QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) If Facebook weren't in the mix and I didn't meet Cubssuck1 and Quickman in real life, then I might lie and act like I am. As I do not wear makeup, a bra, go spray tanning and look like the office slut, I am not. So no bartending job for me. Hehe, the proverbial office slut.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:44 AM) So this begs the question: Ross, are you a really hot girl? Her name's Rose, get it right.
  3. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) That would be heaven to me. One of my all time favorite smells Garlic is one of the best smells on Earth.
  4. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 08:13 AM) Have to say the Twins stadium was awesome, you feel close to the field even when walking around the area behind the seats on the lower deck and despite being a last place team or near it the fans made it nearly a full park. Also, people would wait until in between batters to sit down which doesn't seem to happen at the Cell the last few times I've been. I definitely would want to go again sometime if I'm ever anywhere close. That was the first thing I noticed when I walked in, I was so happy about it (but completely forgot about it until you mentioned it). The ushers don't let people down if there's a batter up.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) It's only important in that it was another couple of news cycles focusing on Romney's gaffes and not on Obama and the economy. Romney keeps letting himself be defined negatively and the Obama campaign is really in control of the narrative at this point. I agree with you, but given the 24 hour news cycle and a collective conscience even shorter than that, it feels like what happens in the last week or so before the election is what matters. I don't think this will affect Romney. That said, if Romney's gaffes keep being the storyline, he'll be at a disadvantage in that last week.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 01:04 AM) "Well, your honor, according to you sexual orientation is something we can control. So, if the opposition could please demonstrating by becoming gay and then straight, we'll drop our argument." I sincerely wish it were that simple.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 06:00 PM) No, but it helps if you have taken classes to learn how to do it, or you have experience doing it before, or you are a really hot girl. I think this helps with pretty much anything in life.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:03 PM) Good post, Badger. SSM is basically asking that a currently prohibited behavior be legalized. As it stands now, under federal law, humans must marry opposite genders. All humans. Not just men; not just women; all humans. That isn't discrimination. Doesn't make it right, but it doesn't make it discrimination either. Ding ding ding. In my opinion, the biggest hurdle to getting SSM recognized through the courts is winning the argument that sexual orientation is an immutable characteristic. Once that's taken care of, having sexual orientation being considered a suspect classification should be easier.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:23 PM) One doesn't choose to be a southerner either! Wait... Depends how Reddy was defining "southerner" here. If it's just "live in the south" then sure, that's a choice. But given some of these last few posts, I'm confident in saying that if I walked up to Reddy and asked in a southen accent for directions to US Cellular, he would automatically assume I'm against gay marriage. That accent isn't a choice, and it's that ridiculous stereotyping he's being called on.
  10. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 07:10 AM) forgo a traditional hotdog and nab a Kramarczuk's sausage. If you want something different, there is pork chop or walleye on a stick. If you are a fan of beers not Budweiser, local brews include Surly's (everyone raves about that, but Ive heard the lines are long every game), Summit and Schells Ahhh I forgot they had Kromarczuk's in there. I haven't had one at the field, but I've had them from the deli itself, they are fantastic. Surly's is good, I'm not a big fan of Summit though (but plenty of people are, so don't take my word for it).
  11. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) What I don't like are people that don't accept others for things they can't change, such as skin, sexual orientation and gender. As for me and my "hypocrisy", I don't accept people who CHOOSE to be bigoted. There's a big difference. Uh, I'm pretty sure he was referring to your blanket statement about all southerners being bigoted.

  13. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 12:04 AM) Im going up to Minnesota next weekend to see the Twins/Wsox game and figured I'd ask if anyone has been know the best food there etc. anything would be helpful. All I know is they don't serve churros which makes me a bit sad. I've only been once so far since I moved to Minneapolis, so I can't really remember any food specifically. However, they did have a ton of options that looked good. I think I got some chicken tenders that were pretty tasty. The thing I remember the most is that it's just an absolutely beautiful stadium. Gorgeous. How are you getting to the game? Walking, driving, bus, other?

  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) I don't know why this blew up so much. This isn't new for them. This has been bugging me too. I get it that it's the first time he or anyone else so high up in the company has explicitly said stuff like this, but did anyone think this wasn't what Chik-Fil-A's view would be?

  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) There's a pretty important distinction there. There are people who think homosexuality is wrong and that it's not the preferred family structure in our society. But they don't believe in judging gay people or chastising them or hoping they die a horrible death. You're right, but I think he goes a bit beyond thinking it's wrong and not the preferred family structure with this:

    2012 TV Thread

I'm a new DirecTV customer (got it July 3rd when I moved into a new place). However, they didn't tell me about the free Sunday Ticket deal for new customers. Might have been because I live in an apartment building, so I actually ordered through this company that bundles internet and TV for apartment buildings across the country, including ours. I still get bills directly from DirecTV, though. I'm pissed, I'll pay for Sunday Ticket if I have to (cheaper than going to bars the entire season), but it'd be nice to get it for free.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) What are your roommates house-training plans? Is he experienced with raising a puppy? Yeah, he's raised them before. The puppy's crate trained right now, and my roommate explained the rest of the process.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) Don't be scared. Cats and dogs are awesome. Could be a little annoying at the beginning though due to EXCESSIVE PUPPY ENERGY HELLO I LOVE YOU HEY LETS PLAY THIS LOOKS GOOD TO CHEW. Yeah. I'm mostly worried about the little things I'm not used to, like "Oh hey you peed everywhere!" or "Oh hey thanks for sitting on me you're so cute OH WAIT YOU PEED ON ME." But still mostly excited. Plus, it's his dog, so he's paying for it, primarily taking care of it, etc. I'm just along for the ride.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) They have every right to think that way, you have every right not to consume their products. That's the way I look at it. This. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) I don't think that would even be grounds for a legal discrimination suit since sexuality isn't a protected class. I could be misunderstanding the law, however. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think LGBTQ is a protected class, but doesn't get the highest form of protection there is (that's pretty much race/gender/national origin, I think). There's also different standards for when it's the government discriminating and when private individuals or businesses are, and I don't know much of anything about the private ones.

My roommate is out right now to go pick up a 2 month old golden lab. I've never had a dog, or any other free-roaming pet, before. I'm about 80% excited and 20% terrified.
