The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 07:40 AM) I can't believe with every single core group he has kicked in the teeth, how there isn't a ton more hatred for him. I think there is something to the fact that Chicagoans are just used to s***ty politicians (or, depending how you look at it, really really good politicians).

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 07:05 AM) Perhaps 2015 G Hyron Edwards? No clue if he is a top 50 type player or where he might rank. Isn't he from East Chicago though? That's the Region, not the CPL.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 11:03 PM) Yup. ILL is a longshot. Having a coach that knows some people is one thing, but its not the only thing. Dont discount Kentucky's pull ($$) in Chicago while Cal is there either. Frankly I believe IU is going to start pulling Chi HARD. Only one I can think of that IU is in on is Clff Alexander (Curie...2014 I think). Maybe one more that's escaping my mind.

OBAMA/TRUMPCARE MEGATHREAD
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 10:27 AM) I think what is best for everyone is that it is over. Certainty is always better than uncertainty. I would agree...but sadly it's still an election year so we'll hear about it in some form. Instead of "OBAMA'S LAW FAILED" it'll be "OBAMA RAISED YOUR TAXES UNLESS YOU BUY HIS INSURANCE." EDIT: but in terms of knowing which way the law's going, I agree with you.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 04:49 PM) If thats true I feel violated and dirty It is. In the movie, the Cubs have just beaten Miami for the World Series (or are playing in it, can't remember), ie it's October (and in the movie it displays the correct date on the machine).

So most mocks seem to point to Jenkins or Barton (assuming the Bulls stay at 29), though a few still have Teague.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 08:33 AM) I really enjoyed the Newsroom premiere. I liked the pacing, the set up of relationships, the structure, everything. Not sure what the critics who were down on it hated about it. Yeah, I liked it. I agree about the pacing -- really good.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) Summer Shandy is so damn good Decent, but I feel like I'm drinking a lemonade that tastes like beer instead of a beer that tastes like lemonade, which is somewhat off-putting.

2012-2013 Official NHL thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 08:36 PM) Luongo is so much better than what we have in goal, even with his shortcomings. This team becomes an instant cup contender with the guy. Yeah, but part of me would feel a little dirty though. I haven't spent the last few years exactly rooting for the guy.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) Growing marijuana is significantly easier than brewing beer. You could just throw seeds in your backyard and likely get 1 plant, although who knows the quality. That being said, I still think most people would buy super high grade over taking the risk of growing their own. Probably, but couldn't they also legalize the sale of it but not the growing of it? I don't see why not. I'm not saying that'd be a good idea, but it's a possibility.

This is kinda cool. Big Ten is doing pretty poorly, though.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 08:55 AM) I can believe the numbers about the WMDs, but the birther numbers seem a bit extreme for Republicans.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) This is exactly why my seats were in the club level. You can actually watch a game there most of the time. Its amazing. Baseball is at least 95% dead time, but the guy in front of you or the guy with the cotton candy always seem to be up and in your way as the pitch is headed towards home and Dunn is at the plate. If you can get a premium club level seat, they are pretty reasonable on stubhub usually, its the ticket to none of that. This is one of the things I love about Target Field. The ushers don't let people down during batters. Only between batters or innings.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 10:59 AM) Suits tonight! Yes! I love that show way too much. Gabriel Macht and Patrick Adams are just f***ing brilliant in it. And it's always nice when Meghan Markle's on the screen.

2012-13 Music Thread
QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 11:28 PM) I usually steer clear of outdoor music festivals cause of my hated or people, crowds of people, crowds of smelly people and the heat, but this line-up is RIDICULOUS (to me) http://fyffest.com/ And a HELL of a great price for weekend passes.... I will be there Dionsaur Jr., nice. And Against Me! is there, so you can see what the show is like with Laura Jane Grace at the helm. She did her first show last month and it apparently went really well.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) Well, it wasn't in green so I'm going to assume it was. I feel at least half the sarcastic/non-serious posts on Soxtalk are not in green. I mean, he was talking about the Jesus of Nazareth and getting married, seemed design to provoke laughter....
