0 with a 1.84 ERA in his past nine starts. The 25-year-old left-hander hasn’t lost since June 30. Nine straight qaslity starts that broke a Sox record that was around since 1908. From July 20 2017 to August 21 he had 5 straight starts where he didn't give up more than 2 runs, 36 IP 9 earned runs. 37 K and 9 walks, 2.25 ERA In 2016 from August 6 to Sept. 9, 7 starts, 43.2IP ,9 earned runs , 1.85 ERA, 40 K's 10 walks. So that's 3 straight years with a real good hot streak. All for July and August basically 2 starts in Sept of 2016. Funny thing is I saw article that said his change up was better and also some that said he started using his sinker more when Narvaez would catch him instead of Navarro. The one about his 2017 hot streak said he used the sinker a lot more https://www.southsidesox.com/2017/8/24/16186178/carlos-rodons-hot-streak-coincides-with-reintroduction-of-sinker Another article said article said the sinker Rodons worst pitch of 2018 so he decided to go fastball slider heavy cutting out the sinker almost completely and cutting way back on the change up.

And That's a Double White Sox Winner
Let's just remember Rodon has had several late summer periods just like the one Giolito is having. The key is to sustain it on a consistent basis.

Dallas Keuchel signs one year deal with Braves
So basically he wants to compound his mistake .I don't see how not pitching for almost half a season will help his cause. If he's bad that hurts him for 2020 . He needs to take the best multi year offer he can get right now.
