  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) Eh. to play 2B or 3B? Have to think 3B, in which case I wonder how many old, slow, RH 3B we need along with our young, average LH 3B
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:31 PM) Vet MI, and an OF bat was always the course. Dealing SP to acquire was definitely something that was going to happen. I dont see them modifying the pen much if at all. Wish Kendrick was involved. We'd have a much, much better looking team if he or a similar player was here. Then you'd just need a serviceable catcher
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) OH NFL executives! How you show all of your cards and never use the media during negotiations slays me! The Bears aren't interested in spending $16 million for one season of Jay, but they will if they have to - while Jay and his agent will simply say "we have no reason to sign a cheap extension. and Emery can say "we have no reason to sign you for that much money as it will make it so that our team cannot improve enough to make the playoffs. We also have a guy that outplayed you last year that will sign for a nickel."

    I don't have a clue
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:18 PM) Snodgress doesn't impress me at all, actually. Struggles to put up a 2+ K/BB. I don't love him either, but he is indeed close to MLB by virtue of being a AAA starter this year in all likelihood. Does have a chance of putting things together. Good frame, some talent
  6. Well, Danish should be quite a bit more than a year away, even though he has the talent to surprise
  7. I think we plan on having him start when healthy
  8. And of course you have guys like Beck and Snodgress who are probably just a season away, if that
  9. I'd much rather receive Eaton than Trumbo. I thought you guys didn't like Adam Dunn
  10. It's all DJ Richardson's fault
  11. Noooo I want to get older and s***tier! Give me Dan Uggla!
  12. I've always been a big fan of Cutler. I think I may just be a bigger fan of Trestman
  13. I think Santiago for Eaton may be fair, but Santiago plus prospect is not something I'm looking for. If prospect adds Kendrick, then sure. If Quintana gets you Kendrick, then okay.
  14. Kendrick and Eaton turns us into a legitimately decent team
  15. Emery has already said that he does not feel comfortable giving Cutler the money that will go to a franchise tagged QB. It's too much money.
  16. McCown has been started 7 games in a row twice. The last time, his team went 6-7 with him on the field and 0-3 off. The only other time he had significant starting time was three years later in Oakland where he replaced a just 30-year-old Daunte Culpepper, who didn't fare any better than McCown did. This is the just the second time he's consistently started, the third our fourth time in a decade that he's had appreciable playing time, and the first time he's had a decent supporting cast around him. In Arizona, he had two rookie wideouts that turned out great -- Boldin and Fitzgerald. Arizona replaced McCown with Kurt Warner, who went 2-8. While McCown is almost surely not this good, it is not impossible that he is much, much better than the McCown of the past that played sporadically for horribad football teams.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:26 AM) Either has McCown. Except...right now. It isn't so much that McCown is Jesus Christ incarnate, it's that he has exposed the possibility that what we are getting from Jay Cutler is not worth this much money and drama
  18. It is hard to reconcile the fact that I don't believe Cutler has ever had a 6 game run like this -- certainly nothing even close while he's been a Bear.
  19. FWIW, UZR is not very helpful over a 60 game span. Borderline useless, really.
  20. Eaton is indeed an exciting player, but I wouldn't expect the general fanbase to really know that. He's hardly played in MLB
  21. Eaton is a super fast, 5'8" lefty that could best be characterized as a prototypical leadoff hitter. He often walks as much as he strikes out, steals bags really well, puts the ball in play to make his speed work, and plays good defense all around the OF. Has a good arm despite his size. Maybe not an out of this world defender in CF, but definitely good enough if you believe years of scouting reports.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) I think its better to have an amazing offense and an improving young defense than have both units be average. The defense this year is incredibly injured, what are the odds that we lose that many players next year? Plus the LB core will actually have some experience and we can fill with draft picks. What about this offense looks average? I've never seen a Bears offense look as good as it has during the "McCown era" starts
  23. If I could trade Jay Cutler for a handful of defenders right now, I wouldn't hesitate
  24. Catch the ball Brandon, we have better options
