  1. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) Failure to put up a crooked number in any of these last 3 innings will probably cost. The fight is there, but Guthrie should already be toast. Guess I should be used to this by now. That's exactly right. I know slugging percentage and OPS is an indicator but I'd love to see a stat that says how many hits drive in 2 or more runs at a time. But I'm afraid it would only disclose what we already know.
  2. Q nearing the end. Get through this inning without a run . Damn no sooner typed it .....
  3. That's 3 pitches now right down the middle Flowers has swung through.
  4. Good job Q hang in there buddy, the hitters will get you a win but they need to get at least 2 more off Guthrie before Yost pulls him.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) Does it have to be said that you would love the idea of acquiring the best prospect in baseball? Even given Q's two extra years of cost-effective control, I would have trouble saying no to a Q-Puig swap. I also think it's funny Speigel mentioned adding in Avisail Garcia as if it makes a difference. I don't think the Dodgers would waste a roster spot on Garcia. They do a great job of getting outfielders who either have great defense, great platoon splits or both. One for one the Sox might find that too tempting to resist. Over all though Sox management always talks about getting quality human beings also. Not that Puig is a criminal or anything like that but he does APPEAR to be somewhat self-centered.
  6. Looking more and more like Crain will never pitch again.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) If we had anybody besides Abreu who could elevate and hit a home run we'd be winning a rare blowout today. Guthrie throws meat. Flowers totally missed 2 fat pitches right down the pipe , one a FB ,one a curve that he foul tipped for the K.
  8. Well the Sox got Q his one run, but I'm expecting more. Guthrie isn't fooling too many guys.
  9. Damnit , big hits are so scarce for this team.
  10. Hit one over the fence Tyler.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 10:25 AM) Since June 19 he's hitting about .240. Have you been happy with his production over the last month? .247 in the last 30 days . .308 in the last 7 days.
  12. Samardzija ,Avisail Garcia ,and Adam LaRoche to the Astros for George Springer
  13. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 06:04 AM) Maybe Sanchez goes down instead. Conor could be an extra throw -in to a trade in the coming weeks. Sanchez isn't going anywhere.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) Is Danks our Bruce Chen? Guess you liked that Cy Danks comment I made in the game thread and yes he is .
  15. Avi overdue for a long one.
  16. That's why I didn't want Saladino bunting . Was hoping he could get an extra base hit while Volquez was still in there.
  17. Don't bunt Volquez is done.
  18. Hard to believe Volquez is still out there. I thought he was losing his command last inning.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) Nicely done by Ventura. Robertson the 8th, and Montas the 9th? HA you're funny.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) Only at 90ish pitches, I think they give him another inning, then Montas Montas ? No way unless the Sox are up by 5.
  21. Give Danks his due against his favorite patsies . Do KC fans call him Cy Danks ?
  22. Rios looks different , thinner. Anybody else think so ?
  23. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) 41st time in 87 games played this year the Sox have scored three runs or less. That's 56.3% of their games. Incredible. Another fan asked "when will this team start hitting?" Given that over half a season is in the books the probable answer is "not this year." As Kenny would say, "it is what it is..." Actually it's 47.1264367816 % . 41 is not even half of 87 so it can't be over 50% unless you put in a wrong number in your post somewhere.
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 08:01 AM) i can understand you point and you do make a good one. but i rather give Sale that little extra rest. ref bold 1. a month???? bold 2. Sale is saying the right things. he is not the boss. bold 3, it is this series. the future???? I don't know the exact times he's been allowed to rest or DL'ed for precautionary measures , but I'd say its been a month or close to it every year for the past 3 years. I agree he is not the boss. Yes the future . You want the Sox to get to the playoffs every year while Sale pitches don't you? So far it hasn't happened and the Catch 22 question will remain. How do the Sox make the playoffs while they also rest Sale risking critical games in a pennant race ? And if they do reach the playoffs how can Sale handle the load with only one 30 start season under his belt so far ?
