Reds have hit 9 grannies this year and a few during their 14 out of 18 streak.
-
Yep somethings up with his ankle.
-
Also maybe some hand problems. Might explain the Roberto Duran impersonation at 2nd base lately ( Hands of Stone for those not getting the reference)
-
He may have tweaked something . Wasn't there an injury delay right before he came to bat ?
-
Might be the same thumb that he just got off the DL for. After all there's a 50/50 chance of it since I'm not sure.
-
Robert expected to miss 4-8 weeks and Jimenez 2 weeks regardless.
-
Shields gets a bit lucky throwing 2 4 seamers around 89 right down the middle to Votto and gets him to line out to right. Time for a run or 2.
-
Schebler apparently likes Shields stuff.

What is substantially better and how do you see it happening ? Is a big part of your thinking a big free agent signing ?

Just a point of interest for those wanting more stats without scouring the internet. Basically go to whitesox.com , find stats in the black banner right near the top of the opening page. Mouse over that then click on " sortable player stats" then click on the person you want to look up , Then scroll down the page to where the hot zone charts (for positions players) are and right under that there's a box that says 'view more charts' and it will take to to that persons Baseball Savant page where you can see Statcast stuff and a wider range of stats. -

A week ago Avi was hitting .233 . OBP .247 SLG .302 and OPS was .550 Now ,270 .280 .452 .732 A brutal 8 game stretch from 4/9 through 4/21 where he went 2 for 32 is what basically got everyone in a tizzy saying the old Avi was back. Today's 4/5 with 2 doubles and a triple coupled with the 3 HRs since he got back from 2 months off has got me hopeful. Now just take some walks and the hitting could very well continue. -
Can we trade some of these posters for posters to be named later ? DFA them ? I won't name names but you know who you are .
-
Nice to see Zargari get a couple of hits including a 2 run HR. Luis Gonzales goes 4/5 now hitting .421. Nice to see we still may have a decent CF if Robert continues to be injury plagued. Both a long way to go however. Dash definitely the most exciting team in the system. Sheets en fuego.

2018-2019 J2 Intl Signing Period - White Sox Preview
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
"Due to the uncertainty of when Robert would become available to teams, the White Sox weren't able to offer deals to players of note during the last period. " I've seen that sentence a few times and wonder what it means. I know its supposed to mean something like since they were trying to get Robert and he would cost a lot that the money wasn't there for others ? I just find it somewhat curious . What other teams were in on Robert ? How did their international draft class look that year. Did all their signings come before or after Robert was signed ? Since the Sox went over the cap anyway what difference would it have made if they signed more guys .Did it really have to be Robert or bust ? Just seems like the company line is being taken as truth when more research into other teams who were in on Robert still probably had signed guys before Robert and maybe after also, Sox could've done the same right ? -
Ha. I had the exact same idea of making a thread mentioning Otani and Davidson but thought it more as a fun thing rather than serious. The hitters had no idea what to expect from Matt . No advance scouting. but according to him he loves pitching.

http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/matt-davidson/n-7wKPTmEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/baseball-stats.htm Matt Davidson's Yucaipa, Ca. pitching ( and all his stats ) Pretty good stats both hitting and pitching. -
I remember an interview Matt did from a week or 2 ago and he said he used to be a decent pitcher. From a Tribune article early March : As a kid, the White Sox third baseman/designated hitter lived life on the mound and to this day Davidson calls pitching “a passion of mine.” Found his pitching stats from his HS days in Yucaipa, Ca. link for anyone who wants to see it less jumbled together http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/matt-davidson/n-7wKPTmEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/baseball-stats.htm Pitching Year Grade Team ERA W L W% APP GS CG SO SV NH PG Varsity Totals 1.06 27 5 .844 18 33 8 4 6 08-09 Senior Varsity 1.60 4 1.000 13 2 1 1 5 07-08 Junior Varsity 0.88 4 2 .667 5 8 06-07 Sophomore Varsity 1.21 9 2 .818 12 1 1 05-06 Freshman Varsity 0.76 10 1 .909 11 6 2 1 Year Grade Team IP H R ER BB K 2B 3B HR BF AB Varsity Totals 205 147 64 31 60 230 19 3 838 758 08-09 Senior Varsity 30.2 19 11 7 9 40 4 1 123 112 07-08 Junior Varsity 40 28 15 5 12 48 3 164 146 06-07 Sophomore Varsity 69.2 54 21 12 21 82 9 1 288 261 05-06 Freshman Varsity 64.2 46 17 7 18 60 3 1 263 239 Year Grade Team OBA OBP WP HBP SF SH/B #P BK PO SB Varsity Totals .194 .271 11 20 185 08-09 Senior Varsity .170 .244 1 2 185 07-08 Junior Varsity .192 .280 1 6 06-07 Sophomore Varsity .207 .281 5 6 05-06 Freshman Varsity .192 .266 4 6

6/28 Games - Stephens/Hansen/Martinez
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to bmags's topic in FutureSox Board
Yea he does but sometimes you just have to watch. I didn't play a ton of baseball no little league or organized ball ever but I was an athlete with a Chris Sale body. Loved hitting and making great catches and hitting the long ball when I'd play "fast pitch" or asphalt ball or softball. Sometimes you just amaze yourself especially when I got older and was playing softball in my late 40's and hitting the ball farther than I ever had because of the composite bats. I miss playing can you tell ? -

I think we need to exercise patience. It's a learning process for the more casuals fans too.A guy like me lives and breathes baseball and I pride myself on my knowledge of the game and take a realistic/optimistic view on most subjects . Game threads make me crazy some times. More fans is a good thing. Just take a teachers point of view rather than an" OMG are you nuts ?" viewpoint. -

Me too and the thing is when I thought it was great Roberts was showing off the wheels I'd get comments like but but he could get injured. Same thing early in the season when I thought the Sox should steal more this year. The Sox have a lot of speed and to not use at every level when you should be learning and perfecting base stealing techniques would be ludicrous. I know Robert has had his share of nagging injuries already but to not use and develop his skills is just almost as damaging to me as an injury. -

It's crazy is what it is. I know interest in the minor league teams is great and all but let's not forget these guys are all works in progress and in their 1st year or 2 in professional ball and will make changes to their games along the way. Collins has already made a series of publicized changes. If they all (pitchers and hitters) just were all great from the get go they'd be breezing through the system. They all have to fail at some point to understand nothing comes easy.
