QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 11:21 AM) I've seen you link them several times--do you post over there? Nope, I just read it a bunch. Since I started law school a year ago, I've wanted to stay somewhat abreast of current legal issues. Even though it has a slant (libertarian) I don't agree with most of the time, it's still pretty thoughtful, and a great place to just get legal news. One of my professors used to post there, too, and we'd mention it in class a few times. EDIT: I'm referring just to the blog posts themselves. The comments seemed to be more intelligent before they moved over to the new system, but that's just my impression from a small sample size.

Frankly, I didn't have time to read the article yet, so I have no idea if the title is an accurate representation (nor do I think it's an accurate portrait of the GOP), but...I love any headline that says Texas Judge Warns of Civil War if Obama Re-elected

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 10:52 AM) you mean waiting out a season until entering the NBA draft And Calipari never worries about repercussions, come on now I agree with both you and Balta...if Calipari legitimately thought they'd find something he'd bolt, but his ego is big enough to think they'd never find something.

Yeah, I'm not down with this.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) I'm going to see Band of Horses and My Morning Jacket tomorrow at Pritzker Pavillion in Millennium Park. My level of familiarity with either band is pretty low, so I've thrown all of their music into a playlist so I'm not completely blindsided by it. It feels like the time I wrote a 15 page final essay the night and morning before it was due freshman year of college. That time I got a B, not sure I'll be anywhere near as successful this time. I've been told I would like Band of Horses; I've listened to My Morning Jacket a bit, but by no means extensively. Let me know what you think (both performance wise and music wise).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) Both camps denied that it happened like that after that made for TV movie siting that incident happened. Well "happened like that" =/= "didn't happen at all." I figured it was one of those exaggerated stories with some basis in truth...but it's pretty awesome, so I like it.

Senate candidate (and former Governor and Senator) frequently touts his pro-gay marriage position...which is especially cool, since he's running in Nebraska.

Will Konerko pass Thomas for all-time Sox HR lead?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 12:01 PM) Yeah, I have no problem with what Dayan has done this year in LF. He has way exceeded my expectations. Unless the young OF crew moves him to 1B, I have no problems with him out there. Yeah, he's more athletic than I thought, and he's still pretty raw out there. And stereotypically, isn't he kinda short for a 1B? -

I debated between 2014 and not at all...it depends on whether he re-signs after 2013. Frankly, I could see him start sucking in a year, and I could see him hit 20+ a year for the next four years. I have no idea. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 01:09 AM) He doesn't pee anywhere else but the pads now (inside the house) which is good, so there is nothing to clean up as the pads soak it all up. I read somewhere that puppies can't hold piss overnight until their 5 months old anyway, so we have about 6-7 weeks to go. It's incredibly rewarding to see some of the hours of training paying off. He's a smart pup and it's a ton of fun playing with him. My other dog doesn't do s*** because she's a lazy ass 9 pound piece of crap. Here he is...getting big. Forgive me, I'm terrible with dogs -- what breed is that? Or a mix of something?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) M en get raped too. Male-on-male rape is a huge problem in prisons. Yes, I know. I was referring more to the general realm of public discourse though.

I had a dream last night I was at a Bulls game in early December and it was Rose's first game back. Granted, I also had courtside seats, so the dream's already hilariously unrealistic.

I feel one of the absolute truths of life as a man is that you never ever mention rape, unless you're saying "rape is bad." Otherwise, it will end poorly for you.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) I don't know. Lennon was an angry dude. I really wonder if he would have ever done it. I bet he would have at one point. There was actually a really funny story involving SNL and Lennon/McCartney. Right around the time when everyone and their mother was offering the Beatles millions to reunite, SNL did a skit where Lorne Michaels was like "We'll offer the Beatles THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS to perform on SNL!" or something like that. Well, McCartney happened to be visiting Lennon at the time, and they were hanging out at Lennon's place, which wasn't too far from the SNL studio. They were actually watching the show as it aired and were like "Haha, we should just walk down there right now and show up!" But, they decided against it because they were too stoned.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) I loved the part yesterday where Mac was talking to her ex about how Will MacAvoy "struggles with things" and there he is with the pants. The chemistry on that set is incredible. And there is DEFINITELY nothing wrong with Olivia Munn on screen. I feel like the Newsroom is getting better and better each week.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 07:11 AM) Gonna watch TRUE ROMANCE sometime this week. Underrated movie. Apparently Scott had inoperable brain cancer.

I run it on my 360 on 3 mb/s (though I think the company said they just upgraded it to 6, buy I haven't noticed a difference yet...) and it's fine. Obviously not as perfect as watching on tv; it'll lag a few times during the game, but more in that the quality will get crappy for a bit, so you can still watch, it's not like it's just a loading screen. All in all, definitely worth the $50 I paid for it on father's day weekend.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) Solid debut for Copper on BBC America. DVR'd it, I'm looking forward to it though. Looks good.

one of the first ads (or maybe the first) being aired concerning the gay marriage amendment in Minnesota. The amendment is to say marriage is only between a man and a woman; living in the city, I've seen a ton of "VOTE NO" stickers everywhere, but I think it's pretty dead-even statewide. The pro-amendment side has promised they have a ton of their own ad buys coming.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) If you consider the scale of the f***up that Bush was directly responsible for, Bush gets off pretty easy on the offensive invasion of another country that never attacked the United States and wasn't plotting any. I mean, that could go many, many other places, so he should be happy that all that happened is the media was tracking the soldiers that died while he preferred nobody talk about it. If he could have done that I'm sure he would've, but instead he had to settle for ordering no pictures be taken of coffins at Dover. At least SOMEONE was trying to remind people there was a tradeoff and more than one type of cost and it wasn't just a movie or a video game. This is a very good point.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) Really? *YAWN* Why the nice, pretty almost daily body counts then? It's okay, selective amnesia for your royal highness is obvously your mode. Here, let me link up some bulls***. Oh, that helps me support my bias. Here's some more. Yea, that's the ticket. Uh huh, Iraq, Bush sucks, economy, Bush's fault, some more smoke up some more ass, more bias, more bulls***, yea, more $$$$, yea, uh huh. Bush sucks, sucks, more links, suck, suck, more links on how Bush sucks... more "logic", more "fact", Bush sucks... *YAWN* Here's what I don't get -- you routinely throw things like this into your posts towards a Balta or StrangeSox, when they've repeatedly said (and taken consistent positions with that) they disagree about a lot of stuff Obama does, and that he's pretty much the lesser of two evils to them. Why you continue to perpetuate the myth that everyone who doesn't agree with you bows down to Obama, I have no idea.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) I've started seeing ads out here with soccer moms on the pro-legalization side. Ha, that's about as mainstream as it gets. I saw one poll that seemed like it would be pretty sure it would pass, but I have no idea as to its validity.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) LOL. Now we'll see how the wedding band effect works. I'm guessing in reverse. I can't remember where I saw it, but there was a cartoon with wedding couples, and thought bubbles were above their heads for what they were thinking as they said their "I Do's." The woman's was, "YES! No more blow jobs, no more blow jobs!"
