  1. Doesn't he have to go through AL teams first before NL teams get a crack at him since he was released by an NL team? If that's the case, that's a pretty good reason why the Reds wouldn't have picked him up.
  2. Willingham and Barrett are probably going to be the only good C in the NL. Good pickup there.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) I wouldn't doubt it. My cousin is a law graduate from University of Chicago, and said the most difficult aspect of such a prestigious university is admissions. Beyond that, everyone across the nation is learning the same material. Only so many methods to teach business ethics, or understand Quantum physics. One school doesn't have access to exclusion information another doesn't. A paper enscribed "Northwestern" is worth more than "University of Illinois," but why? Reputation. Professors with published material in their field and extended education select schools known for their high standards. But truthfully, is a professor with an elaborate resume and 15 years of experience any better at teaching material than someone less credited, although with 25+ years? Think about this--how does one even judge a school's academics? By the students themselves? By the ACT scores of incoming students? By the jobs these students hold after graduating? It's sort of a ridiculous system. If I were to tell anyone UIC is the second most difficult school academically in Chicago, they'd probably laugh. But it's true--if you were to judge by the academic history of professors. Atleast in engineering and several LAS programs This is because there's an odd system of transfer which happens in Chicago. UofC professors often are stolen by UIC. Our school is labeled a "research institution," which attracts top-tier professors from the school. So why isn't UIC a more highly regarded institution academically? Low admission standards brought on a student population of 10,000. An ACT score of 20 could probably get you in. Many people expected our school's child psychology program to be rated within the top 10 in the nation this past fall. An entire team of psychologists from U of C transfered over to our college from their nationally ranked program By logic, you would expect the rating to move over to ours, but it didn't. So many factors--many political--go into judging one school over another. U of I probably dos have their share of quality professors. Just because they're not appointed with a spot on Princeton Review/US News doesn't mean s***. UIC BABY! It is a good school and I agree with everything you said here.
  4. He won't have the oppurtunity to choke. We got T.O. for those redzone situations. Besides, any kicker is better than Jose Cortez.
  5. Keyshawn will be a decoy for Steve Smith. Delhomme only knows how to pass to Steve Smith.
  6. I don't think you'll see that type of athleticism from Amare anymore. He had the same surgery that Penny and McDyess had.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 06:02 PM) And to be fair, he didn't say ANY names. Yep. It's baseball. He was stating a rumor. I applaud actually for sharing whatever knowledge he had.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) Feb or March of 2003. They had their franchise rankings and interviewed Gage. Cool. First stop SI, next the world.
  9. When was the site in ESPN The Magazine? And guys, Any Press is Good Press.
  10. QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Im not tryin to say Bledsoe cant have a good season or that he is a terrible quarterback.. but he isnt a pro bowl QB or one of the top QB's in the league But he was having a Pro Bowl season in those first 6 games. Then it went downhill because Flozell went down and we had no suitable replacements. Drew has defficiencies, and I'm not saying he's a top 3 QB in the league, but I say with a good O-Line, he's top 3 in the NFC. Top 5 at least. And considering I'm a Dallas fan and have been for years and have the dish. Dallas is all I watch when they're on.
  11. QUOTE(Misplaced_Sox @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) Yes I know Borchard has not done much when up here but since half of last season til now I have just felt that maybe it was clicking for him and that being a utility OF would have done a lot for his confidence. I just feel that Borchard has a higher ceiling than Gload who is at his highest ability in terms of talent. Borchard was not so old that he could not have had the chance to be a player still. And I thought kenny would play that experiement. I guess not. I hope him well in Seattle I just hope he does not turn into a monster. White Sox are trying to win now though which is the big thing. We're not going to put guys on the roster with no type of game right now just because they have more potential than the next guy. Not when we're trying to win another championship this year.
  12. Told you guys he wouldn't make it and shouldn't make it.
  13. QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) Pro Bowl!? I dont think so. I did however see him make some costly turnovers that pretty much cost them the playoffs last year.. Dallas will not win 11 or 12 games this year.. The NFC East is going to be too good, and plus, I just hate Dallas so nothing would make me happier than seeing them fall on their faces again Do you even know when Flozell went down? Better question, do you even know who Flozell Adams is?
  14. QUOTE(SOX_HOPE_RN @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) also in tomorrow's trib, the second of 3 commemorative sox posters. first one was in last sundays trib. I got it and it's a poster of all the Sports Sections of the day after a Sox playoff game. Pretty neat.
  15. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) good point, good point, but with the other deal id have no first basemen other then thome, and id have to give up 3 players to the waivers instead of 2 Well if that's the case, that's a better trade.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) Every time I read about a kid who goes ape s*** and shoots like 17 people, the first thing that pops into my mind is: Not enough ballgames with dad. Exactly, gotta bring the kids to ballgames. It doesn't necessary have to be baseball, but it could be any other sport. Best times spent as a kid are with dad at a game.
  17. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) I'd rather have konerko, i just dont think edmonds is that good anymore, and isnt he injury-prone? Not one of my fav. players. I sorda needed the 1b, i had thome on the bench, but heh, who knows what he'll do. Konerko is way too inconsistant. He goes into slumps and when he goes into them, they are huuuuuuge and could kill you fantasywise. I always stay away from Konerko.
  18. If it was a hot teacher, I probably wouldn't tell. That's not me trying to be cool, that's me trying to get some. By some, of course I mean good grades.
  19. QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) Sadly I have to see Dallas on TV every week because I live in effin Texas, Bledsoe was very below average a lot of games.. Now he may be fine for now, but for the future no.. and for the sake of Terrell Owens, it might be a problem as well You would know then that Bledsoe was actually good/probowl quality until Flozell Adams was injured.
  20. All we need is an offensive lineman and a K(I didn't realize there are some really nice K available). Super Bowl 2006, here we come.
  21. Will there be a TalkCubs.com because I don't know how I would react.
  22. I'm not a Bears fan, but I like talking football.
