  1. Sam Adams Winter Variety pack is a winner this year. They replaced the White Ale with a coffee stout. 2 each of: Old Fezziwig Holiday Porter Winter Lager Black and Brew Chocolate Bock Boston Lager My only complaint is that this pack is the only way to get most of these beers. Now if it would just snow, it would feel perfect.
  2. Wasn't the Cardinal's minor league system supposedly drained and near the bottom of the league after they traded for Holliday?
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) Another managerial opening?? Good thing the Sox scooped up Ventura when they did. That wouldn't be retiring, would it? Tony told the front office that this would be his last year in August. It was a very well kept secret and there was no way he was coming to the White Sox regardless of whether they had hired somebody by now or not.
  4. I doubt the Cardinals do not pick up Molina's $7M option.
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 29, 2011 -> 07:37 PM) Thanks. I thought it was more recent. It was after the 2007 season.
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) When did Mozeliak take over as GM? 2007 after Jockety was fired.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 29, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) I understand there is a bootleg of a concert where they played the entire Beatles White Album. I know someone who is rather eager to hear it, but has not been able to locate it. Anyone have an idea where I could find it? Phish used to cover an entire album every Halloween. I think they did the White Album one year. I am nearly positive the Grateful Dead never did that. That Phish show is available: http://www.amazon.com/Live-Phish-Vol-13-Ce...ks_all_3#disc_3 There are also videos from that show on youtube.
  8. What a game! I actually heard the fireworks from Busch about 8 seconds before Freese's home run. A lot of my friends are Cardinal fans and they are going crazy right now. I was offered standing room tickets to that game for $280, but I passed. Wish I had gone now.
  9. Paul Leka, a Songwriter of ‘Na Na Hey Hey,’ Dies at 68
  10. I don't know it it would qualify as a "sports movie", but Bill Murray's speech in Meatballs has to be one of the most inspirational sports-related scenes in cinema history.
  11. Well, I think their payroll this year was around $125M. With this World Series run, they may be willing to add to that next season. I believe Lohse, Berkman, and Westbrook are free agents after 2012.
  12. If they don't sign Pujols, they should have a nice chunk of money to spend on SS, 2B, and/or 1B/RF.
  13. My band is dressing as Twin Peaks characters for our show on Saturday. We learned the opening theme song. I am going to be Dr. Jacoby.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) The sad thing is, that was close. Anyways, 23 of the 29 are on two people. That is kind of amazing all by itself. It was 41 total, not 29. Still a rather large %.
  15. Do you have to live in Chicago to know that the White Sox do not draw if they are not good?
  16. I remember the Bears beating the Raiders 6-3 some time in the late 80s.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 22, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Well, when you're bunting in that situation you're simply trying to advance the runner from 1st to 2nd. You've got to know that a walk accomplishes the same thing. So even if you're going to bunt, you've got to make him throw strikes, which are generally in an area which makes the pitch easier to bunt. I remember he popped one up foul, don't know if it would have been called a strike or not.
  18. It seems like the location of the pitch is more of a factor than the speed.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 07:42 AM) Normal beer is 3.2%. That is your taps of regular or lite Miller's and Bud's. Something like Icehouse is 5.5%. Budweiser is 5.0% ABV and High Life is just slightly lower.
  20. Just saw the Clydesdales on their way to the stadium.
  21. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) I agree with this. If Dunn is truly and obviously done, a buyout will be negotiated that will cost the Sox less than the remaining $28M. JMO. If he retires, he won't be owed anything.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) If by "Hired by chairman Reinsdorf" you mean "Hired by Kenny Williams", since the GM, you know, does hires. How can you say this so definitively? Supposedly he could not even fire the hitting coach.
  23. QUOTE (qwerty @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) Since there has been big lebowski talk going on... here is a question for some of you. What is your favorite coen brothers film outside of the big lebowski? I ask because as a whole i really enjoy them... but there are still some bona fide duds in their filmography, in my opinion. If you have just seen one or two others don't bother answering. Miller's Crossing, followed by Fargo and Raising Arizona. Though I have not seen A Serious Man or Paris, Je T'Aime.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 09:10 PM) Calling copper Kenny's b**** doesn't strike you as unnecessary at least? Really was praying he'd keep his mouth shut. Probably, but its all relative. Since its coming from Ozzie I guess I consider it pretty tame.
