Marc is unhappey allready, they screwed him with that bull sh.t pay they gave him last year. He has rejected all of the sox offers. He willprobably leave in 06 unless they can get him happy again.
-
maybe montreal has another deal that is going to happen and they needed him to fit in with the equation.
-
I dont know if anyone else has said this.... but who will be our real #1 pitcher? Colon maybe because he has had more experience and has won 20 games or Mark because he seems that he will win 20 games and also is guarenteed to be around to 06? I think this is the best problem we have had in a long time. But first things first lets try to get Colon to stay, lets lock him in NOW! Our puzzle pieces are all togther and the puzzle is showing a picture of A RED HOT OCTOBER!! SOX in 03!

I heard the interview and KW said that he is going with his conscience and is probably going to go out and look to improve our bullpen somemore, a guy that can 3 innings. Great trade if Flash is healthy and colon does what he is supposed to do, we will be fine!
-
Well I like the trade. In a way i do think that we might of given to much for him considering that he is a free agent next year, but on the other hand if he wins 20 games next year and we get into the playoffs it will be worth it. I really never like Osuana, ever sinced we aquired him he seemed to not fit in with the players and the fans. Probably because of the 1st year he had with us, remember when he gave up i think 6 runs in 4 at bats or something like that. As far as biddly goes, well I can see parting with him we have alot of other guys that can fill his role in the organization and also, KW was on espn and he said that he is going with his conscience and is looking to find someone to take his spot. Heck if we get FLASH and he stays healthy he can be the person to fill his role. From the looks of things, KW seemed to have had this one planned out for a while, just look at the scenario, we trade LIEFER and OSUNA and we get colon and FLASh and RIOS to fill the holes. ALL this can't come about in 1 day, he knew this for a while. Bruce levine said that don;'t be surprised right before soxfest KW makes an announcement. Hey this is just my opinion.

It sounds like alot that we gave up, but if Colon pitches like he has proven to. it will all be worth it! Now we need to lock him up for more then just this year.

I just read what peter gammons article said and he expects the sox to be one of the surprise teams in 03 gammons: "The White Sox: It will all come down to starting pitching, and while GM Ken Williams has been strapped by payroll issues -- he nearly had Russ Ortiz in a trade, then barely lost out on signing Omar Daal -- the makings behind Mark Buehrle are there, as evidenced by the fact that their starters' ERA after the All-Star break fell to 4.25 from 4.76. "What I liked was that Jon Garland and Dan Wright got better in the second half and they pitched well against contending teams on the road," says Williams. They will look at Jon Rauch, Rocky Biddle and rookie Josh Stewart (11-7 at Double-A) as Williams keeps trying to find experience. The bullpen (Billy Koch, Antonio Osuna, Kelly Wunsch, Damaso Marte, Gary Glover) is deep and versatile. They have the energetic leadersip of Jose Valentin, who is a special person and they have established producers like Magglio Ordonez and Paul Konerko. They also expect Frank Thomas to come back strong and they have young players like Joe Crede, Willie Harris, Miguel Olivo, Josh Paul and Aaron Rowand they hope will develop" Also here is the link gammons

Well I 'm not going because I want to see maggs or konerko. I am going because I want to see Kenny Williams because I want to stick my FOOT so far up his ASS I want to see it come out his mouth! I want to tell him a piece of my mind, I have been holding it in for along time and he is going to hear it from me!!!! ......Unless of course we happen to get colon or vazquez then I might reconsider. lol

I can see where everyone can get mad at the fact that no one wants to cover the sox or in that matter just don't want to. Well let me ask you this.... WHAT HAVE THE SOX DONE TO DESERVE BEING TALKED OR WROTE ABOUT? ( at least in the national spotlight.) asside from the fact they made a good trade with Koch, they haven't done anything at all and I really don't think they plan on doing anything. now to the fact that the cubs get all the attention in the newspapers and televsion is a bunch of bull! Heck, I have even been noticing that the suntimes... which always favors the sox, have been putiing everything about the cubs and hardly anything about the sox in the paper. Just because they got a new manager doesn't mean that they are going to win. Thats ok because when it is all said and done, like usual we will have a better record and we will show who is a better team.
-
LOL that is a good one! You hit it right on the money.
-
I am a season ticket holder also but the good thing is I get my season tickets from CITY HALL. It is a shame I waste favors on a team that has the worst owner and management that don't give a rats ass about the team or the fans. Somtimes I wonder why I am still a die hard fan, and why I will continue to be.
-
This offseason has been one of the worst offseason's for the sox that I can remember. We have barely made it into the headlines at all and the cubs are getting 97% of the media and news coverage. This offseason I have seen a very uncommited front office that is standing around doing nothing. We have yet been involved in any good talks with anyone. Heck we can't even sign our own pitchers to deals so what makes everyone think we can sign other peoples pitchers, . As far as trades go I am VERY PISSED! we should of been in the hunt for everyone out there, millwood, ortiz, even colon(he won;t be comming our way when he is traded). We had many opportunities to improve our club and we didn't! It just shows that the white sox are not commited to winning anything, they just do enough to keep you interested. We have some offseason left and hopefully kw and reinsdork and come to their senses and realize that we almost have a winner but we need some final pieces in the puzzle, before the puzzle breaks up.

I still say see if the yanks would like to make a trade for 1 of their 7 outstanding starting pitchers almost anyone of them would fit nicely asside from Wells but he could possible work. If not how about trying to sign kenny rogers for cheap if his price will come down. just a suggestion.
-
I had no idea what I was thinking in starting this topic........IF WE WOULDN'T GET IN THE RACE FOR KEVIN MILLWOOD FOR A 3RD STRING CATCHER, THEN WHY IN HELL WOULD WE EVEN consider trying to go and get a starter from the yanks for probably little or nothing HAHA sometimes I just don't think! KW'S 50 cents was spent a long time ago on TOLIET PAPER because of all the BULLs*** coming out of his ass!!!
-
I don;t know if anyone has said anything about this yet; but if I am correct with the signing of Clemens today..... the yanks have a total of 7 people in their starting rotation Jeff Weaver, David WElls, Orlando HErnandez, Andy Pettit, Mike mussina, Jose Conteras and Roger Clemens. Don't you think they would want to get rid of 2 or at least 1 of their starting pitchers? Maybe Weaver? I think KW should make a call over their and see what we can get our hands on.
-
What about kenny rogers? I know that he made 7.5 million last year, but what if we can get him at say 3 or 4 mil. He was 13-8 and a 3.84 era for texas. He has pitched over 200 innings 5 times in his career and he was 19-3 in oakland before he went to texas. maybe a change of scenery will do him some good. If we got our offense overpowering teams like we expect, I think KR could get some more wins and improve with us. He might not be a great pitcher like maddux or clemens but he might be able to get the job done. But..... on the downside of this we tried the whole change of scenery and our offense will get more wins for Ritchie thing last year, so do we really want to try this again? Maybe; if we can get him at a steal. heck we all know Kenny isn't going to make any blockbuster deal to land someone like Clemens or Colon. Why not give it a try.
-
I really don't think JB was that bad with the sox. He was a decent pitcher in our rotation and he also was a clubhouse leader. He was the guy that was up standing in the dugout cheering on our guys nomatter if we were losing by ten or winnng by ten. I wouldn't pay him no 5 million a year or anything maybe 2 or 3.

I have finally read a good article in todays newspaper from our most famous sports writer in town.. Jay Mariotti! For those who don't know who he is; he writes for the chicago suntimes(for our outside of the state fans). He explained everything perfectly like how both teams cubs and the sox are not commited to winning the world series, and how KW talks nothing but bulls***. I am sure you can read his article on chicagosuntimes.com Anyone else read it? what did you guys think?

We have alot of work to do as far as signings go....

I see that alot of them are arbitration ellible but the sox need to start showing some interest in their players that contribute instead of just brushing them off. -
I would like to see Cal in our organization as a pitching coach someday. Since he is still trying to pitch, best of luck to him!

none knows for sure that he wants out, but i know if I was being treated like that, I sure in hell wouldn't want to play for a team that isn't commited to winning. I have been a die hard fan for years along with everyone in my family and I just don't see the sox ever being commited to winning I don't want to step on anyone toes by saying that but I think it is true.. we only do so much just to give the fans a teese as if to keep our interests going. -

I think buerhle is year for a few more years, but I don;'t know until 06 maybe until 05? But don;t you think the sox should be fair with the guy, look what he can do. He is given the least amount of money he can make because of somesort, i really don;'t know the technicalities of it thou. I can see right know that he won't stay here after his elligble to leave because the sox really don't commit to anyone they will run them away or treat them like s***. -
I found this on whitesox.com and to see all these people of whom alot of them contribute to the team at this moment un signed after this year is a shame.... Roster update: Friday's moves reduced the 40-man roster to 37 players. Of those currently on the club's roster, nine are signed for the 2003 season, but Magglio Ordonez (2004) and Paul Konerko (2005) remain the only players currently signed beyond 2003. Pitchers (21): Jon Adkins, Edwin Almonte, Rocky Biddle, Mark Buehrle, Felix Diaz, Billy Koch, Jon Garland, Matt Ginter, Gary Glover, Delvis Lantigua, Corwin Malone, Damaso Marte, Arnie Munoz, Antonio Osuna (2003), Mike Porzio, Jon Rauch, David Sanders, Josh Stewart, Brian West, Dan Wright, Kelly Wunsch (2003) Catchers (3): Sandy Alomar Jr. (2003), Miguel Olivo, Josh Paul Infielders (9): Joe Crede, Tony Graffanino (2003), Willie Harris, Tim Hummell, D'Angelo Jimenez, Paul Konerko (2005), Jeff Liefer, Frank Thomas (2003), Jose Valentin (2003) Outfielders (4): Joe Borchard, Carlos Lee (2003), Magglio Ordonez (2004), Aaron Rowand We have alot of work to do, somebody but get there ass in motion and figer out who they want to keep for just this year and who they want to lock in for a few more years. In other disturbing news I am hearing that kenny williams offered Mark B a long term contract and Buerhle is regecting the sox because of what they did to him last year by only giving him the least amount of money he was eligible for and also for trying to low ball him with the contract they are offering him. That is real nice lets go ahead and piss off the ace of our staff and our only real proven pitcher that can go out and pitch day in and day out. Also as soon as the braves offered arbitration to Maddux, we should of been right on the phone with atlanta saying we want one of your starters, LETS MAKE A DEAL! I'm just thinkg that atlanta really didn't want to give away a proven starter to the Phill's when they are in the same division, was that the best offer there? Some things I will never be able to figure out. Way to go Kenny! :eek
