  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:43 PM) I like the idea all around, but the 80k stadium will be the end of it. No current stadium could be retrofitted to make that number. And lets think about this - spend about a BILLION dollars for a new stadium that would be used for the Olympics and, well, thats about it. We aren't getting another NFL team, so what else do you use it for? The occasional really huge outdoor concert? Not much other use, really. So as much as I like the idea of the Olympics here, I don't think it will happen. I shall answer this. Okay, well first off, the stadium would be put on or near the UIC Campus. University Village will also expand and be known as "Athletes Village". The 80,000 stadium would be used for the Olympics of course, and to host huge events, such as the Super Bowl, the Final Four, huge concerts, etc. This alone would draw huge revenue. Also, not everyone in Chicago is a Bears fan. I sure as hell am not. I'm not a Packers of Colts fan either. If it were up to me, I'd implode Soldier Field, change the colors of the team to purple and yellow and move the team to Alburqerque. I'm with southsider. Let's get the Olympics, please!!!!!! It'll do soo much good for the city. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) The whole reason that the remodel of Soldier Field had such a low capacity was to try to keep the historical standing of it... now that it is gone, why not just expand it to 80K+ God knows they could sell the tickets for the Bears anyway. Because expanding it would cost mucho dinero and it wouldn't be able to pay for itself unless a roof was put on it. A retractable roof at least would be put on the new stadium allowing it to host such events as the Super Bowl and the Final Four. I'd love to see both held in Chicago. The thought of it makes me drool.
  2. QUOTE(credeisamazing @ May 2, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) ok we lost. c'mon guys, get over it. i mean, yeah, it's hard to take a loss after a late game win. have faith in our players. we're 18-8. that's a good record right now. just believe in the team I have faith in the team. I'm just saying. I'm not saying Buehrle sucks. Half of the pitchers in the majors can't even get through crappy teams.
  3. Yasny put my feelings on Buehrle best:
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...ndpost&p=826666 Last year it was true. Especially at that frame of time. Garland has better stuff and will be more of an ace than Buehrle. If Garland s***s on himself, it's because he f***ed up. If Buehrle f***s up, it's usually because the team he's facing or the situation.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 2, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) What exactly did you say about Buehrle? That Garland was the real ace? Count is the real ace. I said Buehrle doesn't pitch well in high pressure games and/or against teams with good offenses. Guys like Contreras can shut them down. Buehrle regularly can't hold his own against them.
  6. Just another game that proves me right about Buehrle.
  7. I'm one of the few who was with Crede all the way! I'm proud.
  8. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 1, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) It's a shame. I mean I don't recall ever hearing jim leaving on bad terms with cleveland. All I'm thinking now what team jim thome is going to put on his HOF plaque. I thought the MLB decided that. If that's the case, he's going in as a Cleveland Indian considering he played most of his years there.
  9. I think the big problem is that he AJ brings the best out of him. Widger should be playing only once in 10 games if that.
  10. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ May 1, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) We weren't too nice to Maggs but then again... them booing Thome would be more along the lines of us booing big frank (and if any of you guys boo big frank, you can expect my beer to be dumped on your head) Exactly. I'm not shocked by it. Who cares really? I mean, I wouldn't be one to boo, but people who are going to be booing Frank are probably guys who are mad about Thome being booed.
  11. I wish I had her as a teacher.
  12. All I know is he better bring Jose.
  13. There's webcertificate.com and there's a bunch of them on mastercard.com.
  14. 24 was Kobe's number in high school before he switched to 33 to honor his father. He couldn't wear 33 with the Lakers for obvious reasons.
  15. I thought they were already getting a superstar type QB that's going to be a freshman in the fall.
  16. QUOTE(Sam @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) On to basketball.... Derrick Rose will commit to Illinois. Guaranteed. How do you know?
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) Maybe to the naked eye, but he pushes off the rubber with a lot of force. No one on the Earth would be able to throw mid-90's with all-arm. I'm not saying that you said he uses no leg at all but it is more than what meets the eye. Well let me clear it up that I don't know if I would trade him. I think we should have him work on using alot more leg power though.
  18. I might have to agree with whiteem0nkey. BMac doesn't use his legs much if at all.
  19. FIREKENWILLIAMS.COM Who wants to fire it up?
  20. I love the Bronze Titan.
  21. IMO, stupidest fine ever. I have yet to see anyone get injured slip and sliding over a slip and slide or a tarp. Buehrle's about fun and it's not like he's out riding a motorcycle or anything like that.
  22. Briggs is a great player. I think the poster just badmouthed him because for now it doesn't look like he's going to sign an extension. Briggs is a very very very good player. Let him go, I'd like for my Cowboys to pick him up once he becomes a FA. You know Jerry will do it if necessary.
  23. Wow, Burnett's curveball snaps. Obviously, PK knows how to hit a curve.
