GT 8/29 - SOX vs. Twins - 7:10pm CDT - CSN
Leonard Zelig replied to knightni's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Is mlb.tv f***ing up for anybody else? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) Which means at least one of the starters is getting dealt, because you already have Zach Stewart on the line. I can only think of Peavy, Floyd, Humber, Sale, and Stewart. Who else is under Sox control next season?

Sox Did Not Put in a claim on Kubel or Thome

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 05:21 PM) Can't understand why Thome wants to play out the string in Cleveland, but whatever. Does he have a choice? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 08:29 AM) In exchange for saving a whopping $5 million, less than 4% of this team's total payroll? The other day you said that Alexei wasn't cheap, but he is making less than Thornton next year.

I camped on the Oregon and Washington coasts last summer. It was pretty awesome. I recommend that you seal your tent seams before you go.

Wow, Verlander is over 200 innings pitched already. Has more than 1 K/9 with a 2.31 ERA and WHIP of 0.88. Pretty freaking impressive.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) So I am sick of paying DirecTV so much money every month. Currently, I get the Premier package, which includes every channel, and then I purchase the MLB Extra Innings package as well as the NFL Sunday Ticket package. All in all, I figure I probably give about $1800 a year for programming. Yikes. I don't really ever watch the movie channels, except to DVR shows like True Blood, Spartacus, Dexter, Camelot, etc. I primarily watch baseball in the Summer via the Extra Innings package, with heavy doses of the History Channel, and other like channels that come with the basic package. I love the Sunday Ticket, and am not sure if I can give that up, but I do live in Vegas, so I could go to a sportsbook and watch Bears games if I really needed to. I just realized I can buy Apple TV and then buy an mlb.tv subscription for $50 a year instead of paying the $250 or whatever I pay for Extra Innings. I can watch shows like Dexter, True Blood, etc, by renting them with my monthly Blockbuster mail account, buying them on dvd, or buying them on Apple TV. Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to lower bills and still get access to the shows we all love? Is there an NFL online option?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Is it even possible for Dunn to bat .200 by the end of the season? Does anyone know how he'd have to perform to reach that? Yes it is possible. It is also possible for Dunn to lead the league in batting average. A hit in each of his next 100 ABs would put him at .351

Anybody having issues with hotmail today?

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 07:30 AM) Hollywood's track record of acquiring big names who contribute is spotty at best. Wonder who scouted Dunn last year? There were warning signs the second half. What were the warning signs? He hit 21 HRs in the second half of the season.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) This is where Ozzie has to grow some balls and tell Dunn he needs to get his head outta his ass and send him down to the minors to work on his game or flat out sit his ass.Done is just brutal and he's killing us.DL him, send him to Mars, I don't know, just get him the hell away from this team! Dunn can't be sent down without his OK and that probably isn't very likely.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 04:29 PM) This. Terrible. I'd love to see a sequel to the "Big Lebowski" if all the players returned and the Coen Bros. were into it. Of course, it could be an epic tale. Those are some characters I wouldn't mind hanging out with again. Or a prequel so Donnie could be in it. They could use the Tron age defying effect.

Nice win, looks like Detroit & Cleveland have resumed play.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) Bingo. Bingo. Bingo. Bingo. Bingo. Fans don't boo UNTIL the team sucks. Anyone who says otherwise has never been to a major league sporting event. And the best part is, if they start performing, the boos will vanish. Almost instantly, fans will begin to cheer. Didn't Dwayne Wise get booed on opening day?

5.5 games out and 6 games left with Detroit. This White Sox team is actually still in control of its own destiny, as difficult as that may be to believe.

Hey Soxtalk! You just made ESPN Chicago

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) and don't forget we want him and his family dead. I think you are being sarcastic, but stuff comments like that have been posted on here. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:29 AM) Because of Tony LaRussa essentially. I would say it had more to do with Josh Hancock's death.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 07:39 AM) Except much more aggressive in using bullpen matchups. Which might not be the worst thing ever. Oh, and he also has had a much larger clubhouse alcohol issue. The Cardinals have banned alcohol from their clubhouse.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) I heard someone say today that the Situation from Jersey Shore will be a billionaire by the end of this year. Sometimes I wish I could destroy the world. Not sure I buy that considering Oprah is worth 2.7 billion and it's taken her several years to get there.

Not bad on the extremes and absolutes, but the real J4L would have thrown in a lot more rape and sodomy euphemisms.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
Leonard Zelig replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) I must have missed the hate for Jackson. Last few weeks, everyone on here has been saying he's one of the best pitchers on the market. Do we hate Kenny for trading cost-controlled Hudson for Jackson and his heavy salary...yes Read through his "appreciation" thread.
