QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 13, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) I should have added - it is also possible the Sox trade Johnson. Not likely, but not impossible. Also possible that after letting him get acclimated and if he's hitting good a move to OF is a very real possibilty.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 14, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) Not really. Viciedo's hand was wrapped under the bottom of the bat. There is nothing the ball could have glanced off of and gone that direction, other than his hand. I never saw the replays. Just was stating that in normal replays the ball is a blur and pretty hard to follow. Don't think super slomo is used for any replays where things are broken down frame by frame and much clearer. Probably too expensive and takes too long.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 14, 2014 -> 01:31 PM) This has been consistently my biggest gripe with Ventura. He doesn't rest his regulars nearly enough. I mean, Abreu is in his first MLB-length season, he's been out there hobbling around like Kirk Gibson for days, and his plan is to give him 1 game off, some time in the future? Jeez, I'd be fine if Abreu got a day off a week, let him play 130 games this year to get broken in. No need to wear him into an injury. And he wonders why the team had a couple games they seemed "flat". With all the rest Sale is getting . I'm pretty convinced Hahn doesnt think we can win anything this year and is being super cautious with Sale because of it. If that's the case Abreu deserves the same consideration. Maybe Hahn keeps his nose out of the dugout or doesnt tell his manager who to play and how often.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 14, 2014 -> 09:23 AM) And there it is, where was my post before the season started about him never playing a game with the Sox? Don't hate me for saying this because it's based on a foggy memory but I think I recall a much earlier post than that maybe some time during last season that said the organization loved Kepp. Sorry if I'm wrong . Impossible to research. Must be cheaper to run this site with the search always off.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 13, 2014 -> 02:32 PM) A lot of managers believe (and, apparently, players too) that guys get out of whack when their batting order position is changed. Given how little the batting order matters to game outcomes, who cares if you put a bad player higher in the order for a few games while you wait for the normal guy to come back? Parent had just said to the media yesterday that ADA felt very uncomfortable hitting leadoff. ADA seems to express how he doesnt like playing Cf and now doesn't like leading off. He doesn't seem to like sliding very much either considering he planted his face into the ground on an attempted steal of 2nd and planted his spike into the ground and flipped himself over without even a play on him at home plate. For a guy who's career may depend on him being more versatile he certainly is being a whiny pain in the ass ( and his own face).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2014 -> 05:39 AM) Am I reading this wrong, or is this from the other day? Those quotes came from before the Oakland game. They are not the post game comments of the last Diamond back game.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 12, 2014 -> 08:31 PM) Conor has had a couple of chances to do some damage. And hit it hard each time. Line out to 2nd and line out to CF to go along with that single in the 1st. Can't quibble with the contact , only the results. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2014 -> 06:10 PM) Didn't Ventura say it was more about how he'd ask the players to approach things, as opposed to lineup changes? "Something is going to happen. I don't know what yet, but something." When asked if that something dealt with lineup changes, Ventura responded with "maybe." "Just in the way you treat them and everything else," Ventura continued. So pretty vague in actuality. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 12, 2014 -> 05:38 PM) I understand what you are saying.. But if you are playing Garcia in CF anyways than why is De Aza still in there (I know the R/L splits with the pitcher), especially after his play lately and with what Robin was saying yesterday after the game. It just doesn't make sense to me... Robin needed to back up his words and he didn't. He still may back up his words but he still has to make out a lineup card for tonight and until that change. It's not like his list of options tonight is that big. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 12, 2014 -> 05:35 PM) I'm sorry if this offends someone, but seriously suggesting that Jared Mitchell gets called up should be a bannable offense on this board. I'm not offended and I brought it up. I mean if Robin was serious about some kind of instant change and it was only for a week . How could it hurt any more than De Aza tripping all over himself lately? Dangle a carrot in front of the kids , it's not going to hurt , it's one player for a week until Eaton's back if you could comprehend that conversation we had about it. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 12, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) Ok so the guy who hits a home run yesterday (are only source of offense) sits the next day but the guy who makes a complete bonehead error, hasn't been hitting well, and makes stupid running mistakes all the time stays in the line up? That is what needed to happen according to Robin?? That makes a lot of sense I do think you have to remember that it takes a little bit longer than one day to explore solutions and implement change. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 12, 2014 -> 08:25 AM) We only have 1 cfer so ADA has to play. Doubt Garcia would unless it's an emergency. Leury is in CF for todays game. Might be the last time we ever see De Aza in CF. -

My personal scouting report that I hope Sox management is letting pitchers know. The A's will swing on 3-0 counts. Derek Norris took Gio Gonzales deep twice on 3-0 counts yesterday. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 12, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) I said it in my post and I agree with this, but it has nothing to do with their current records and everything to do with the Tigers being a more talented and well-rounded (no pun intended) team. Frankly, I just want the team to keep playing hard. That's all you can ask for. I think they'll ultimately get a little worn out come August, but the team showing some resiliency has got a lot of people much more optimistic about the team's future. Anywhere between 78-84 wins is a successful season as far as I'm concerned. It's still early enough that I don't have to resign myself to them just playing hard. Making the playoffs would mean a lot more things went better than expected. And we all want that. -

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 12, 2014 -> 12:14 PM) Who are you going to trade him to and get appropriate value? You talkin' to me ? You mean De Aza ? I never said trade the guy . He just needs to stop looking like he can't field or run any better than a 50 yr. old. The guy is stumbling around like his legs are shot. If his legs are shot then he has no approximate value unless you want the current value of Ken Griffey, Jr. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:38 AM) I think they have. They lowered prices, even parking on Sundays. They changed the color of the seats. The problem is, no matter what the Sox do at that end, there will always be something else an average White Sox fan will complain about. The only thing that will work is consistently good teams. Unlike the Cubs, Bears and the Bulls after Michael Jordan, they cannot sustain high attendance with mediocre performance. If the Hawks win another Cup or 2, they may be in the same boat, at least for a while. I can't help but think of the sea of red at Hawks games or blue with the Dodgers even orange at Orioles games. The Sox have a mishmash of multiple uniforms in the stands. I'd love to see Sox fans in high attendence games looking like a cohesive unit. Somehow black and white doesn't work as cool as those uni's look now. Best we can hope for is either the black sea or looking like snow.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) The Tigers have played 6 fewer games, so you also have to take into consideration that, even at sub .500, the Sox are only 2 back in the win column too (nless you assume the Tigers are going to win all 6 of those games, which is a damn near impossible assumption). The Sox still have 123 games left to play too, the Tigers 129. Saying anything is settled on May 11th or 12th is absolutely ridiculous. I, too, believe the Tigers are going to win the division, but you don't see me saying "the Sox are out of the Central" on May 12th when the standings don't mean anything until Memorial Day anyways. Most of of know winning the division isn't probable but since it's only May we can still think we're in the wildcards race. The team is pretty resilient so far. Just need to hold it together for a little longer until some issues are resolved. Get through these next 9 road games at .500 and go from there. Sox showing some TWTW . De Aza needs to exorcise some of those demons left over from 2013. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) I already put all my votes in for Abreu and Alexei.. After rethinking it I think Abreu might be the starter if he continues his hot start and gets more press Too bad that cover of Sports Illustrated with ABreu on the cover was only regional. Any one want to trade one with Trout for the Abreu one ? -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) It would be interesting just to bring one of them up for a week or two and see how they fair.. Never know what you will get.. I know Mitchell has struggled in AAA a lot and on the fast track to being released but might as well give him a shot in the bigs, work with Steverson for a bit and see what happens. Batting 9th, trying to get on base and using his speed couldn't hurt too much.. Yea they both have good eyes and take their walks. They both play good D . They both can run the bases without faceplants and tripping over their own spikes. Why not ? Get a little sniff to say this is what you get when you show us you're ready.
