5/23 Games
My goodness. I know the AA OF has been bad and we all have a tendency to live in the moment but we all sure expect a lot of linear growth while we hear a lot of growth isn't linear stuff all the time. “Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. " Denis Waitley "Failure isn't fatal, but failure to change might be" - John Wooden “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” - Robert F. Kennedy

That's a big ol' CGSO winner!
Nope a quick google search turned up this "My older brother was kind of a mentor to me, and he was a die-hard White Sox fan growing up and wouldn't let me be anything else," said Tilson, https://www.news-leader.com/story/sports/baseball/2014/07/23/springfield-hopes-tilson-sparks-sputtering-offense/13031129/

That's a big ol' CGSO winner!
The last 2 games were sweet as honeysuckle. We haven't seen a game pitched like that since Sale left. Moncada with a big double. Eloy with his 3rd homer in 2 nights.McCann got a hit and SB. Yolmer a silent 3 for4 .Tilson 1 for 3 with a walk though one AB was wasted by trying to advance runners with a bunt . Last 4 starts Gio 0.64 ERA . Yonder (who else) the only starter without a hit.

Even when Gio was bad last year. He always had a knack for using the high fastball as a K pitch. It's one of the reasons why I always despised those saying he's a headcase. It was always apparent he had a good idea how to pitch , he just couldn't throw it where he wanted due to being unable to control his long limbs with any consistency.

That's why I wanted him in the off season. He's a professional hitter when he isn't hurt and swings and misses are rare for him. You may not be watching a Mike Trout but you are watching a true talent with the bat.

2019 MLB draft thread
LOL You're welcome. I just can;t help but look at a guy like Bellinger. Very athletic, can play just about anywhere I'm sure, so good with the glove. He learned some hard lessons in the playoffs made adjustments and now he gets to hit off a bunch of right handers after the adjustments and is out og his mid good now. Yelich is another guy that not many people thought could get as good as he is. I also think that as a lefty facing righties if you have good plate discipline it's better and easier to keep that plate discipline facing guys you can see the ball better against.

Does that HR mean he is going to hit another one before the game is over ?

Good job. I hate Bregman because he represents all that the Sox can't accomplish along with Correa and Springer. I know they had higher draft picks than the Sox have had but they picked some good ones. (and developed them too.)

ALONSO 2019 DUNN 2011 OFFICIAL COMPARISON THREAD OF DOOM
He better start hitting some HR's then in a hurry because he's not going to get those AB's needed to vest that option.

2019 MLB draft thread
I don't follow the draft as much as many of you do so I will never gripe about the selection . From reading much of the thread. I'm not sold on Vaughn probably just because he's a 1st baseman. Like many we hope Rutschman falls but that's highly unlikely. I know the whole BPA available argument but who really knows who that is.? Sure you can combine a lot of different things to say who is the LIKELY BPA but it's still educated guesswork. I'd have no problem with Abrams or Witt or even Bleday, Greene or Bishop. Kind like the idea of getting some more left handers in the system. Some of the best teams have a lot of good hitting lefties and the Sox have very few. I know I know BPA never for need. I just think lefties offer more upside just by being left handed.

This is on MLB network tonight. If you have a Roku TV and have cut the cord on pay TV you can still get MLB network on Roku on whats called Gade TV.It's also good because you can get hockey on CBC on it also. It's basically a foreign station broadcaster, How and why MLB network is on it I don't care . I'm just glad I found it.

Same thing I was thinking. If Cole can be lit up by the Sox sometimes you just have to give a pass to a pitcher.

And That's a White Sox Triple Play and Granny Winner !!
Thought for sure there would be a winners thread but alas here I am creating it very late after such a fun and historic game. First of all the Sox beat the Astros 9-4. How they did it is the fun and history. Most importantly, Rookie Eloy Jimenez hit 2 solo jacks and Yoan Moncada went 2/5 with an RBI. He also stole a base. These are the main 2 guys you want doing good things. Moncada also started the... Triple play . Moncada was positioned perfectly to field a Jake Marisnick shot down the third base line. Moncada knew he was a pull hitter so got closer to the base before the pitch. He got rid of the ball quickly to Yolmer Sanchez who made a nice play on the low throw and made a nice turn to nip Marisnick at 1st base. This was in the 3rd inning after the Sox had turned a double play in each of the 1st 2 innings. The Sox not only turned the 5 4 3 triple play but also 4 double plays. Probably most surprising of all with 2 outs and the bases loaded Charlie Tilson hit his 1st ML HR. He has been a revelation as a steadying influence in both the lineup and defensively since his recall from AAA Charlotte 16 games ago. Tilson is mostly known to be a speedy singles hitter so the grand slam came as quite the shock to everyone. The triple play was the White Sox first since July 8, 2016, when they turned one during an 11-8 loss to the Braves in Chicago. They also turned one against the Astros that year, on May 18. The White Sox are now only the fourth team in the last 40 years to have hit a grand slam and turned a triple play in the same game. The last to do it was the Tigers in 2017. The common thread between The White Sox and the 2017 Tigers ? James McCann., who has also been a revelation both behind the dish and in the batters box. I haven't seen anything about it ,but I'd venture a guess that a triple play, a grand slam by a guy for his 1st ML HR, 4 double plays and 2 HR's by a rookie more than likely make the Sox the first team to accomplish this in the history of baseball. If anyone has seen anything in the twitterverse about it. please post it.
