  1. Don't you mean against righties since he is a LH hitter ? Yes he hit's righties well and would get the majority of the playing time. He could hit them even better or he could regress to 2017 form especially switching leagues. Dodgers are rightfully selling high on him and no longer need him and we shouldn't view him as more than that.
  2. This was a needed diversion from that mess. Now we just wait .
  3. That's a lot of IF's . If we get Manny. If we get Joc ,if we get a decent starting pitcher (from where I have no idea), If we have a FEW (not just one) breakout. I love the optimism I really truly do but Manny is the big enchilada and he must be attained before any of that is considered .
  4. It actually was an outstanding draft pick. Everyone expected him to honor his commitment to Mississippi St. and the Sox paid him overslot and got him in the 33rd. round. Perfect Game ranked him 52nd in his senior year of all the preps in the country. You just don't give that up ever for a guy the Dodgers have to get rid of.
  5. So be it then. Let the Braves acquire him. There's no great need for him on the Sox in those 2 years. Braves are a contender those years. We are not.
  6. The guy can play against RH pitching and won't be a CF long. He is declining in value whether or not you agree.
  7. He's worth more to the Braves than us. Once Manny signs then maybe see what we could do . Not before then.
  8. That's why I've been saying he is a corner OF soon. He's 6'1 " 220 lbs. Big kid and is not going to be a CF for much longer.
  9. That's why I don't see it happening with us if Hill is involves, . Perderson alone maybe but the team won't contend with him unless many other positive things happen so he's not really needed for anything more than someone like Bummer and Leury/Rondon. That's top price I'd pay. Getting rid of Pederson is a bigger priority to the Dodgers than us getting him.
  10. I understand your point with Pederson as a hitter but honestly his stats aren't just bad against lefties they are putrid. He would have to improve a lot for them just to be bad. Adam Dunn but younger and decent in the OF but due to become a corner OF by the time we try to get any trade value for him when his time is up.
  11. No way the starting pitcher is anywhere close to a competitive team in 2019. Terrible plan and not likely.
  12. I'm looking more toward 2021. Kopech back and maybe Cease and Dunning in the rotation by 2020 and maybe even a whale free agent starting pitcher but Kopech , Cease and Dunning will still be very young (if they don't get injured again) and learning Still need to see major improvement of Giolito and Lopez to think we have a chance in 2020 along with some young OF also stepping up right away. Yes it's possible but realistically I don't see it. Joc isn't needed that badly for a 2020 chance. Also even if the chances of getting both Harper and Machado are looking very slim I'd still like to keep those hopes alive and not allow the Dodgers to have a chance to get him if Hill becomes part of the deal .
  13. Yes it's fantastic if you think Fulmer is going to be nothing. But he still was a 1st round pick and still has potential.Pederson means nothing to the Sox after his 2 years are up. It;s just very difficult to give up on Fulmer for a guy who adds nothing in contention years except for possible trade value before his contract expires while his OF skills diminish as he gets older. How much longer do you think he can play CF ? Pederson was an 11th round pick that the Dodgers got great value from but they know his days of value are closing fast.
  14. But how much value does he have for the Sox and how much value are we giving the Dodgers ? It's not just player value we have to consider , it's situational value. Dodgers are trying to win a World Series in 2019 and beyond, trying to make roster space for Pollock or maybe even Harper. That is worth something. What are the Sox trying to accomplish in 2019 and 2020, the years of Pederson control ? That answer appears to be nothing special. Therefore we are doing them a great service and that value should diminish the value of anything we give up in return. The 2 years we have him will only diminish his value when he becomes a corner OF . Is it possible he starts hitting lefties better .Very doubtful. The Dodgers know all this going forward and that's why he is the most expendable of their OF's.
  15. But he is right here. No prospects should be given up . If Dodgers truly are wanting Pollock and have to get rid of Hill and Pederson to do it any team that deals with them is doing them a favor. Hell they could turn round and then decide they want Harper and I certainly don't want to help them do that either.
  16. Isn't that what I said ? Pederson definitely isn't worthless, but he is a a part time player given his inability to hit lefties and likely a corner OF and free agent by the time our OF prospects are ready. If it's only Pederson who do you think he is worth ? Do you give up on Fulmer ? I know many have.
  17. We need to keep things in perspective on Pederson and or Hill and why nothing but scraps need to be given for them. They would be place holders nothing more . More useful pieces for a season or 2 over what we have that's all.
  18. He could be part of the trade . That's what I suggested any way. He is a funny guy but hey funny don't keep you in the majors.
  19. Jay , Leury, Yolmer, Rondon, Engel . is fine by me as a group of 3rd / 4th OF. The main piece is Pederson as a starter which adds an acceptable bat and glove in CF and a better glove in RF than Palka. With bench spots at a premium definitely need a guy who can play IF and OF and that group should incude Leury, Yolmer and Rondon.
  20. He should be . Dodgers coming away with 1 high upside player and they win the trade. Should be our scraps for giving them room for Pollock or Harper perhaps . Scraps for salary and roster space. Otherwise screw the Dodgers.
  21. Who still has a role ? Palka ? Not here if we have Pederson. Besides I don't care about the Dodgers needs. I want to win the trade. Dodgers want salary relief and OF space. They aren't going to get shit player wise.
  22. Trade Palka in the Pederson deal. Hell there's a long list of guys to trade . Palka. Delmonico, any young reliever , Leury Garcia Palka is Pederson without the fielding ability and without Pederson's experience so you trade years of control for defense and throw in a pitcher to balance it. if Hill is part of the deal don't give them much more for helping them with salary cap. After all they could change mind on Harper then and if Sox have any inclination of getting Harper too we can't help the Dodgers too much. Delmonico,Fulmer might as well dump any redundant excess older OF's we can now. No on Bryce Bush , He might be the Bryce we actually want. Our scraps for old injury plagued pitcher, decent part time OF , and salary cap reduction.
  23. I know that's gated stuff but is it allowed to at least post some of it ?
