Does Jenks need Ks to be effective?
I would like to know why his velocity dropped though. I saw him pitch vrs the Rockies in 2005 and I swear he hit 102 MPH according to their gun

Sox on TV Twice Next week versus Yankees
QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) So, why don't you get mlb.tv? I don't always have access to the computer. I do listen quite abit to XM radio, but you only get sox announcers when it's a home game.

4/20 Gamethread: Sox (10-7) at Rays (8-10), 12:40 CSN
QUOTE (max power @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:11 PM) They didn't really come back to win like I thought. I swear gameday said toronto were down 3-0 like 15 minutes ago and that score never happened. Either way, the tigers lost. That's good to see. Game day had a score line on the front page of Chisox.com showing Texas playing the Cubs. I don't know what that was about. But, sometimes they can make things confusing

4/20 Gamethread: Sox (10-7) at Rays (8-10), 12:40 CSN
It is good to see the Sox rebound from a loss like they have been doing. If we can avoid any extended losing strask I think we will be in this thing till the end. I have been pleasently surprised by this team and especially Floyd and Danks.

Konerko needs to be benched/traded
Can Frank Thomas still play 1B? Discuss among yourselves. Or maybe Frank-Konerko and Thome can rotate?

Just to let fellow out of town Sox fans know that it's Yank-Sox on ESPN Wednesday Night and then again on WGN Thursday night. I'll be in front of that TV. Wave at me when you see me.

4/20 Gamethread: Sox (10-7) at Rays (8-10), 12:40 CSN
What Boone did is come back from that Orioles fiasco loss and also do what we want our relief corp to do in all games we are in for a win. He shut them down 1-2-3. No fooling around giving up the BB and a hit or more, which is too often how these games are getting closed out. Nice job by Boone and McDouglas yesterday too

QUOTE (Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) When Danks is a FA, Borass is going to make him a ton of money if he keeps pitching this way. Obviosuly the Sox won't be signing him to an extension then if Boorass is in the equation

I maade the switch from Dye to BA for my PTC thinking Broan was going to show the manager he should be starting. Three K's in this game ain't going to do it I don't think. Obviously his timing and mine are off.

Sox Re-Acquire Fernando Hernandez
Someone obviously confused here. The kid weas a ruleV darft pick. Maybe he has some upside since the A's took him, but is it ever going to be with the Sox? Also, Roberto was on with Hawk and DJ last night over WGN. He said he was having a good ole time reconnecting with his family now that he is out of baseball.

Let's hope Mr Danks shows consistency and pitches a good game. That's what I am looking for in our young hurlers right now. Nice to have a W after that shut out last night that I am sorry to say I saw on WGN.

Konerko needs to be benched/traded
We have a number of guys off to slow starts. Last week on WGN the ole Hawkaroo was saying how Greg Walker was really satified with how the betters are performing this (early) season. Hum! We are like the second or third lowest in team BA and he's bragging? The pitching has been excellent, but we could use some spark from our big bats.

Thome's HR
Getting back to the distance of Thome's HR. For what it's worth some mention in a news report was 500 ft??!! I suppose one could plot out a possible distance if they knew enough physics and math and were real good with numbers, etc. I know I ain't.

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 10:06 PM) Ozzie lied! Uribe back in there tonight at second, and no Joe tonight. Swish CF, OC SS, Thome DH, PK 1B, Dye RF, AJ C, Quentin LF, Ozuna 3B, Uribe 2B Still no Brian Anderson either

Owens Activated off of the DL
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 07:59 PM) It's also entirely possible that good performances by Anderson and Owens this year will give KW the motivation to do a salary dump and move either Dye (freeing up RF) or Thome (Freeing up DH) this offseason. That may be entirely possible. Do you think he might even attempt to trade Dye before the season goes much further? Or Konerko too?

QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 04:51 AM) I don't know about anyone else... but I love watching Javy pitch. Hopefully, once again, I will be asking "Chris who?" ddddddddddddddddddddd Me too. The game Saturday night is on WGN. who pitches then?

Ramirez to get some chances at 2nd base
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) I can tolerate a .146 average from Ramirez at 2B for a little while since I know he still has to develop at the MLB level, he won't hit .146 forever, and that the alternative is never going to do any better since Richar is not here. Sorry, but I can't tolerate that batting average at all from anyone at the big league level. If Ramirez plays or if it's Uribe and they stay at 2B they need to produce. Once I remember Ozzie and Kenny saying that the bigs weren't the place to learen but to produce. Now, I can take a .220 average as long as you can play good defense.

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 03:32 AM) Uribe is pathetic with the bat, can we DH for the 2nd baseman and let the pitcher hit. At least the pitcher might take more pitches. I agree with you and Fathom on this one. This guy has so much talent, but once the bell rang for the season opener he went back to the old Juan Uribe. Absolutely horrible with the bat so far. But, I am concerned that we saw a return to last seasons relief woes. What happened to Jenks 100 MPH fastball? He has fallen in love with the curve ball that I thought tonight especially looked pretty feeble. We wasted a great effort by Floyd and then to have back to back jacks to retake the lead 4-2 only to lose like this in the 9th and 10th is pathetic. So we had a bad game I guess and can only hope they rebound tomorrow and don't lose leads like this again

Stone believes Roberts will be still be traded
I would find this trade idea more plausible if Uribe was included in it. Fields is possible trade bait too and I would like to see Crede re-signed. But, I don't see this trade happening based on contract issues and talent to move.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 01:16 AM) Konerko seemed almost stunned he threw the ball. He really wasn't totally prepared to get in front of it. Thanks for the update. I am on MLB game day so no clue of what really took place

4/16 Gamethread: Sox (8-5) at Orioles (8-6); 6:05; WCIU
Just when I have everyone convinced Joe Crede is a God and should be signed to a long term contract he makes an error. What's a fellow to do?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 01:10 AM) Thome is one of the streakiest players in baseball. When he's in a slump, he can't hit anything. Its amazing everytime he goes through a slump, how many think he's washed up. He is old by dog age standards though
