  1. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) If you don't win the World Series, your team isn't successful.. Do you really think that in 2008, when Tampa Bay finished above 4th place for the first time in franchise history, made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, won their division for the first time in franchise history, won a playoff series for the first time in franchise history, and won the AL pennant for the first time in franchise history, the team was a failure?
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) What's the point? You can see whatever he says through everybody else. This I did not know. So I can't ignore wite when I get ready to. True, but nobody quoted that post.
  3. Any Octoberfest lovers out there? So far this year I've had Bell's, Sam Adams, & Schlafly in bottles and Sam Adams & Schlafly on tap. I think Spaten will be my next choice when the Schlafly is gone. Anybody have any suggestions of others?
  4. Who are four people who have never been in my kitchen?
  5. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) Exactly. As it is now, the Wild Card is a benefit really, you don't have to play the Yankees. If the Tigers or something scratched away next year and won the WC, they should be punished for being the "worst" playoff team by having to burn Verlander in in a play-in game. Somewhat surprisingly, the Yankees have only won that division once in the 4 seasons before this one. They were the wild card twice and once failed to make the playoffs.
  6. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) why is everyone allowed to get away with clearly making fun of greg at all times? Because the "rules" do not apply to everybody here.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) I remember watching Daryl Boston certainly, but I don't recall any specific ridiculous catch. Details? I'm pretty sure he was running full speed and dove head first into the stands in foul territory to catch a pop-up. If it is what I am thinking of it makes Uribe's WS catch seems pretty routine, although the situation was obviously quite different. I cannot find a clip of it.
  8. Heard on the radio today that Verlander is the 4th pitcher to win 23 games and throw a no hitter in the same season. Any guesses on who else has done it?
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) The Tigers now have the second-biggest lead on their closest team in any division in baseball. The only one with more is the Phillies with a 12-game lead on the Braves. Oh, and the Braves are still the Wild Card team by a large margin. Pathetic. So you are openly rooting for the Sox to lose while complaining about how far out of first place they are? Talk about having your cake and eating it too.
  10. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) If the current NL standings hold true for the remainder of the year, who plays who in the NLDS? The division winner with the best record who is not in the wild card division will play the wild card.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) The entire idea of qualifying is flawed when you're comparing OBP. Because "qualifying" means 3.1 ABs per game. On Base Percentage does not only depend on At Bats, it also depends on walks, hit by pitches, sacrifice hits, and sacrifice flies. Quentin has 3.3 PAs per game the White Sox have played, so technically, if the idea of qualification is 3.1 PAs per game, then he would easily qualify. And technically it should be that way. Hey man those are MLB's established rules, not mine. If you put together a petition to change the way players qualify for OBP leader I will sign it.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) Oh GMAB. CQ >>> Pierre. What are you talking about? I never said anything about anybody being better than anybody else. Quentin's OBP is .003 points higher than Pierre's right now. There is no way anybody can say with absolute certainty that Quentin's would be higher if he had not gotten injured.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 01:53 AM) Quentin would be second if he didn't get hurt. Even then, he's getting 2.9 AB per game instead of 3.1 for qualifiers. The ultimate point is this. Pierre makes a ton of outs and when he doesn't, he usually hits singles. I don't see how this is so hard to understand. What is it that you think I don't understand? I simply stated a fact. Your comment on Quentin, on the other hand, is complete conjecture as you have no way of knowing how he would have performed if he had not been injured.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) Getting on base is part of hitting though. In fact, some people would say getting on base is the hitter's only objective i.e. avoiding outs. Pierre sucks at that. Pierre is 2nd on the Sox in OBP among qualifiers.
  15. It don't think it will be "Been there, Dunn that!"
  16. Starts tonight. Complete Lineup Here My band is playing at PK's Saturday night. One free drink to anybody from Soxtalk who comes out.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) Thank you, sir. That 22 doesn't sound so bad, but somehow the 33 seems nearly impossible. The Sox actually still control their own fate, 5.5 back with 6 left with Detroit. I am going camping this weekend and will have no access to phone or internet. It would be great to come home and see a 2.5 game lead.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) I believe it's less than 24. 163(total games +1)-75(Tiger wins)-66(Sox losses)=22 Sox number to win the division is 33.
  19. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) Peavy put himself before the team yet again. Gee, I'm f***ing shocked. Go away Jake, your bulldog bulls*** is beyond old. Stop hurting the team. Other than having a s***ty game, what do you think Peavy did wrong? Is was his turn to start, what is he supposed to do? What do you mean by "go away?" He is under contract here where is he supposed to go?
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 07:48 PM) Except by Marty34, Joe Cowley and Greg775, yes...I was trying to be nice!!! Where are you living now?
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) If Ozzie's going to call the fans "idiots," then we might as well call him one right back. I'm pretty sure he is called that and worse on pretty much a daily basis on this very website.
