I look at it like this, If the Sox plan to compete next year and spend money on some free agents then that starts our competitive window in 2020. So lets say a 5 year open window to win a World Series . So if you bring up Robert and Madrigal now they mainly have to be good in that window so the service time after that shouldn't matter because the guys we brought up 1st like Giolito Lopez Moncada will be approaching FA if they are still here. Let them all start playing together now and hopefully Vaughn can jump a couple levels next year and join them in 2021 or end of 2020. Fans may flock to see those guys all together now.

Catcher is a grueling position. He was very consistently good the 1st half. That's baseball. Players get tired they have peaks and valleys.. He's probably got 5x more WAR than anyone expected from him this year.

I'd say you are right TX approached the Sox. They know the Sox always give away itnl. pool money in minor deals and like cash.

This is why the Sox wont get another minor league team . They always give away intl. slot money rather than use it to acquire players.

I edited my post to say Frazier+ before you posted But I was just using Frazier+ as an example . He's (Bauer) just a 1 year player anyway maybe get some ML ready talent back with control and another controllable piece. After all the Indians got 5 pieces for him.

Would you take a guy like Clint Frazier+ if you were the Reds ? Already ML ready and Trammel didnt do so great in AA. Frazier has no spot on the Yankees. Instant offense for the Reds but bad glove but Trammel could be a bust.

But if Reds can flip Bauer today for someone they like better than Trammel like perhaps Clint Frazier then its another story

That's why they could flip Bauer today.Maybe get more than Trammel back for Bauer especially if they soured on him a bit. Yankees Twins Astros Brewers still all want starting pitching.

Isn't it amazing that prospects/people can make adjustments and become better versions of themselves despite grand pronouncements from others about who they are and what they will become. No way you could've seen that coming, After all everyone is who you thought they are.
