Sox turn down trade offer for Alexei from Cardinals
Leonard Zelig replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Local radio guy just said that Kozma is better defensively than Alexei. -
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:13 AM) So much for the keep Peavy and build around him nonsense rumors. Andre Rienzo is expected to be called up to start in Peavy's place on Tuesday. Per Rotoworld good scoop

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:26 PM) Caulfield, where have you been? On a safari.

Anybody who enjoys microbrews should definitely check out Asheville, NC and the surrounding areas. I just got back. We hit 15 different breweries in 5 days. Very cool, laid back place surrounded by the Smoky Mountains.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:41 AM) Yeah couldn't tell if it was speculation or news but I missed a lot of it. They also were saying it may not matter if a deal was done or not that the Braves could take him anyways if he's off the DL in a week after the deadline. What do you mean? He would still have to pass through waivers, right?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 02:19 PM) Heck, there's the one infamous time that he even pissed Ozzie off by having all the TV's on college football after a loss late in a season. That's dogging it?

QUOTE (joeynach @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 06:18 PM) Are you kidding me. I pray Rick Hanh is working the phones and placing calls on Sale. I wouldn't publicly shop him and say flood me with calls. But I would call a few teams in need of SP that you have a good relationship with and see if those select few would like to work out a package for Sale. I am talking the type of haul the Rangers got for Mark Texeria; Derek Holland, Neftali Feliz, Elvis Andrus. If Hahn can get that kind of package for Sale you 100% trade him, even though he has a team friendly deal. This team is bad and with no real talent in the minor leagues penciled in for roles with the big league club if you can get three for one here you do it. This team is a lot closer to a cubs like tear down and rebuild than they are to building around Sale to compete in the next 2-3 years. Sale is the one piece than can accelerate the tear down and rebuild ten fold. Nope, not kidding. I hope Sale is on the White Sox for a very long time.

7/20, Sox vs Braves, Peavy back

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) Anyone know a site that will be streaming the games video for us out of towners? mlb.tv -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 02:54 PM) Not really. It wasn't Castro or Rizzo. Those are really only 2 ML pieces that matter. It was speculated that it could have been Dejesus, Schierholtz, or even James Russell. Yeah, well see, in that case, you know who the other Cub may have been. Which backs up my statement.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) This was supposedly the package agreed upon in the Garza deal. This should bode well for the Sox trading Peavy as this is a nice haul Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo 3m #Cubs-#Rangers stalled deal was Garza + another #Cub to #Rangers for Neil Ramirez, Luis Sardinas, Mike Olt, CJ Edwards per @JeffWilson_FWST Kind of difficult to rate that deal without knowing who the other Cub is.

Nick Cafardo @nickcafardo 29m The Red Sox have scouted both Alex Rios and Michael Young in the past week. Will be watching Jake Peavy closely in his next couple of starts

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 10:51 PM) Your on a roll with this subject. s*** happens. Those players earned those contracts, GMs can't forsee the future. Matt Kemp, Pujols, and A Rod were always MVP candidates year in and year out. A GM is not gonna say "wellll idk, I think they might bust even though they've consistently been phenomenal talents" Same goes with your true target in this silly little tangent, Adam Dunn. He was one of the most consistent power hitters over the last some odd years. A GM has no way of knowing he's all of sudden going to become less of a singles/doubles hitter. All these players have built up a solid enough reputation to garner these contracts. Pujols is going to get paid $87,000,000 for the 3 seasons when he is 39, 40, & 41 years old. Not sure even he has built up the reputation to warrant that contract.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 05:36 PM) Interesting. I really do wonder what kind of haul we could get for a stud like Sale. I hope we do not find out.

Maybe you have forgotten, but he had won World Series less than 2 years earlier.

Thanks for posting this video. I was in Carbondale when this happened too. Drive By Truckers played at Boo Jrs. that night.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2013 -> 02:44 PM) That series is on the Dybber's baserunning gaffe. Ridiculous. That seems to be what everybody remembers, but the Sox scored 3 runs in 4 games in that series. Kinda hard to win that way.
