QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Blalock may not be the best example...especially since we have Fields waiting in the winds. But who knows what we might be able to do next year. Say Florida decides they want a veteran on their young pitching staff, and makes an offer involving Cabrera for a pitcher and Crede? Or the Yankees decide they finally need to fill in that hole that is their starting pitching, and offer us up one of their big guys. Or the Red Sox figure out that they need to replace Wells and Schilling next offseason and offer us a bat, cash, and some of their young guys? Or the Angels realize that they need another starting pitcher, and finally decide that they don't have a place to play Brandon Wood for 2 more seasons? God, the possibilites are endless. We'd seriously be talking about being able to trade for a top level player here, because that's the value of a monster pitcher, and that's what we have 6 of. Cabrera is another bad example. No way the Marlins would give him up considering he's probably going to be the 2nd best hitter of his ERA(Pujols being #1). He's only 23/24 as well.

Again, I see McCarthy being a 2 year pen guy unless a deal that we can't refuse comes up. I don't see any starters getting traded.

QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 12:06 PM) For all we know , Vasquez is the one dealt. I doubt it. Kenny has been trying to get Vazquez for years and KW goes with what he wants. It wouldn't suprise me if he tried to trade McCarthy for Cory Lidle. He's that adamant about getting the players he wants in here.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Over the course of the season, I think McCarthy would have a good chance of putting up better numbers than Garcia, Garland, and Vazquez. I don't. I mean, I think he would be good, but I don't think he would do as any of those guys in his first full year of starting. Look at Danny Haren who was/is a stud pitching prospect. He had a hard time his first half of starting.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) One thing that has not been considered is that Count is not the only tradable pitcher at this point if McCarthy is to be in the rotation at some point. If the Sox have their sights set on a trade, Freddy or Javy might be more attractive. Just a thought, not a suggestion. I doubt they trade either guy unless they really suck. They love Garcia as the big game pitcher and Javier's contract is only through 2007. They probably just plan on developing McCarthy out of the pen and want him to be truly ready to start. This pen thing is probably a 2 year deal.

Well, looks like BMac will be taking the Neal Cotts route. I think more people teams would've seen Contreras more attractive with just the 1 year deal at the deadline so if he flops or they don't like him, they don't have to worry about it. I like Contreras alot though, so I'm glad we resigned him. I hope this isn't an April Fools Joke. I would be pissed if it was.

On my Yahoo Weather Widget it has thunderstorms schedule for Sunday.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) Against the Hawks. Wallace simply isn't that good. A good role-player at best. He hasn't come close to living up to the hype he had coming out of Alabama. He's a freakish athlete with minimal skills. Much like James White. Um Wallace hasn't lived up to the hype because he was drafted a super deep Sacramento team. If he actually stayed there for like 2 years(ALA) along with Rod Gizzard, they would've had a really nice team and Wallace would've spent time playing and developing instead of on the bench because the team didn't want to take the time to develop him. Much like Darko's situation. This is only his 2nd year with major PT.

QUOTE(Timoperezrulez @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) Their better as hell be more then 15,000 people for game 3 I'm just saying 15,000 usually would be great for the 3rd home game of the year. IIRC they had like 12,000 there last year. 15,000 was just a nice round figure I decided to use.

QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) Why in hell are they presenting the rings on Tuesday rather then Opening night??? Cas usually the opening series of the season sells out the first game and flops big time for the next two. It's great marketing and very smart from a business standpoint. IIRC, Game 2 is soldout and Game 3 will have more than 15,000.

Why not have Pods wear those tights NBA players use under his uniform??

Huggins reminds me of Pat Kennedy. They are awesome recruiters, but they suck at coaching so they usually don't get the best out of their players.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) I've seen these. Very impressive. Too bad James White will be the next Gerald Wallace at the nba level. I'd take Gerald Wallace over Tyson Chandler anyday of the week.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) Agree on all points, but that's why I threw in the "Only Tyrus already has a jumpshot in his arsenal, and has the body to add 20 pounds." part to seperate him from Stromile. Swift never has had the body to bang in the post, or any kind of jumpshot. I disagree. Stro definately has a body to bang in the paint. For whatever reason though, he doesn't. -
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) You can make an argument that they have the best bullpen in all of baseball. They're a pretty solid all-around defensive club (pitching, position players, etc). This lineup is good, albeit nothing special: 1. Shannon Stewart 2. Luis Castillo 3. Justin Morneau 4. Joe Mauer 5. Rondell White 6. Torii Hunter 7. Tony Batista 8. Michael Cuddyer 9. Jason Bartlett I don't know what their 7-9 in the order is going to look like, actually. But I see no reason why they can't win 85 to 88 games. Don't forget that they actually were keeping pace with the White Sox up until Hunter's injury. I mean we were the hottest team in baseball and had the best record and yet they were like 5 games behind.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) The thing with a guy like Thomas is, you look at him now and you see a shorter Tyson Chandler.....but you see his freakish athletic ability combined with the 3 mid range jumpers he hit against Texas, and you also see a kid that could develop into an Amare Stoudemire type with a little work on the jumper and in the weight room. He's a top 10 lock and is going to go pro now though, Big Baby will probably go as well. Those 2 have made themselves a ton of money. Oh, and draft express is easily the best site for draft stuff, just so you know. nbadraft.net can also be used as a reference point since they often have better and more detailed individual player profiles, but draft express is better with their mock drafts. I'd say it's just the opposite. nbadraft.net's final mock is by far the most accurate year after year. They used to do detailed profiles, but now you gotta pay for most of the profiles. draftexpress definately does a better job on detailed scouting reports, nbadraft.net definately does better on final mocks. And Thomas is Stromile Swift pt2. I don't know if I would take that in the top 10. -
I don't think James White will be allowed to participate. He's suspended for Cincy's NIT game or was because he was academically ineligible, so I doubt they allow him to participate in the dunk contest.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 07:07 AM) Damn, this guy would have Thomas going numero uno if the draft happened right now. Of course, with the way he has performed in the tournament this year, there is good reason for it. Thomas has been really awesome. The only thing this guy "criticizes" is his lack of bulk, which can be put on . Lack of a true offensive game. I mean he can run the floor and dunk and stuff, but he really doesn't have any post moves or moves period. -

Are You Ready for Year of the Bandwagon?!
nitetrain8601 replied to LVSoxFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wouldn't mean becoming Wrigley South. More people = more money. You know JR and company will spend it and KW will get even more creative with it. Also that means more fans. I already got to experience a World Series, other people should turn over to the "dark" side so they can too. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 05:36 PM) Bulls win a huuuuuuuuuge win today. 33-19 in the 4th to come back and win 101-97 at Boston. Philly lost too, so only 1.5 outta the 8th spot with 12 games to go. Not bad. I don't care if Detroit will kill us, I want to see the Bulls in the playoffs. Not like finishing 9th will make much a difference for the pick anyways. Actually it will. At the 8th spot, I think the best pick we could get is 14. Not making the playoffs puts us at around 10(in my projections), 11 at the highest. That could mean the difference between a Ronnie Brewer and a Maurice Ager. I rather have Brewer. -
I rather wear the 59 ones again. Those were nice.
