U.S. Training Camp Roster Released
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) Ok, let's review. Yeah, you could take Ridnour or Hinrich over him, but it's close. I'll assume your kidding. He's EXACTLY what the team needs, a shutdown defender who is money from the perimeter. I'll take him over Ridnour or Hinrich no question. I guess you could argue Hinrich over Battier or Ridnour, but that's it. Well no, I think Howard is a tiny bit ahead of Ridnour and Hinrich, but the thing is he doesn't play PG and there's a glut of SF's and SG's you'd be crazy not to take over Howard. He's a nice player though. BTW, Team USA will be reserving 3 spots for young players to try out and the leading candidates are in fact JJ Reddick, Adam Morrison and Greg Oden.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) i've seen o.j. twice. i would describe him as more of a combo guard than point probably. he does normally bring the ball upcourt, but they do have other guys who do from time to time. he scores a lot, and will probably be asked to shoulder more of a scoring burden since ellis got kicked off the team. really, though, i think he could be a pure point guard or a two guard and do either equally well. Mayo will play PG in college and will play PG in the NBA, just like Chris Paul. I guess Chris Paul isn't a PG though.

BTW, Shaq still has an open invite. I know he'll be the oldest one if he joins, but the team could really use him at C.

U.S. Training Camp Roster Released
Shane Battier, Memphis Bruce Bowen, San Antonio Josh Howard, Dallas These are guys I would realistically take Ridnour or Hinrich over. I think Bowen is overrated and that physical play won't fly in international competition. Battier is a completely overrated player in my eyes. Howard is nice, but there already are better SG's and SF's than him. My team: PG-Chauncey Billups/Chris Paul SG-Kobe Bryant/Dwyane Wade SF-LeBron James/Shawn Marion/Paul Pierce PF-Elton Brand/Chris Bosh/Dwight Howard C-Amare Stoudamire/Brad Miller

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) Now if the Bulls don't get Aldridge, and they don't want Bargnani (although I think he could end up being the next Pau Gasol, not the next Fran Vazquez), I found this little snippet; And ESPN's Draft Lottery has come out; http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/index?&lpos=...lid=gn_NBA_NBA# I like McRoberts alot. I would definately take him with our 2nd pick over Shelden or anyone else who's there. He's Chris Webber with a higher BBall IQ. He also likes to flush it down on opponents which this team needs.

Rowand and the Ring Ceremony
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) Frank won't attend. He is already on record as saying that he wouldn't have thrown out the first pitch in the WS, there is no reason to believe he would pick up his ring in front of everyone either. Well the invite better be extended anyway. He's the best player ever to put on the uniform. He also better be getting a statue if guys like Fisk got one.

Favorite WS Game 2 Homer
Pods' definately. Doing it off of one of the best closers in the game and considering he only hit 1 HR all season long if you include the playoffs. It was like lightning struck. I'm still in shock.

Rowand and the Ring Ceremony
If that's the case, Frank better be invited as well.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) I wouldn't worry about it just yet. There is still plenty of time for late bloomers and kids to show their stuff this summer and fly up the rankings. Rose isn't going to be knocked out of the top PG spot by anyone though, he's nasty. He won't get knocked out because he isn't the top PG. OJ Mayo is. And don't give me anything about him being a combo guard. He's just a big PG.

U.S. Training Camp Roster Released
I disagree with people saying Ridnour is a bad selection and wouldn't have made it. He's a pretty good player in the half-court offense(don't know where anyone got the notion that he's bad at that), he's great at running the fast break and good at deferring to others. Plus he doesn't need to dominate the ball. Honestly, Hinrich = East Coast Ridnour in terms of impact and type of game though Hinrich is more versatile at defense. *awaits flaming*

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) I'm with you and I will go one step further. Lou Malnati's sucks. I will never ever go there again. I too listened to all the hype. I went there and I was extremely disappointed. I thought I may have had a bad pizza or came on a bad day so I gave it another try. It sucks. It absolutely sucks ass. to SSI and LMB

Chicagoland Pizza
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Pssh, Lou's>>>>>>>>>>>>Giordano's. There's not another meal in the world I'd rather have then Lou's, true story. I respectfully disagree. Again, it's not nasty, but I prefer Paliermo's over all and Giordano's after that. Then there's a huge dropoff. Paliermo's ... ... Giordano's ... . . . . . . . . ... Lou Malnati's

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) Palermo's I can't believe I forgot about this place considering my sister and brother both worked there. Great great place and the owners were cool as heck. Too bad one of them died in a freak accident. Great ass pizza though. I absolutely love their sauce.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) Are the Knicks right now the ideal situation for ANYTHING? (Except of course, for the Bulls, who have their picks) Yep, if you have a huge contract and a half-assed attitude towards learning, it's the ideal situation for you.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 06:04 AM) And suprise, suprise (you Bulls fans would be loving this more by the day); I don't think that place is an ideal situation for a rookie. Half the players on that team take everything as a joke.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) I do give Duke credit for one thing. I can't ever remember them having any sort of NCAA violations. At least under Coach K. Its also why I always had a lot of respect for Stanford's programs. They can't just bring in any talented guy they want, they have to also have high acedemic marks (same with my favorite football team...ND). Duke is as dirty as any program. Maggette received money from a booster. Chris Duhon's mother was given a $150,000.00 job coincidentally by Duke. Boozer was also given some cash IIRC. Getting caught or not is basically based on how many friends you have around the coaching ranks and in other programs. If you have enemies or you offset an assistant coach in Jimmy Collins' case, you get "snitched" on or caught. That's plain and simple.

You would be suprised at all the benefits student athletes get. I have a friend who works at a Big Ten University and the players get to live in great housing, everything they eat or touch is paid for and they basically get an allowance. When it comes down to it, they need no money from boosters unless they plan on investing it for when they're out of school and they're not Pro material.

Kenny Fires Back At Frank
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) He was definitely angry. Looked like it was something he wanted to get off his chest for a long time. Yeah it did. Said he should've came to see him face to face. No offense to KW, but Frank on one leg could still handle Kenny.
