  1. Hate Seattle, but defensively and running wise, they're damn good. Russell Wilson is greatly overrated though. Either which way, who are the Bears going to hire for OC? Shannahan looks like he's going to ATL.
  2. Online sports betting is too hard to do nowadays because of laws. I really stopped once bodog went down. Before, I was very heavy into it. Either which way, two weeks to prepare, I'm going with Brady and BB.
  3. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 11, 2015 -> 11:06 PM) All of their big men, Horford, Milsap, Antic, and Mike Scott play at the mid range. Gasol and Noah would have to move out of the paint to defend them. Jeff Teague runs a lot of drive and kicks, Rose would have to defend the pick and roll well without the help of a rim protector. So yea, I don't like the match up at all. I'm not worried about them. Only team I really don't think we matchup with well are the Wizards.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 2, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) This is how I feel. Beside AZ, the past 2 years have not seen a new up and coming franchise. We are still talking about Pats/Seattle/Denver, and are now talking about their 2nd gen coordinators. Unless of course we are talking about AZ, where we would be hiring the coordinator of the coach we turned town 2 years ago. Very pessimistic times. I'm almost ready for Kubiak to be honest. He'd get us back to 9-7 then we can fire him for another terrible coach. Kubiak would be good IMHO. The GM is who will really matter at the end of the day though.
  5. No one asking the real tough questions that fans care about. Same ole at Halas. How are you going to hire a coach before the GM? And how do you allow Mel Tucker to stay another day? He's the first guy you should've fired for job performance. It'll be no different than a few years ago when they hired Emery and Trestman. SMDH. Good luck Bears fans.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 02:46 PM) Gruden was as close to gifted a superbowl as anyone has ever been. Callahan didnt change anything in the offense, both sides of that game admitted as such after the game was over. The Tampa defense said Gruden played the part of Gannon in the scout team and told them all EXACTLY how his line calls worked and what he was going to do, to a T And he didn't develop the Raiders? Either which way, the Bears need football guys in there which is why Polian and Holmgren are their best chances.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 02:10 PM) Gruden won a superbowl because he basically knew the entire playbook of the Raiders and was handed a ferocious Tony Dungy defense. Disagree. They did have a great defense, but Dungy couldn't get it done. Gruden could. As far as the playbook, you could argue the Raiders had Gruden's playbook and couldn't get it done. It's a two way street. Either which way, he ain't coming. Best hope is for Polian and Holmgren package deal.
  8. QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) And how many or us would've been furious if they "overpayed" him then? Maybe he needed the motivation for a new contract to find this version of him. Yeah, it was the right move at the time. If he would've been his normal offensive self up to date, I wouldn't been upset with 10 mil per year. He played himself into a max contract - good. He's earned it.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) I don't get all the hype with Gruden either. He wanted to pick Johnny Football #1 overall last year lol. Gruden has led a team to the Super Bowl while another team should've been in it if it wasn't for the tuck. He's proven he's a head coach (not just a coordinator in over his head) and players like playing for him except Keyshawn who really didn't like anyone but Bill Parcells.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 01:39 PM) I actually think Idzik was doing things the right way for longterm success, but, that team wasn't ready to rebuild. I don't. Geno was a downgrade from Sanchez and that's saying alot. All of the offensive skilled positions were downgraded. Didn't really care for his drafts either. That team played hard for Rex though and it was crazy how he managed a decent season last year.
  11. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 01:24 PM) That's my concern too. With having to hire a GM first, other teams are already requesting interviews for their HC positions while we have to wait. That said, good ownership would already have a short-list of GM candidates. And a good GM candidate would already have a short-list of HC candidates. So if we have good people in charge (I don't know if we do; the jury is still out on George McCaskey), then the process could happen quickly. But with the last GM search, I feel like it took weeks to hire Emery. They better not do that this time. It's a good position to be in if they plan on giving the next coach more power than usual or if there is a package deal out there. Honestly, I don't think the Bears are getting Harbaugh, so I wouldn't bother. I'd be throwing everything at Gruden or Rex Ryan. Ryan was a casualty of a bad GM.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 27, 2014 -> 08:40 AM) http://chi.scout.com/forums/1752-halas-hot...trestman-tucker 7 of the top 15 most efficient passing games against the Bears happened against Trestman and Tucker in the past two years. That doesn't fall on Cutler While right, you're also wrong. Cutler couldn't keep the offense on the field. Many times, going 3 and out or having a costly turnover so the defense had to march right back out there. The offense was supposed to carry this team, it didn't and a large part of that is Cutler. Also, who's going to coach the Bears next year and suddenly fix Jay Cutler?
  13. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) Name me one spot where they have access to three train lines( one going as far as Joliet).", a super highway literally across the street from the stadium and enough space for 7000 parking spot? Oh, and isn't going to cost over a hundred million JUST FOR THE LAND! Don't the Cubs fans have access to the Yellow, Purple, Brown and Red Lines? On top of that, bus service almost non-stop, Lake Shore Drive and Kennedy(to the west) along with a bunch of nightlife or hang out after the game options. The Sox could do worse than 35th and Shields, but they could also do much better.
  14. I was the #3 seed overall, but the I had the 2nd best record(damn divisions killed me). Last team to get in ended up winning it all and they had a 6-7 record coming in. It was a 12 team league. Yeah, I'm mad.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) With those crappier QBs they made all of two Super Bowls in their history, and one required an all time great defense. Your argument supports keeping Cutler. The faster you move you move on from Cutler, the faster you can move onto finding a new QB. It may not happen in a year or two, but as long as you actively seek one out, you'll find one. For some oddball reason, people have this connotation that Cutler is the ceiling when it comes to QBs and the Bears will never get one as good if not better than him. It's a loser mentality really.
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 12:43 PM) Mike Holmgren is bad at his job. Good coach. Bad executive. Pass. Disagree. He had a huge hand in taking Seattle to the SB a few years back, and with Cleveland, he was hired just to get rid of a ton of bad contracts and make the team look sell-able.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) Did you guys see scefters tweet? He's saying bears will have to send huge package of picks to get rid of Cutler He didn't say a huge package of picks, but will probably have to send a high pick with Cutler in which they get a lower round pick back. He was thinking something like Cutler and a 3rd. Honestly, Bears fans shouldn't be choosy on who they can offload Cutler on. You need to get rid of that contract as soon as possible. And the whole argument of, "Well, who will replace him..." is a very weak one. You've had QBs all worse than him over your franchise's existance and have made SBs as well as won one.
  18. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 04:46 PM) You can keep Brady vs. Rodgers. Romo vs Luck. I'll take Whitehurst vs. Bortles any day of the week! Actually, I think Quinn is stating tonight.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 03:49 PM) Who the hell has ever said that Cutler is as good as those guys? You are talking about some of the best ever there. Jay isn't even close to the best ever. He can be above average but you certainly can't win with him dropping back and chucking it 50 times a game. Its ludicrous how awful our offense is and I blame everyone in Halas Hall for the suckitude that has came out of it. Jay actually walks out of this smelling like Rose's compared to most. You're right, so he should've never gotten payed like he's better than those guys, much less on the same level. And Jay is a guy who seemingly doesn't take coaching well, can't read defenses and makes a ton of mistakes. The whole regime should go.
  20. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 10:57 AM) the next sox stadium will be on the site of the last sox stadium. I hope not.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) Cervelli would have been a good target, and I wonder if What it would have taken to expand the Oakland trade to include Donaldson. This team would have really been stacked. He was traded to Toronto, wasn't he?
  22. Honestly he sped it up, Sale gave us the pitching, and Hahn executed his sped up plan to perfection.
  23. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) Even the most ardent Cutler critic like Jenks wants to be proven wrong, as Bears fans we would love to see Jay succeed, but after so many years of mediocre play coupled with that ridiculous contract, we're fed up. Hopefully, this coaching staff is on the way out, we're stuck with Jay, maybe he won't be so terrible with a coaching staff that isn't way in over their heads now that he has weapons. In the past, we've had OCs that were competant, just didn't have the talent, now the Bears have the talent but the coaching staff are a bunch of mental midgets. I'm STILL willing to give Jay a chance to prove us all wrong, even though the odds that he's anything other than a physically gifted but low football IQ, turnover prone, fundamentally unsound QB are very low at this point of his career. The only guy I can think of that can save Jay from Jay is Martz. He didn't allow you to check out of plays, no matter what the defense was showing. Problem is, he didn't have the horses outside of Jay. If he came back, you have Jeffrey, Marshall, Bennett, Forte and a decent line. Would Jay get sacked more? Yes. Would he be able to take advantage of his arm? Yes. Outside of him, I don't really know or can think of a coordinator or coach who can get anymore out of Jay than we've already seen. For a guy making as much as he, that's unacceptable.
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 10:56 AM) he can more than afford the 120 million payroll. he just want the attendance to equal the payroll. I was about to say this. They're not going to take the huge risk of adding 100 mil to the payroll if attendance has been bad the previous 3 years. They're doing the on the field/fan thing right. Build gradually, and when needed, do the spending.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) It won't be for the White Sox. Their lease runs another 15 seasons. It is a sweetheart lease. They make money just about every year. No reason to spend probably billions now. Even if it means, broadening the fanbase? Getting more people to go in the stadium. Hell, do a multi-purpose venue so you can also hold concerts there.
