  1. I believe Canseco. I really do. Why after all these years does Rodriguez(also, I will never call this man Pudge) feel heavy behind the plate. It's just interesting to me that most all players named by one person or another wind up admitting to being on the juice.
  2. QUOTE(Bridgeport Sox @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) I would think people would want Rowand 3rd sometimes. Just because you would have 3 speedy guys at the top. I tend to see it as a good idea also, but its still a good idea to put a power guy there. Hopefully PK, but thats just my opinion PK is not a 3 hole hitter. If Podsednik or Iguchi get on base and PK is first pitch swinging and hitting routine grounders, that's a ton of DP's. PK is best suited to hit 4-6, IMO.
  3. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Maybe 3.. but lets see what he puts up this year before we start handing out more BS contracts much like Uribe's this year. Maybe we should give THomas 17 mil a year cause 11 years ago he won an MVP :rolly Ok, obviously I don't think he should get 17. I'm not totally disagreeing with you either on the 10 mil for next year. But, a pay cut? That is absurd and so is 2 or 3 mil per year
  4. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) Wow. I guess 42 homers in a steroid-free body for a year doesn't get you much nowadays. Of course it does, Anthrax says it deserves 2 mil per year plus incentives.
  5. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) Enough with the Cabrera talk, we all know we lost out on a great SS, its okay KW managed to cover his tracks Your right Frank was not on the DL, but he didn't put up any decent numbers since 00, to be payed the type of money. When you sit there and say Thomas should get paid 10mil for 06 for .260/35/80 ish .. Who is the Cub Fan then? That is Sosa-like..And Sosa is vastly overpaid. 42 HR in 2003 I'd rather see Ozzie out there at SS than Cabrera.
  6. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) MVP's and batting titles, How does that Help the team? It doesn't . Why is everytime I have an actually reality of a player you guys have to bring up Caberea? IS that your only arguement? When was the last time Thomas did anything for this team? Granted he is a great player just not worth what he is getting paid. If we as a TEAM are only having 70 mil payroll, sorry I don't want to have 1/7 of it on the DL for 1/2 a year.. Which is what Frank has done the past 4 years. Probably because all the posts that everyone has had to endure regarding Cabrera. I'm sorry but I only recall Frank being on the DL in 2001 and 2004, someone correct me if I'm wrong. And if you can honestly sit there and tell me that Frank is overpaid and needs to take a pay cut to stay with The Sox with some of the other salaries out there, then you have been listening to your I'm The Man CD way too damn loud.
  7. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) Below his worth?? WTF, 6 million when all he has to do his come up to hit 3-4times a game, compared to Caberea who playes the feild.. ooo one other question for you.. How Many WS rings does Thomas have compared to Caberea? Thomas should get a 2 year 2mil deal with incentives..nothing more. Oh please, Cabrera got traded midseason to The Red Sox. Good for him. How many MVP's has Cabrera won, how about batting titles? Frank has carried this team for years and has up to this point been unreplaceable in The Sox line-up. Can you say the same for Cabrera. 2 million plus incentives, are you sure your not a Cubs fan?
  8. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) he was instrumental in the 03 division race. He had so many big hits. Frank has been loyal to the team. He's never demanded tobe traded and his contract has been below market value most of the time. The team should reward his loyalty by keeping him. Let's not act likes he's a liability at the plate. A .430 obp last year says otherwise. Remember The Angels game where Washburn was no hitting The Sox until Frank hit the 2 run HR to tie and then another 2 run HR to win it? It was awesome.
  9. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) If Frank is willing to take a pay cut then I am all for him being here, but since he has not put up the money worth his play 10 mil .. SEE YA. Frank has been paid well below what he is worth in my opinion anyway. When guys that shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Frank are making in excess of 10 million per year and he makes 6, that is what is pathetic. What kind of pay cut do propose Anthrax? 1 year 1 million? That's all Cabrera should have gotten.
  10. It seems the only thing that has remained consistent is Dye batting 3rd which I have a huge problem with. Myself, if Frank is not ready obviously, Rowand 3rd followed by Konerko, Everett, then Dye. Just me, though.
  11. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Frank has always been used by writers to stir the pot. I will say this, this has been a trying offseason for me as a Sox fan. They got rid of two of my four favorite players. I know Buehrle will be around for awhile, but if things end badly with Frank, I may not forgive the organization. We don't need another Fisk situation. I know that Frank will try to stay in town as long as management doesn't slap him in the face. I swear that Kenny Williams better not try to run him out of town. Punch you are right on here. I'm still not completely over the whole Fusk thing, he is and always will be my favorite player of all time. Ventura and Baines are also 2 of my favorites and I had to watch Robin leave under bad circumstances and see Harold traded twice. Maggs and Carlos weren't up there on my favorites list so I'm not as heartbroken to see them go, but if things end badly with Frank, that willl be unfortunate because he is The White Sox.
  12. QUOTE(Beastly @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 06:37 AM) I'm disagreeing with you on trading Harris. If you are bringing in an infielder, why are you losing one? It makes no sense to me. All I know is I want Borchard out of town. I'm ready for the season. 2 days, 6 hours, 26 min, 40 seconds and counting... Because Harris plays only 2B in the INF, that's the only reason. The Sox need a guy who can play multiple INF positions right now, leaving Harris as the odd man out, IMO.
  13. I've got a the 9 game plan that I shared with a buddy, with my work schedule and other issues will probably get to 5 of those plus a bus trip in June to Sox/Cubs. I also am getting a ticket to another bus trip to Wrigley for a father's day present. Personally, I don't want to go to Wrigley but the g/f bought one for me and her dad.
  14. I noticed on The Sox website that they don't have a bobblehead day. Anyone know if they are planning on doing one this year and it has yet to be released? I do know that they have produced a Tom Paciorek one already that was already given away to season ticket holders or the fantasy camp or something like that.
  15. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) That's not possible. We must win at least 50 games before the all-star break. This team will have to find a way to win 30 games before Thomas' return in June. I'm still holding on to hope that Thomas will be ready to go by opening day. Wasn't the whole June thing Ozzie's thinking or has there been something written regarding his status that confirms he will be out until June?
  16. I know the guy is going to get paid a million this season. Can he just be waived to get his salary off the books? Personally, I like him. However, wouldn't it make more sense for The Sox to try and trade/waive him so Burke can be kept? Burke is a more versatile player that can play 3 positions. What is it that is keeping Davis on the roster besides salary obviously? His defense? The fact that he is a switch hitting catcher?
  17. QUOTE(Beastly @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 05:50 AM) I don't see why this is such a big deal. I don't think Escobar can come back from the injury to be the top ranked player like he was, when he was the key component in the Roberto Alomar Indians/Mets deal a couple years ago. I'm hoping that now my boy Jamie Burke makes the team as a utility player. He can be played at 3rd, catcher, and outfield. I better not see that sorry piece of s*** Borchard on the team come April 4th. I hope they designate his ass for assignment, or release him, because he's a pain in the ass. You don't sit there and wait on a guy who got a bonus and hasn't lived up to anything. This year it is make or break for him, and since I saw what I saw in the Mexican League release, he's already behind. I'll rip on him all I want, because look at his numbers, and I'm not even seeing any injuries, so there's no excuse. I don't see any major infielder coming in, seeing as how we have Iguchi coming in to play 2nd base. And these relievers? I thought our bullpen was set...or are we discussing the sake of a 25th man here? Am I confused? rockin emoticons guys I agree here. Burke and Valdez should make this team as the 24th and 25th guys. Burke can spell Crede at 3rd so Uribe can concentrate on SS and only SS. Let Valdez be this year's Uribe seeing time at both 2B and SS. Trade Willie for a minor leaguer and let's gget this season going.
  18. I guess if they couldn't send Escobar to AAA this is alright. I was big on Escobar, I wanted him to make this team.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) with a BAC of .7 he would be dead. It must be .07 which is under legally drunk in any state. typo, yes, I meant .07
  20. QUOTE(Purdue129 @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) adding to my already too big of a hat collection, I picked this one up at lids today: There is no such thing as too many hats.
  21. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) The last line of the article claims he took two and passed them, that's why I was puzzled. I'm puzzled too. This makes no sense. If someone passes a BAC test, they are free to go as long as DUI is the only charge. Actually I am going to edit this based on an assumption. With the BAC being a .7? If IIRC, and the article saying that he took the tests at the station an hour later. Therefore, I am going to assume they are going to attempt to try and prove that he was on his way down and legally drunk at the time of stop. There are various ways to prove this. Hope that helps.
  22. I am a big hat collector. I personally have over 200 hundred Sox hats and you can find good ones anywhere. My favorite place to go is hatworld. But you can also go on ebay. jcpenney, grandstand, finishline, etc.......... All of them have websites as well.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) i understand it would be nice to have Felix Diaz but is it really right to hold back a guys career if he is ready to contribute but wont get a chance on our team barring injury? Maybe if there was a deal that he would still be under contract with us and play in Japan? I don't think there is a problem with that. Depth is very important and for once, The Sox have it. I wouldn't give let Felix or Grilli, for that matter go anywhere.
  24. Can anyone do a modification to my sig. I still want the pics I have now, but would like The Cell in the background and AJ and the current Sox Logog added. Thanks
