White Sox @ Tribe Game Thread (4/14, 6:05 p.m. CT)

QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) For Carl... Any updates on Carl? Once again, I blame Ozzie. He is a terrible manager -
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) I think he probably remembers enough to not get hurt, which is all I'd really expect. I thought he was the emergency catcher, but I could be wrong on that. If not PK, who? I know Graffanino was in '03, but as far as last year and this, I have no idea who it would be. But, I'll say it could be Konerko over anyone else on the team right now.

Ozzie Guillen=terrible. Why is Contreras brought out to pitch the 7th. I thought that is why we acquired Hermanson Vizcaino, kept Politte. Jose salvaged what was a terrible beginning into a nice start and should have been done after 6. But instead idiot Ozzie brings him out in the 7th and he gives up the lead. Ozzie is not a very good manager. I'm very happy with the win, despite the manager constantly making bad decisions.

Fisk. Period

This is exactly the reason why I have said sicne last season that Ozzie has a long way to go as far as being a manager. I was even pissed sitting out in LF on opening day when he lifted Buerhle for Shingo. I know it's only The 3rd game of the season, but when Jose Contreras pitches like he does today, you need to win the game because they aren't going to be many like this.

10,000 people is just pathetic. I don't care what day of the week it is.
-
Go to the sportsnation vote heading and take a look at some of the crap there. They actually have Jeremy Bonderman listed with other AL pitchers as preseason pick for the Cy Young. But, no Buehrle. Unreal. They also have Maggs listed for MVP. They do have Konerko as a finalist for HR champ, but he is currently in last place. f*** em, Prove them wrong.

I went Friday Night. I sat in section 115, 9 rows from the field. Very nice place. It was nice to watch live baseball again. I was disappointed that AJ, Podsednik, and Uribe didn't play.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 29, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) Don't hold me to this, but here is what I think the situation is. Widger is signed to a minor league contract and is not on the 40 man roster, so the option thing is not an issue. He can be assigned to Charlotte, unless they have an agreement that Widger can shop himself around if he doesn't make the team. Thanks, sort of what I thought. Kind of like the scenario with Jose Santiago and Vic Darensvourg from last year. Either way, I like this guy in our system. Side note- if my typing is off tonight, forgive me, with the significant other and my 18 month old daughter in Florida this week, in conjunction with my only day off this week, let's just say, I went out and enjoyed myself tonight.
-
Just curious to what Chris Widger's status is with the Sox this season when he doesn't make the team? I am assuming that he is out of minor league options. My personal preference is to have this guy in Charlotte ready to go if someone goes down on the southside. Can someone please clear this up for me?

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) Well, I somewhat disagree. Contreras has a Jekyll and Hyde syndrome where he's unhittable one start but can't find the plate and gets rocked in his next start. At least he's good during some of his starts as opposed to Diaz who sucks in all of his starts. Apparently you missed that game against The Cubs last summer?
-
I can see Willie and Borchard going, but Crede and Contreras will get their chances with The Sox this season. Just wish the damn thing would get here already

QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) So now he's only out a few days? What is this? Honest to god, Fred Huebner said that offman was reporting he inuured his toe shagging flyballs and would be shut down for a few days because he tore ligaments in his big toe. I didn't think much of it until I saw the Buehrle breaks foot title.
-
I just heard on The Score that it was ligaments in his toe and he is being shut down for a few days.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 07:46 AM) Pretty easy there, basically the only spot left for pitching is that last lefty bullpen slot. I personally am hoping that Kevin Walker can continue to impress and we can let Neal get some time to start down in charlotte. I'm with you on the Walker thing. If we could have Cotts, Adkins, McCarthy, and Diaz all in the minors starting and doing well, that is depth that not many other teams can match.

QUOTE(Beastly @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) I'd give him a minor league deal. Go ahead and mock me, but vets who used to be good and are "washed up" can come back. Thats all. Yeah, but that's what Toronto did in this instance. -
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) I know we have room for Ozuna but what about Kevin Walker? He has looked great so far. He fools hitters with his delivery and slow stuff. I would love to see him in our bullpen. I would like to hear your thoughts on this! If Walker can continue this, I'd love to see Cotts back in AAA working on being a starter.
-
I read it in today's Sun Times. Said he he signed a minor league deal and is already in camp.

I haven't posted in a few days, but when I just di in the Jerry Owens number topic, I have a new avatar. It's a mugshot of someone from The Sox, I didn't apply this avatar, anyone know how this could have happened? Kinda fraking me out.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) There was another catcher for the Sox that had a 70 something number.
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I still have the Illini winning it all. Yep as a matter of fact, they won't lose again.
-
QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Mar 5, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) Apparently, I've heard that the Score might be dropping the Blackhawks even if a season is good to go for next season. This would leave The Score with an empty professional sport broadcasting schedule, so it wouldn't be a bad idea for the Sox to go over there. Plus, there are a ton of Sox lovers over there, so it would be strategically sound. It would be completely awesome if they were to bring back Julie Swieca to possibly co-hostess the pre- and post-game shows. She knows a lot about the Sox and baseball in general, and listeners do like her. What happened to her? I didn't care for her much, but she did know her stuff, I'll give her that.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) Carlton Fisk.... :sleep Whoopty f**king doo. No one cares about this old nag anymore. I, for one, do. No other player wil ever come along to replace him as my favorite.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) BTW, say thanks for the money that will turn into the Sox move in July, or maybe here in the next month. Maybe I'm a moron, but what do you mean there?
